I've been growing my hair out since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, and I locked up my hair myself. Used to have a curly fro before I locked up, and now I want to go back to that. But it's hard finding people in my area to comb my hair out. And I'm just hella scared of changing my hair and potentially looking worse than I do now. Advice?
Maybe separate the dreads then comb them out. or maybe go visit a loctiicion to comb them out

Just soak your hair in the shower use hella conditioner and comb out I did mine and started my journey over bc a barber messed up my hair bc he clipped a lot of my dreads off so I cut my hair myself

As far as your question at 2:13 if the hair slows down on growing when it gets longer, in my case the answer is no.
I started my locs in 2008, I am almost 60 years old, and my locs are still growing with longest ones now almost down to the back of my knees.

I grew my hair out the first 2 years of the pandemic. Been loc’d 3-4 months and my hair is half as long as it was when I was getting it braided in high school
at this point why not just cut it off? wont you pull hair out of your scalp by combing resulting in potential baldness?
