Please be aware as I mention at the start of the video this was a Test and Tune type day at Winton, hence why there was a variety of cars on track of various different speeds. The Aston was a serious 'SportsSedan' spec car and was no doubt way faster than me, but the team were doing testing and tweaks to the car, hence why it wasn't necessarily getting away from the plucky little MX-5. Undoubtedly on a normal day, the Aston would blow my doors off. We were all out on track to do our own thing, but regardless it was fun to follow a car so impressive.
Amazing video. AGAIN. Two things, is that mph or kph? I noticed at the end the other POV at the bottom left as I was watching the DB the whole time. Time to get another 100 hp into that thing. Love your car and vids. Going to watch another now
Thank you Davo. A constant work in progress. The transmission has Redline mt-90 at the moment. I'm going to try AMSOIL stuff next time. The amber warning is for low coolant pressure, it's a little trigger happy, but I've not invested the effort to find a better solution... yet.
Aston pulled off to avoid being overtaken by a better driven car, and an MX5 at that. Nice to see an expensive car being driven reasonably well, unlike when I was at Silverstone last month when all sorts of exotica would overtake on the straights only to brake test me 100 yards before my braking points.
Silverstone was a charity event and most of the drivers of very expensive cars were there for the charity and didn’t have much or any track experience. So they weren’t to blame for being annoying. I would have so liked to have taken them for a few laps in their own cars though. GT3s, Lambos, Ferraris, Maclarens, Radicals.
Lots of different cars on the day, many slower, some faster. The Aston was a rocket most of the time. It was a test day so you gotta be aware not everyone is out there to set consistently fast times.

His horsepower figure puts mine to significant shame.... but then my car didn't turn up at the track on a big fancy truck with a full pit crew. So I guess we are even :-P

Winton is the MX-5 cup track of the week on iRacing. I knew the track looked familiar. Now I remember why! Thanks!
You bet!
That was fun to watch. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Very entertaining to watch!
What is the warning coming up on the dash?
Oil temps are hot, it was a warm day, and I have the warning limit a little low around 120degC.

Thank you my speeds are certainly KPH.
The GPS was acting a little weird for some reason so the data isn't perfect.
Great stuff! What sort of power is your whip pushing these days?
It's 'only' making about 300 rwhp or 220kw if that is your preferred unit of measurement
The cars looking dialed in 👌🏻
What oil are you using for the 6 speed and what is the orange warning light on the dash indicating?
Cheers

On the upside, you get to drive around Silverstone, I am quite jealous.

Great job mate,is this a standard 6sp or a " countershaft circlip modified " box? Seems to be copping the power 👍
All original Mazda 6 speed at the moment.
Great video mate, why on earth do they put excells in the same group as you guys?
It is an open test day so, in general, any 'race car' is on track at the same time, regardless of expected lap time.
You: Alright Aston go fast now
Him: Parks it in every turn

God video.
The Aston would be even faster if it weren't for the mass of all that bulletproof glass, the machineguns and the droppable road spikes.
I'm sure James Bond runs composite materials and space age lightweight lasers for weaponry these days!

New brake calipers and wheels?
After the issue with the brake locking, it required a pair of new wheels (i couldn't change just one) and new front brake pads.
@@Bbeavis Did you plan any video about this brake failure repair? Thx for reply.
@@xlecia00 Video coming soon, still trying to edit it all together.
You didn’t scare him mate, you humiliated him.

I feel like Excel series cars always have a hard time moving out of the way...
I do find it amusing when they hop up onto 3 wheels when moving through a tight corner :D
The aston had some weird lines in the tighter corners.
Given it was a test day, and he had a lot of traffic and was probably learning the setup on the car, it's understandable.
Turn 4 to 8, that Aston's holding you up. The only place it looked faster, is in a straight line.
It was a mighty rocket in a straight line, I am not sure what is under the bonnet of the thing, but it was impressive.
Ive been checking every couple of Hrs Brendan for the strip down vid, come on pull yer finger out...
Hah, I am sorry, I am slow with editing.
👍😊👊💥
Thank you :-)
