There's a video where Vihart who identifies as "gender-agnostic" draws triangles all over Veritasium's face. She also appeared to find him attractive. He is married though :)

If I'm not mistaken having a dialogue to convey scientific ideas had a precedent set by none other than Galileo in his Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World System. It wasn't a video granted but in the book Galileo used a dialogue between Aristotle, Ptolemy and Copernicus to explain why the Aristotelian / Ptolemaic misconceptions of the world would need some adjustments. The dialogue spoken by Copernicus was used to explain why the evidence for a heliocentric worldview makes more sense. At least that's what I understand. Haven't had a chance to read the actual book. But nice to know that now we have scientific evidence (courtesy of Mr. Muller) that Galileo was going at it the best way possible..
It is indeed. The interview was filmed in the 2nd year teaching lab at the University of Sydney School of Physics. The double slit experiment is at the back of the room past his left shoulder. He does quite a bit of his filing at Sydney Uni.
No he doesn't, but we do have a whole lot of lecturers that are equally good at presentation and delivery as he is. Sydney Uni really is a pretty special place to work/study.
It would be really nice to live in a developed country like USA where you don't face impulsive price changes, people with better civic sense, and lots more.
I heard that parents don't keep their child at home after 18 and tell them to earn as well and support the family.here in India, this is not a compulsion just an expectation.I guess every country has its own ups and downs.
Grades don't have all that much to do with intelligence. Especially not with wisdom and emotional intelligence. The will to learn and even the quallity of the teachers and the lessons are just some of the factors that determine the grades.
Thanks for the comment! I agree to a certain extent, and there are a whole lot of interconnecting factors here. I think the point Derek was trying to make was that he had the will, and his drive came from grades. His teachers seemed to have helped too. His extrinsic motivation was probably all about grades, as at that stage, grades may be the only way we know to measure intelligence. His Intrinsic motivation was probably quite different, it was the challenge, the questioning, all that good emotional intelligence stuff!
Thanks for the reply. Derek's strong will and strive for good grades is admirable. I just wanted to point out that intelligence can not be measured by grades only, because that is what many people do. But in fact I've met many people who are good at school, who lack the intelligence in other parts of life. When I was still in school I was really interested in science. But the stuff that was tought in school didn't really interest me, I was reading many science books at home though. I don't know how Derek sees himself now in the aspect of intelligence, if he thinks he is intelligent enough now or if he still wants to be better. The thing is though, you can only improve your genetically given IQ by a certain degree, so you can't increase your IQ but you can still learn a lot more. Would be interesting to know how far he intends on taking it. Thanks for the upload by the way :)
ok a he looks stoned.. or like hes needs some sleep.. but ive always wondered why he has no accent Edit: didn't know he moved to Canada as a child.. got it now
Most people's teachers were sorry. My physics teacher taught chemistry and coached. I did bad on a test and he said in front of the class that if I ever became a doctor he needed to know which hospital or clinic I worked at so he'd never go there. Everyone laughed. He really wasn't that smart, but managed to put several students down. He took one out in the hall and grabbed him by the lapels and shoved him against the wall for calling him by his 1st name in front of the students.
he realliy inspires me a lot..
I am sure that 1 million subscribers have nothing to do with the fact that you are one hot Dr.! ;)

He is a most educational man on RUclips.
I didnt realize mr. veritasium was a dr. kudos to derek.
Just discovered Veritasium and I love it. What is the correct answer to the friction misconception?

This looks like the place where he filmed the two slits experiment?

Does Derek actually teach in a university? I would _love_ to sit in on his classes.
