My least favorites part about matchmaking and lobbies are: 1. Not having the ability to choose which consoles you can cross-play with 2. Being thrown into a trios game without a team.
Divine Tsukuyomi its not forced wtf? Yall check the settings? Under account in options there is a checkbox for crossplay. Imo its balanced tho because console has aim assist (multiple options, too) and if you are actually skilled using a controller and not a casual that will help a lot
Mirzu42 i think it’s Xbox, that is forced cross platform. cuz all my friends on PS4 is able to turn it off. but when I do it, it tells me that I can’t start the match, without cross play on.
Divine Tsukuyomi weird. I dont think its a problem for everyone. But cod is a casual game so controller aim assist is just insane. Like most controller players who are good beat the avarage pc player. My friend and i are very equal at 1v1 fights on custom games and he plays on ps4 and im on pc. One of my friends literally plays with controller on pc because of the advantage it gives. I get it that not every one games a lot tho but the better controller players beat your ass too if you are struggling against pc players. We have to be really accurate to hit shots and if we dont hit the controller will win because it can literally lock on you

Don’t listen to them lmao. 11 years ago I started playing WAW and had a .6 kd. Two years later on BO1 I was at a 2.0 and then a 2.6 during MW3. You’ll get better with time.
This explains why i was shitting on everyone and winning at least 5 games in a single day when warzone first came out and now the whole lobby feels like shroud since my stats only got better since launch.

yeah, i don't understand how the fuck in this game everyone play like a fucking pro, i can understand in cs go, cause you know only sweaty tryhards play it, but man i never see a casual game like cod with so many amazing players, with insane aim XD i'm starting to think that there's even some scripting in gunfights. it's two things actually. One reason is what you explained and the other reason is 99% of the lobbies were filled with brand new players, the 1% coming from people who played MW Multiplayer. That's why you were able to wipe out so many players because they were new and shitty. Now that it has been a few week and players have adjusted to the playstyle of the game you have much more harder lobbies.

I'm starting to wonder if they're even pairing players in the Gulag based off SBMM. Like, if there's a lot of players waiting, they'll match the two most skilled players together. I'm wondering this because I almost never lose late game Gulags where there's likely less people to pick from, and I'll more frequently lose early game Gulags where everyone feels like a super sweat.
I can prove SBMM very easily. When loading a squad lobby, it will continuously switch your teammates. There would be no reason to switch teammate after finding a match unless they are leveling out the skill between teams. I’m surprised this hasn’t been mentioned.

@@21Roofdog Honestly, having a low KD is better if you want to just hop on and have some fun after a hard day. I got my KD to above average at one point but it was not fun. I got tired of needing to abuse meta loadouts just to keep my stats good so I just embraced the badness and started using bad guns and riot shields in every lobby. I've been doing the challenges not caring about my KD and it's a 0.84 now. It's just a lot more fun to do bad and stop caring. There are people on this game that take it so seriously and refuse to challenge in pubs because they care about their stats so much. That's not fun so fuck those tryhards lmao

Skill-based matchmaking is a TERRIBLE system at its core. One of the best feelings of any activity, whether it be school, sports, or video games, is the feeling of improvement. With SBMM, that feeling is gone. You're punished for improving and you actually never feel like you even are improving. There's almost ZERO incentive to improve. In games without SBMM, players typically start out at the bottom of the scoreboard and over time and with practice they move up the scoreboard and can see their improvement. With SBMM, that's all gone. Not to mention this promotes reverse boosting (in Multiplayer you get teammates tanking their stats for the entirety of the match where you now have no hope of winning). And instead of finding lobbies in Warzone with the best connections possible, SBMM might now take precedence and your lobbies are laggier. I imagine that once Infinity Ward rolls out the 200 player BR update that the lag will be noticeable in many cases. With SBMM, since you're facing players with the same skill level, every lobby feels sweaty and like you have to play at 100% for every gunfight eliminating the casual appeal (even though SBMM is implemented to protect CASUAL PLAYERS).
If you want to go seal clubbing play against bots! They are easy to kill and should provide just as much challenge as you wish for. In my opinion playing against bots is boring not because they don’t talk shit, but because having no challenge in it makes no sense.

They tweeted that it was out of their hands. At the time of the original writing it prolly wasn't in Warzone, but Activision later sneakily put it in the game. I'd believe that too because I know that Activision is a TERRIBLE company.
Why do you need to make a note. NEVER trust the developers or Activision. The devs are obviously on our side a little more because they are passionate about gaming. But their jobs and livelihoods rely on Activision so they pretty much have to do as they’re told. While it’s near certainty that it’s Activision pulling all the strings, (Michael Condrey pretty much confirmed this), you should never trust either of them. Never buy cod on release. Never believe anything about supply drops, free content or SBMM. Don’t believe their reasoning for not bringing MW2 Remastered multiplayer.

SBMM is in squads too I played squads with two buddies. One of them playing his first game on warzone, the other mediocre .8 kd, and I have 1.7 and we got a 22 kill win. It actually felt like playing against bots.

Ldrift games should be for fun not for challenges, i would just play dark souls then, but this is cod and it’s always been for fun but this feels like every match I’m playing for ten grand on the line with g fuel snorting sweats and I’m tired of it

To a skilled player it looks like you get killed faster and faster as you get better at the game which is a disheartening mentality if you think you're playing "random" players. You feel like you may be getting worse or plateauing. It skews K/D ratio because you're fighting harder players and on top of that you don't get the pride of "We barely won that but then again this is diamond rank" or whatever ranking system they would choose.

Yeah, I won two Solo matches in the first 24 hours of installing the game. Must have been within the first 10 matches. Took a long time before I got my third win, for sure.

same here. Ive never won a squad BR, but yesterday I joined a friends party who they both are not good, and we won 1 and didnt finish out of the top 10 in 8 matches.

Same. When i first started playing, there was no lag. Right now i have 3.4 kd in warzone i checked using this tracker ace mentioned and there is so much lag. My internet is good internet and other games dont lag but this one does alot 🥺 i was really enjoying warzone but its unplayable now
If it’s every time it’s probably on your end. I notice console players usually skip around more than PC players. But it’s only once and a while accept this last week when the servers have been over loaded. But if you notice this every game it’s probably your net or system connection. Cause for me it’s not bad 90% of the time.
There's no way the developer would not know if SBMM was going to be in the game. Even if the publisher decides to add it, it still falls on the developer to actually implement it. They definitely lied. It might not be there fault - it probably was insisted by execs at activision - but it is literally impossible for infinity ward to not know it's going to be in there.
So this is why my ping is almost always at 150ms/game? Because I’m good at the game?! Awesome. I’m so effing glad that they’re prioritizing SBMM over connectivity for all players. What a joke dude.
Nobody said they were prioritizing sbmm over connection. In fact if you look at the multiplayer testing, the results showed that ping was still prioritized. Your bad ping is probably due to the universally shit servers.

This seem to be the reason for SBMM in Warzone, because it gives below average player a chance to win, and if they win a game once in a while they want to play more. But on the other hand, if you are a player that can get 3 kills in every game, but never win, you still might end up in a higher SBMM lobby as the average k/d on the upper was just 1,2 k/d, which means that has to be over half being below the average k/d, which means this group of people will never have a chance to win a warzone match.
Another way of finding out if SBMM exist is because the Pro players/ PC streamers encounter multiple hackers/ sometimes even back to back as compared to an average player or below average player where they say things like, " hackers where?" I have a relative who also played and he said I was complaining too much when I got killed by a hacker? because he never encountered one. Keep in mind he's doo-doo at FPS games and this game.... Wonder why he never encountered a hacker, because he's stats are doo-doo so SBMM puts him at the bottom while the hackers getting free kills are placed in higher lobbies. Also explains why everyone gets matches with latency as high as 100-200MS. I literally live near a Modern Warfare Dediciated server and I have High speed internet with speeds of 300+MBPS and in Warzone my average latency is 80-120MS literally the only game where I don't get my usual pings of 3-10. I've played better small F2P games that have better servers/ Anti-cheat systems. Every other game I get an average of 10-20MS with 30MS at most, but w/ Warzone nope.. Worst connection ever. pathetic that a AAA title is not willing to spend money (which they have and can afford )to upgrade their servers along with a better anti-cheat system. Literally these two will be the end of Warzone just like MW Multiplayer.
Mahdi Bakhshoudeh I’ve encountered one. He was beaming me from so far also I was taking cover behind a train. He killed me so quick I then spectated him through the last few mins of the match and he was snapping on targets as soon as he sees them. Watch you kill cams and spectate after you die just incase. Maybe you have encountered one but just don’t know it. They have started to flood the warzone servers and abit on multiplayer too.
Yeah just encountered a hacker for the first time yesterday in SnD since launch. Dude had wall hacks with a FAL with fmj and just wallbanged on shoothouse the whole game
White hackers and aimbots dont snap on target as soon as they see a target,they snap as soon as it becomes a target they can hit. Many times you will not see anything at longer ranges, especially when theres thick grass or bushes that you can shoot right through. Wasteland on mw2 would always show everyone the aimbots, as they'd snap in on some spot in the grass because somewhere behind the grass theres a person, or they shoot through the bushes before seeing anything. I've been rewatching killcams for a long time in mw2, and I can tell what they look like in that game. Maybe they can be better disguised now, but I doubt it's that hard to tell to any skilled observant player
SBMM simply destroys games. For the last few days it always takes 1-2 Minutes to find a lobby in warzone and then its a server on the other side of the world and I have to play with 100 Ping and 30% packet loss. But hey at least they managed to throw me into a lobby with 149 sweats.

Personally I feel Activision did add SBMM so they could lock some of their "Influencers" like Aculite, Jackfrags, etc., in to a low-tier bracket so they can stomp on everybody they play against, which in turn would allow them to put out more videos(since nobody wants to upload a loss or chain of losses) and streaming sessions. This in turn would help to sway the viewer into thinking that they are capable of doing the same thing, and end up spending money on the game. Jackfrags and Aculite and people like them probably aren't even aware that their accounts are locked at a lower tier bracket, and that it's something Activision does to their accounts on the back-end. I came to this conclusion due to the fact that I personally NEVER run into the level of stupid that people like Aculite, Jackfrags, etc., do. I've played enough Warzone to get the battlepass from 1 to 100 and in all that time I've never encountered people as bad as they run into on a frequent occurrence.

Activision wouldn't because it'd hurt them in the wallet. However, based on my personal experience in Warzone, it's only once in a blue moon do I run into someone who will fail time and time again to get through a window, or will see that I broke their armor and so they parachute off the rooftop towards me. Everyone I run into knows exactly where I am at all times, they have the hearing of a bat and the eyes of an eagle capable of spotting you on a ridge half the map away.
This happens in PUBG too, look at a streamers game reports, a bunch of the players have never played a match before, it's sad because they're actually not really much better than an average player but they get put against new/low skilled players

Not MLG sweats jumpshotting and drop shotting every gunfight and using broken weapons all the time. I don't mind if theres 2 or 3 in a game but if all players are sweats it's not fun to play against.

They have a higher likelihood of running into other low skill players, so where is the problem? Will they eventually get killed by a sweat? Probably. So what? Do they have to win the match with 20 kills to enjoy the game? Of course not. Any rational human being should be able to understand that if you're bad you don't deserve to win. That's should be the whole point of playing in the first place, so you can get better and win more gunfights and more games.
I was convinced of this after few days. 5 wins in a row with my "worse" squad. Shroud championship godfights with my good squad, if you are above average at this game you pretty much knew for sure that there is sbmm.
Game has sbmm, and that’s what killed it. I’d have higher ping games just to compensate for my 2.5kd so it could find people around my skill. Horrible design for a game. If Warzone didn’t come out no one would be playing.

All ive noticed since warzone launched is that my avrg ping on multiplayer went from the usual 60-80 ms thats already above my avrg 20-30 ping. Has gone to 60 -240 ms ping. Yet nobody is talking about how shit these servers are?
160 ping sometimes and combine with 60 FPS and 60 Hs monitor, sometimes my kill cam show me stand still like a bot on other people game while in my game I dumb like 10 bullets on them. Shrug. Never take this game too serious unless you have optimal set up.
I’m pretty sure the servers are being flooded because 1. War zone is free so lots of people are buying it and 2. Quarantine is going on so people have nothing else to do but stay home and play video games

Your hidden rank drops and you get placed in easier lobbies until you win... Or you are given better players in your group. Sbmm most likely hurts the above avg+ players around 10-20% of the player base because they have no real place to drop (in the hidden rank) and may often be put with lower end players because the system wants them to carry them. We play mostly in a group of 3 with K.D of 0.64, 0.97 and 1.1. If we get a 4th player one has a K.D of 0.5 the other has 1.6 this probably will make a big difference. To our games.
Friend and I are playing duo+random for several rounds, consistently in top 5. Our high skill friend logs on and joins, our strategy doesn't change at all, but suddenly our enemies are noticably more skilled and we have several rounds in a row where we don't break the top 20. I spent the next day trying to figure out what variables could have changed to lead to such markedly different results, and SBMM makes perfect sense, but didn't cross my mind at all. Time to dump my stats and flatten the curve.
Sbmm is needed. Gaming has become a job for some like never before. If you want casuals to stick around (the majority and the $$) you have to make the game fun for them too. If they never get to enjoy a match cos a no-life/pro destroys them every 2mins that sucks. I think the trick is to be transparent, have maybe 3 fluidly moving brackets and everyone is told what bracket you sit in and after a few games the player can see if they are progressing up or down. A no lifer/pro should not be in the same lobby as a new player - period. The main people who fight sbmm are players who just want easy kills.
I’d have to disagree. I’ve been playing cod since bo2, and when I first stated I was like everybody else. I got destroyed almost every lobby, but I didn’t complain, and instead of blaming the game and other players and wanting things to be made easy for me, I reflected on what I was doing wrong. Playing against players that are much better than you are is the fastest way to get better at the game if you actually learn from them. Eventually I got the hang of it and now have had around a 2.5-3 kd rushing. In MW, however, SBMM serves to keep you where you are. You’re not improving, you’ve just had the difficulty lowered so that you never have to chance to really improve. If you can’t tolerate playing against better players in a video game, that’s pretty sad.
The only skill-based matchmaking that has any right to exist is a protected bracket for potatoes. Anything beyond that should be completely mixed lobbies. Modern Warfare has already closed the Skill Gap more than any other Call of Duty with fast TTK, sluggish movement and poor balance. With all of these advantages for new players, why would you need to implement SBMM this harshly to begin with?

As for an above-average player, I am waiting 10-plus minutes for a game, and I'm playing people out of region. That's not okay, I shouldn't be punished for being good at the game.

What the top 5% always forget is they NEED the casual player to keep this game alive, but guess what? the casual player certainly doesn't need the top 5%.....AT ALL. The fact is the decent players don't want to play with players who are better than them also, just like the casual player doesn't want to play with the no lifers. Easy. Separate them (but only into 2-3 brackets overall).
small3687 my point is that after a while of playing against people better than yourself, you get better and can finally have those great games. I’d rather get destroyed one game, and then destroy in the next than have perpetually mediocre games and monotony. If people want to play at their skill level all the time, that’s what competitive should be for. Public matches should just be somewhere to kick back, do challenges, and be able to do well without having to try all the time.
Yeah, this basically confirms my experience. It's definitely based on past x number of games. If you were to plot my past games # of kills it basically looks like a wave. Also seeing my f2p get 10 kills whenever he plays solo and then 0 kills whenever he squads with me is pretty telling.
Let's not forget as the player pool gets smaller the available servers get smaller thus leading to increased ping on average. My game hasn't searched for a game under 50ms in months and averages 90ms. When I was in the bottom tiers it was 24ms all the time.

Yes. Yes it does. Luck does play a role in Warzone though compared to Blackout there is more emphasis on mechanical skill and map knowledge. This would normally achieve a perfect balance, but because SBMM exists, it is now lopsided in favor of skill, with barely any luck involved. They expect you to play perfectly, knowing exactly where to drop and gaining every possible advantage, from engaging enemies and winning skirmishes (including Gulag duels) to getting Loadout Drops, and securing and holding power positions within the circle.
No, not at all. The point of a battle royale is to enter a large map vs a large number of other players, and with skill and guile be the last man standing. Nowhere does it state that it needs to have 50-60 total beginners for you to shit on so you can feel good about your "kill death ratio".

Interesting video...I have a below average KD and play with friends who have an average of 1.5KD and I NEVER encounte the type of bots you seem to match against. Every team we encounter seem to be around 2KD minimum, its crazy. I havent played solos too much to do a proper test. But when lower skilled players play with their higher skilled friends, you get matched UP rather than down. I feel like my play IQ is decent enough to theoretically be 1+KD range but cos Ive died tons when first playing the game, its taking forever to bring that number up. Great video :)
i think he means that the game puts them in the same lobby so it tells something. many of high skill streamers has been facing each others in warzone, alot more than in blackout for example.

While you and other people might see this as a bad decision, every long lasting popular game has sbmm, so if we're being real it probably makes the player experience much more enjoyable, thus the reason it's in so many games
@@noahmiller4839 R6 for example has casual play and rank play, you can separate the skill set. But you can't do that with MW. And SBMM doesn't really make the gaming experience fun. If you play in a higher skilled lobby with your friend then you get harder competition and if your high skilled friend plays in your lobby then he can crush the ops, I'm sure that ain't fun for lower players
I've been playing on girl's account and while she's Lvl 42 I'm clearly above that. But, what I noticed was dude's at 155 tanking to play in those lobbies and they're destroying lesser skilled players
Great analysis Ace! Ya know, I get that SBMM has been in COD and other games in some form for a while, but for some reason it seems much more blatant in this COD. It sounds stupid, but I think its the fact that there aren't prestiges in this COD, so you just see people pushing rank 155 in every lobby if you're above average as opposed to seeing a prestige icon that you may not be familiar with if you just play casually.
This explains how it takes 20 minutes to get into a match, only to have no team in trios or quads in a game with thousands of players online at one time.

I had no idea they could skill base match make a lobby of 150 people, I thought maybe the gulag was skill based depending on how well you were doing in the game prior to dying or something but this is crazy and actually explains a lot. Definitely explains the spotty connections.
I did a significance test and the k/d ratio difference (karma and dummy account) is extremely statistically significant (p-value=1.65*10^-27). So basically there is definitely skilled-based match making (even though the data wasn’t randomly sampled)

I was not surprised to see that SBMM was in Warzone I could definitely feel it just from playing. Im glad that you have proved it though and I wasn't just crazy. I think it definitely does not belong in warzone considering the odds of you winning the game with random players in your lobby are already super low and you don't need this stacked in your favor as well.

it's two things actually. One reason is what you explained and the other reason is 99% of the lobbies were filled with brand new players, the 1% coming from people who played MW Multiplayer. That's why you were able to wipe out so many players because they were new and shitty. Now that it has been a few week and players have adjusted to the playstyle of the game you have much more harder lobbies.

When loading a squad lobby, it will continuously switch your teammates.

@@21Roofdog Honestly, having a low KD is better if you want to just hop on and have some fun after a hard day. I got my KD to above average at one point but it was not fun. I got tired of needing to abuse meta loadouts just to keep my stats good so I just embraced the badness and started using bad guns and riot shields in every lobby. I've been doing the challenges not caring about my KD and it's a 0.84 now. It's just a lot more fun to do bad and stop caring.

Skill-based matchmaking is a TERRIBLE system at its core. One of the best feelings of any activity, whether it be school, sports, or video games, is the feeling of improvement. With SBMM, that feeling is gone. You're punished for improving and you actually never feel like you even are improving. There's almost ZERO incentive to improve.
In games without SBMM, players typically start out at the bottom of the scoreboard and over time and with practice they move up the scoreboard and can see their improvement. With SBMM, that's all gone. Not to mention this promotes reverse boosting (in Multiplayer you get teammates tanking their stats for the entirety of the match where you now have no hope of winning). And instead of finding lobbies in Warzone with the best connections possible, SBMM might now take precedence and your lobbies are laggier.
I imagine that once Infinity Ward rolls out the 200 player BR update that the lag will be noticeable in many cases. With SBMM, since you're facing players with the same skill level, every lobby feels sweaty and like you have to play at 100% for every gunfight eliminating the casual appeal (even though SBMM is implemented to protect CASUAL PLAYERS).

They tweeted that it was out of their hands. At the time of the original writing it prolly wasn't in Warzone, but Activision later sneakily put it in the game. I'd believe that too because I know that Activision is a TERRIBLE company.
Why do you need to make a note. NEVER trust the developers or Activision. The devs are obviously on our side a little more because they are passionate about gaming. But their jobs and livelihoods rely on Activision so they pretty much have to do as they’re told. While it’s near certainty that it’s Activision pulling all the strings, (Michael Condrey pretty much confirmed this), you should never trust either of them. Never buy cod on release. Never believe anything about supply drops, free content or SBMM. Don’t believe their reasoning for not bringing MW2 Remastered multiplayer.

SBMM is in squads too I played squads with two buddies. One of them playing his first game on warzone, the other mediocre .8 kd, and I have 1.7 and we got a 22 kill win. It actually felt like playing against bots.

To a skilled player it looks like you get killed faster and faster as you get better at the game which is a disheartening mentality if you think you're playing "random" players. Same. When i first started playing, there was no lag. Right now i have 3.4 kd in warzone i checked using this tracker ace mentioned and there is so much lag. My internet is good internet and other games dont lag but this one does alot 🥺 i was really enjoying warzone but its unplayable now

But it’s only once and a while accept this last week when the servers have been over loaded. But if you notice this every game it’s probably your net or system connection. Cause for me it’s not bad 90% of the time.
There's no way the developer would not know if SBMM was going to be in the game. Even if the publisher decides to add it, it still falls on the developer to actually implement it. They definitely lied. It might not be there fault - it probably was insisted by execs at activision - but it is literally impossible for infinity ward to not know it's going to be in there.

Nobody said they were prioritizing sbmm over connection. In fact if you look at the multiplayer testing, the results showed that ping was still prioritized. Your bad ping is probably due to the universally shit servers.

This seem to be the reason for SBMM in Warzone, because it gives below average player a chance to win, and if they win a game once in a while they want to play more.
But on the other hand, if you are a player that can get 3 kills in every game, but never win, you still might end up in a higher SBMM lobby as the average k/d on the upper was just 1,2 k/d, which means that has to be over half being below the average k/d, which means this group of people will never have a chance to win a warzone match.

Another way of finding out if SBMM exist is because the Pro players/ PC streamers encounter multiple hackers/ sometimes even back to back as compared to an average player or below average player where they say things like, " hackers where?" I have a relative who also played and he said I was complaining too much when I got killed by a hacker? because he never encountered one. Keep in mind he's doo-doo at FPS games and this game.... Wonder why he never encountered a hacker, because he's stats are doo-doo so SBMM puts him at the bottom while the hackers getting free kills are placed in higher lobbies.
Also explains why everyone gets matches with latency as high as 100-200MS. I literally live near a Modern Warfare Dediciated server and I have High speed internet with speeds of 300+MBPS and in Warzone my average latency is 80-120MS literally the only game where I don't get my usual pings of 3-10. I've played better small F2P games that have better servers/ Anti-cheat systems. Every other game I get an average of 10-20MS with 30MS at most, but w/ Warzone nope.. Worst connection ever.

Mahdi Bakhshoudeh I’ve encountered one. He was beaming me from so far also I was taking cover behind a train. He killed me so quick I then spectated him through the last few mins of the match and he was snapping on targets as soon as he sees them. Watch you kill cams and spectate after you die just incase. Maybe you have encountered one but just don’t know it. They have started to flood the warzone servers and abit on multiplayer too.

White hackers and aimbots dont snap on target as soon as they see a target,they snap as soon as it becomes a target they can hit. Many times you will not see anything at longer ranges, especially when theres thick grass or bushes that you can shoot right through. Wasteland on mw2 would always show everyone the aimbots, as they'd snap in on some spot in the grass because somewhere behind the grass theres a person, or they shoot through the bushes before seeing anything. I've been rewatching killcams for a long time in mw2, and I can tell what they look like in that game. Maybe they can be better disguised now, but I doubt it's that hard to tell to any skilled observant player

SBMM simply destroys games. For the last few days it always takes 1-2 Minutes to find a lobby in warzone and then its a server on the other side of the world and I have to play with 100 Ping and 30% packet loss. But hey at least they managed to throw me into a lobby with 149 sweats.

Personally I feel Activision did add SBMM so they could lock some of their "Influencers" like Aculite, Jackfrags, etc., in to a low-tier bracket so they can stomp on everybody they play against, which in turn would allow them to put out more videos(since nobody wants to upload a loss or chain of losses) and streaming sessions. This in turn would help to sway the viewer into thinking that they are capable of doing the same thing, and end up spending money on the game. Jackfrags and Aculite and people like them probably aren't even aware that their accounts are locked at a lower tier bracket, and that it's something Activision does to their accounts on the back-end. I came to this conclusion due to the fact that I personally NEVER run into the level of stupid that people like Aculite, Jackfrags, etc., do. I've played enough Warzone to get the battlepass from 1 to 100 and in all that time I've never encountered people as bad as they run into on a frequent occurrence.

Activision wouldn't because it'd hurt them in the wallet. However, based on my personal experience in Warzone, it's only once in a blue moon do I run into someone who will fail time and time again to get through a window, or will see that I broke their armor and so they parachute off the rooftop towards me. Everyone I run into knows exactly where I am at all times, they have the hearing of a bat and the eyes of an eagle capable of spotting you on a ridge half the map away.
This happens in PUBG too, look at a streamers game reports, a bunch of the players have never played a match before, it's sad because they're actually not really much better than an average player but they get put against new/low skilled players

Not MLG sweats jumpshotting and drop shotting every gunfight and using broken weapons all the time. I don't mind if theres 2 or 3 in a game but if all players are sweats it's not fun to play against.

All ive noticed since warzone launched is that my avrg ping on multiplayer went from the usual 60-80 ms thats already above my avrg 20-30 ping. Has gone to 60 -240 ms ping. Yet nobody is talking about how shit these servers are?

Your hidden rank drops and you get placed in easier lobbies until you win... Or you are given better players in your group. Sbmm most likely hurts the above avg+ players around 10-20% of the player base because they have no real place to drop (in the hidden rank) and may often be put with lower end players because the system wants them to carry them. All this talk that its to balance the game or stop pros from destroying is nonsense.. Its about money.

We play mostly in a group of 3 with K.D of 0.64, 0.97 and 1.1. If we get a 4th player one has a K.D of 0.5 the other has 1.6 this probably will make a big difference. To our games.
Friend and I are playing duo+random for several rounds, consistently in top 5. Our high skill friend logs on and joins, our strategy doesn't change at all, but suddenly our enemies are noticably more skilled and we have several rounds in a row where we don't break the top 20. I spent the next day trying to figure out what variables could have changed to lead to such markedly different results, and SBMM makes perfect sense, but didn't cross my mind at all. Time to dump my stats and flatten the curve.

Sbmm is needed. Gaming has become a job for some like never before. If you want casuals to stick around (the majority and the $$) you have to make the game fun for them too. If they never get to enjoy a match cos a no-life/pro destroys them every 2mins that sucks. I think the trick is to be transparent, have maybe 3 fluidly moving brackets and everyone is told what bracket you sit in and after a few games the player can see if they are progressing up or down. A no lifer/pro should not be in the same lobby as a new player - period. The main people who fight sbmm are players who just want easy kills.
I’d have to disagree. I’ve been playing cod since bo2, and when I first stated I was like everybody else. I got destroyed almost every lobby, but I didn’t complain, and instead of blaming the game and other players and wanting things to be made easy for me, I reflected on what I was doing wrong. Playing against players that are much better than you are is the fastest way to get better at the game if you actually learn from them. Eventually I got the hang of it and now have had around a 2.5-3 kd rushing. In MW, however, SBMM serves to keep you where you are. You’re not improving, you’ve just had the difficulty lowered so that you never have to chance to really improve. If you can’t tolerate playing against better players in a video game, that’s pretty sad.
The only skill-based matchmaking that has any right to exist is a protected bracket for potatoes. Anything beyond that should be completely mixed lobbies.
Modern Warfare has already closed the Skill Gap more than any other Call of Duty with fast TTK, sluggish movement and poor balance. With all of these advantages for new players, why would you need to implement SBMM this harshly to begin with?

What the top 5% always forget is they NEED the casual player to keep this game alive, but guess what? the casual player certainly doesn't need the top 5%.....AT ALL. small3687 my point is that after a while of playing against people better than yourself, you get better and can finally have those great games. I’d rather get destroyed one game, and then destroy in the next than have perpetually mediocre games and monotony. If people want to play at their skill level all the time, that’s what competitive should be for. Public matches should just be somewhere to kick back, do challenges, and be able to do well without having to try all the time.
Yeah, this basically confirms my experience. It's definitely based on past x number of games. If you were to plot my past games # of kills it basically looks like a wave. Also seeing my f2p get 10 kills whenever he plays solo and then 0 kills whenever he squads with me is pretty telling.

Let's not forget as the player pool gets smaller the available servers get smaller thus leading to increased ping on average. My game hasn't searched for a game under 50ms in months and averages 90ms. When I was in the bottom tiers it was 24ms all the time.

Yes. Yes it does. Luck does play a role in Warzone though compared to Blackout there is more emphasis on mechanical skill and map knowledge. This would normally achieve a perfect balance, but because SBMM exists, it is now lopsided in favor of skill, with barely any luck involved. They expect you to play perfectly, knowing exactly where to drop and gaining every possible advantage, from engaging enemies and winning skirmishes (including Gulag duels) to getting Loadout Drops, and securing and holding power positions within the circle.

Interesting video...I have a below average KD and play with friends who have an average of 1.5KD and I NEVER encounte the type of bots you seem to match against. Every team we encounter seem to be around 2KD minimum, its crazy. I havent played solos too much to do a proper test. But when lower skilled players play with their higher skilled friends, you get matched UP rather than down. I feel like my play IQ is decent enough to theoretically be 1+KD range but cos Ive died tons when first playing the game, its taking forever to bring that number up. Great video :)

Would be interesting to know if it averages last 5 k/d for everyone in the party and tries to match with a lobby based on that. Or if it does something different like use the last 5 from the best or even worst player in the squad.
I’d love to know how I can make the experience better for some buddies when I play with them.

Nothing worse than having a game with potential that could be an absolutely amazing game, only to waste said potential by making bad/ dumb decisions
While you and other people might see this as a bad decision, every long lasting popular game has sbmm, so if we're being real it probably makes the player experience much more enjoyable, thus the reason it's in so many games
@@noahmiller4839 they do but they also have ranking Systems. In MW you simply get punished for being good.

@@noahmiller4839 R6 for example has casual play and rank play, you can separate the skill set. But you can't do that with MW. And SBMM doesn't really make the gaming experience fun. If you play in a higher skilled lobby with your friend then you get harder competition and if your high skilled friend plays in your lobby then he can crush the ops, I'm sure that ain't fun for lower players
I've been playing on girl's account and while she's Lvl 42 I'm clearly above that. But, what I noticed was dude's at 155 tanking to play in those lobbies and they're destroying lesser skilled players
As long as SBMM is performance based over x amount of matches then is perfectly fine. As long as it not done by level or wins
Great analysis Ace! Ya know, I get that SBMM has been in COD and other games in some form for a while, but for some reason it seems much more blatant in this COD. It sounds stupid, but I think its the fact that there aren't prestiges in this COD, so you just see people pushing rank 155 in every lobby if you're above average as opposed to seeing a prestige icon that you may not be familiar with if you just play casually.
This explains how it takes 20 minutes to get into a match, only to have no team in trios or quads in a game with thousands of players online at one time.

I had no idea they could skill base match make a lobby of 150 people, I thought maybe the gulag was skill based depending on how well you were doing in the game prior to dying or something but this is crazy and actually explains a lot. Definitely explains the spotty connections.

I did a significance test and the k/d ratio difference (karma and dummy account) is extremely statistically significant (p-value=1.65*10^-27). So basically there is definitely skilled-based match making (even though the data wasn’t randomly sampled)
I thought it was odd that I won 3 in my first 8 games but then none since in about 30 games
Ya, it's almost as if in a game where 150 people start, that if everything was fair and on the level, your chances of winning should be 1/150. I guess you feel entitled to winning disproportionately because you believe you're "good" ?

I was not surprised to see that SBMM was in Warzone I could definitely feel it just from playing. Im glad that you have proved it though and I wasn't just crazy. I think it definitely does not belong in warzone considering the odds of you winning the game with random players in your lobby are already super low and you don't need this stacked in your favor as well.
SBMM is the cancer of gaming I'm telling you.... It's deceiving and it destroys reality.
It's destroying putting effort in something to get better because even if I do I won't even notice since I will be placed against better players... I'd probably even feel like I've gotten worse....

@@FF-ct5dr the point is no matter how hard you try to improve, you won't feel any improvement because your opponents will just be harder. In addition to this everyone was under the impression there was no sbmm and therefore just felt bad for not doing as well as they expected. It's not good

You are literally annoyed by the fact that you're paired against opponents who are as skilled as you are. That's as sound as a chess player complaining his ELO went up so he has to play against stronger opponents, or an NHL player complaining he's playing against pros after being drafted.
