Hello, love!! Recipe and product links are in the description. ABOUT THE EXPERIMENT: This experiment was based on individual starting point vs. immediate results per product. Before and after per product - not before ALL products and after. I used the first product and compared immediate results to what it looked like the same day. I then waited four days to get my scalp a little dirty, used the other product and compared against its immediate results - not previous to all versions. Why? The second product got a cleaner scalp than the first one and it would be unfair to compare both results against an universal starting point - both have different starting points. This is not meant to be a proper scientific experiment. To do so, I would need a multimillion-dollar lab and a science team to fabricate exact same conditions for both products while testing for ALL possible variables, including the fact that - even if you part your hair and use a different product on each half - half of your scalp may be suffering from a more severe case than the other, so it wouldn't equate to same conditions or elimination of variables. Now, the parting in half is cute and I may use it for different stuff, but it still does not bring these results to proper scientific methods - it actually adds nothing. Again, this is about starting point and immediate results. Waiting four days had to do with getting my scalp a little dirtier and not over exfoliating it. In the meantime, I'll keep making my videos in similar ways. If you'd like to suggest realistic improvements to the methods, please do so in kind and respectful ways. There is no need to insult or write in arrogant ways - it just makes you look like a highly ignorant individual. To the rest of you, much love! And se you on the next experiment!
I’m so glad that was a handheld microscope and not a shaver! From the picture you had posted before it had scared me 🤣
I’ll definitely be trying this mask in the near future 😊
Hi Brenda..this is Steffi from India and here is a diy for exfloxiating and cleansing hair but i ain't sure if u will be able to lay your hands on these ingredients..neem,multani mitti, curd and a teaspoon or two of apple cider..mix it up n apply on ur hair completely and wash it off with mild shampoo
hahahaha glad you liked it. And no worries, more scary previews to come lmaoo
Omg, thank you Steffi!! I'm not sure I can find the neem and multani mitti BUT there are a lot of Indian beauty shops in New York, so I may be able to! thanks for sharing, love!!
@@beautyandthesavage OMG..!! You replied...!! You made my day..!!!lots of love...you are awesome...Thanks sweet..!!!❤❤❤❤
DIY scalp treatment ingredient:
- 2 tablespoons of sugar,
- 2 tablespoons of aloe vera,
- 2 tablespoons of honey,
- 1 teaspoon of castor oil, and
- 1 teaspoon of peppermint.
10 spoons of procrastination
@@butteroc I like your username i like your pfp i like your comment.
I’ll be doing this tomorrow morning thank you 😌
🙏
Thank you Lyri..💐. Wrote the following ingredient.. here !! 👍👍👍
I'd like to tell you and everybody to be careful with Peppermint essential oil, a teaspoon is too much of it if you're going to use it in mucous membranes such as lips. You should use like 2 or 3 drops. Other essential oils can be used in a higher concentration, but Peppermint is one of the strongest!
jesszf thanks. Very helpful!
You also always want to dilute it with some other type of oil. Essential oils are really intense and can actually penetrate through your skin into your veins when they're applied on their own because essential oil molecules are smaller than the molecules of your skin. This can cause health risks such as nausea, drowsiness, confusion, difficulty walking, and many more. These dangers can be avoided when the essential oil is diffused in another type of oil (castor oil, olive oil, coconut oil, etc.) because those oils can't penetrate as deeply into your skin as essential oils do on their own. It's like a small lego going through a small space, it might fit on its own but when you add it to another, larger lego, it won't be able to fall through the crack. The essential oils are the tiny legos that go missing and you could end up stepping on them. The other types of oil are the larger legos. Unless you wanna step on legos (aka have bad reactions), add the small lego to the larger lego. I hope that makes sense. 😊
@@Lexi-wi4it Yep, always dilute them in carrier oils! I didn't mention it in my original comment because in the recipe she does use castor oil and mixes other stuff, but the warning is valid, you should never use pure essential oils directly on skin
@@jessieeee Thank you, I totally get why you didn't mention it I just hadn't heard about it when I first started using essential oils and wanted to share my little bit of information so hopefully I can stop someone else from making the mistake I made the first time I used essential oils. 😊
@@Lexi-wi4it Sure, that's important! You've done right 😁
Literally life changing. I accidentally used a girl friends skin exfoliating rub on my scalp. I thought my leg was gonna start twitching. 🤣
Lmaoooooooooo
I’m watching this video again hehe :)
I just wanted to add that I always make my OWN scalp scrub so I am going to share it and it really is good
Scalp scrub :
3 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons of coconut oil
5 tablespoon sugar
2 drops of tea tree oil and 2 drops of peppermint oil
A jar and I also add a very small bit of honey and that’s it for what I make :)
Thank you so much
How long does it stay preserved? :)
As a Stylist I feel the need to step in here because I’m seeing a LOT of people recommending coconut oil. Coconut Oil isn't for every hair type and even then, it should rarely be used. Coconut oil causes protein build-up, blocking off the moisture and making your tresses more breakable, rough and dry. Massaging it onto your scalp can cause even more dryness or breakage on damaged or over-processed hair. I would recommend Argan or Moroccan oil instead and you won’t have the issue of build up. 👌🏼
Is almond oil good?
is tee tree oil safe to use?😳
It’s highly comedogenic too so it can cause acne
Coconut oil killed my hair
What about jojoba oil?
This helped soooo much. I did more sugar, less honey and waaaay less essential oils. I did maybe 4 drops total and doubled the recipe.
I've beeen trying this for about 2 weeks now, twice a week and I see a HUGE difference! No more flakes or dryness :D of course there are still a couple here and there and some slighty itchiness but I feel like that will decrease with time, the more I continue to use this scrub! Thank you so much Brenda!!
Does it still work now? And are you using the diy one?
4 days no wash isn’t that bad so it kind of proves it is good to not wash everyday
good point, missy.
But also, who has time?!
Not for every one unfortunately
My hair gets oily and gross after one day 😕
@@uhhuh2262 mine to,
I never was happy to see such a recommendation 😭 I'm having a really bad scalp for months and this video was helpful, I'll try the one you made i feel it'll have some improvement

She sounds like some celebrity I think from jersey shore
I LOVE the editing of this video!
I have really flaky dandruff and have tried so many shampoos and natural remedies and none of them work that well, but this has my dandruff gone after one try! Really helped to exfoliate my scalp and nourish at the same time! My hair feels so soft too! So many dandruff shampoos can be soo so drying! Would recommend to anyone with very flaky dandruff/ dry scalp! Thank you so much!
You should use filter coffee as an exfoliant...you will love it.
Application is easy
Very good exfoliation
Less time consuming
Comes out easily.
Just mix it with your daily shampoo and apply it.
Your hair will be super super soft and shiny
Hi, if i use instant coffee like Nescafé? Will it work the same?
+Thanks in advance
@@User14000 hi! If you’re making any type of diy exfoliant that requires coffee it will always be ground coffee!
I say this because instant coffee is made to disintegrate when mixed with a liquid to (ofc) make instant coffee.
Coffee grounds on the other hand is the actual coffee bean grounded into smaller pieces, this won’t disintegrate!!
I hope this helped😊🖤🖤
@@User14000 also, you don’t have to go out and buy fresh new ground coffee for this, you can use the grounds that you’ve already filtered to make your coffee, instead of throwing them away!
@@ofeliaonline3230 wow this was pretty helpful for me , thank you !!

I want to see what your scalp looks like after washing prior to the scrub.
Cool. I'm planning more tests on exfoliators, so I'll make a note. 👍
Out of all RUclipsr I found yours videos n reviewers are the best.....keep it up
I would love to see this kind of test on textured/afro hair.
You just do it the same way this is a scalp treatment not a hair one

I really like the way you describe and say everything.
Well Explained!!! Will surely try the DIY scalp scrub.
That's an awesome recipe... I think u should use less of peppermint oil... Like just a few drops(Less is more in this case). Also... U can use rosemary and lavender oils too instead of peppermint... N add a few drops of lemon juice(to give ur hair a slightly acidic environment which it loves)
Damn, girl!! LOVING this, thanks so much! Just got a new set of oils... so guess what I’m gonna do 😂
@@beautyandthesavage u're most welcome! ☺... N i guess u're gna them try them out soon.... 🤭
Will the recipe last longer with the fresh lemon juice or will it get bad quickly?
Loved the recipe thank you!
Loved this vid!! So helpful, I’ll definitely be trying out a diy scrub the results are amaze ❤️❤️❤️
Yayyyy!! If you do, let me know how it goes!! 💕💕
And thanks for the compliment! 🙌
Ok honestly wooow! The scrub did wonders to my scalp. I did reduce the peppermint oil though I just used 5 to 6 drops and was more than enough. My scalp is very clean and also seems so fresh and my hair texture has also improved. Will put this as a once in a fortnight ritual. Love love love it ❤️
Yessssss!!! 💕💕💕💕
@@beautyandthesavage should we wash scrub with shampoo? Or with only water
I love this video also how you showed the results that’s good I’ll try the one you made
You can also try neem powder n coconut oil for scalp exfoliation n treating any kind of bacterial or fungal problem(like dandruff)
It doesnt smell good but damn effective from the very first use
I really like your channel for its honesty. Keep it up :)
Thank you, Ashita! And I LOVE YOUR NAME!!!
@@beautyandthesavage omg! You replied!!! Thanks Brenda 💓 PS no one ever said that to be, but I like my name as it's Japanese and it means Hope 🥰
Thank you.. this is what I needed
I used 2 tbsp sugar, 2 tbsp honey, 2 tbsp aloe vera and 2 tbsp castor oil. It felt so wonderful on my scalp and it made my hair shiny and soft!.
Then you shampoo your hair???????
I've used LUSH RUB RUB RUB on my scalp for years and my hair is long, soft and super shiny and my scalp is squeaky clean 😊
Me encanta este video, gracias por subirlo! Tambien voy a hacer mi propio DIY scrub :)
Always love your blog
I wash my hair regularly but every time I scratch my scalp I ALWAYS have residue under my fingernails. I want it gone so bad!!!
Try to use scalp scrub from Frank it really helps me with that problem
Maybe your scalp is dry...try virgin coconut oil, then use rice water and wash it with mild shampoo
Use home made shampoo it's working naturally because I'm using it's result amazing one trying it's my home made shampoo
@@MiraculousBeauty how do you make homemade shampoo?
Use more moisturizer than you use pure oil based products as those contribute immensely to build up
Why am I obsessed with your voice???
#1 - 1:40 - worked, made hair shiny and looking healthy and scalp clean.
#2 - 3:23 - Worked, no added shine , but clean scalp and looks "healthy and moisturized"
5:42 final results Diy wins the day.
Thank you
Natures lab is superior because it's a scrub + shampoo in 1
@Trinity M is your comment directed at me? If yes, I didn't call her content meaningless on the contrary, I thoroughly enjoyed her content but the Natures Lab Scalp Scrub+ Shampoo has superior ingredients because it is not a separate scrub and a separate shampoo, unlike her DIY which she had to apply a separate shampoo afterwards.
The Natures Lab own is a one and done product and if you are not sure, you can check their ingredient list.
You became my favourite now gurl!
Just add coarse semolina or sugar to your conditioner..its really easy to work in your scalp...the diy will work if you spray water for massaging in specially if you have fine wavy hair like mine
That's actually really smart. I'll definitely try that.
blinking i think that would be worse since conditioner has silicones and heavy oils that can clog your pores, it would be better to make your own ✨
@@aricatm8291 just use a silicone free conditioner! 👍
I loved this soooo helpful!
Glad you liked it!! ❤️
For people with a sensitivity to peppermint I would replace it with apple cider vinegar. I can not do mint on my scalp because it actually hurts.
Tokyo Lab did leave a beautiful visible shine tbf
Loved this!!
Thanks, Victoria! 😘
I have scalp psoriasis so I do my diy shampoo. It's hell the patchy scaly itchy oh so itchy scalp. Sometimes it bleeds and it hurts 😭 I feel like just shaving my whole head and just put on a wig when I go out. 😤😧

What is your diy shampoo consist of???
@@ESTIsLaced Himalayan pink salt (coarse) finely ground oatmeal, sweet almond oil, and Manuka honey. Oh and I also bought peppermint and tea tree oil. I used both and it does calm my scalp psoriasis down.
my mother used to be the exact same, until she figured out the trigger for her flare ups was gluten and cut it out of her diet completely and it really helped with her psoriasis. i thought it might help to let you know, wish you the best

Oh my the recipe is amazing 😋😋
Gotta feed my scalp that soon
I hope you like it!! 💕
the essential oils have skincare by hyram so upset lol
witchy walter wait, what’s happening?
Brenda Blanco Skincare by Hyram is a skincare guru channel that advocates against the usage of essential oils
lmao! well it's true they're bad for the skin, but for the scalp, as someone with scalp eczema, it has been one of the ONLY things that helped my eczema (seborrheic dermatitis) calm down :) the scalp is definitely different, but ofcourse you still shouldn't over do it~
witchy walter who cares what she thinks. Hyrams skin is horrible.
@@yulana990 What's bad is when you don't dilute it. People rave about tea tree oil killing their pimples, I used to be able to use it undiluted on mine but the last time I did that it burnt my skin horribly. So always have to dilute essential oils. If you look into it properly then you'll know.
You remind me so much of Alice Braga😍 great video!

I absolutely love the naturelab Tokyo scalp scrub
I actually don't use any shampoo anymore, none that I tried, even organic, sls free etc etc didn't feel good for my hair. Now I wash with water and scrub my scalp just with my hands (I am waiting on a silicone scrub brush to come) and I use conditioner. My hair feels very good it's clean because I wash with water. I don't get oily roots anymore which I got a lot before. And it's happier over Al.
‘This is the top of the top’ 😉
I love that you took microscope and tested a brand name against a diy
I get very tired of people saying diy products are bad
I make and use a lot of diy in my beauty routine and often find them to be superior to store bought
When you shampoo your hair is a personal thing . It depends upon your type of hair . Dry hair needs less shampooing than oily hair. When your hair starts to feel greasy, whether it be in just a day, a week or a month, it is then that you should shampoo your hair. Do what is good for your hair and don't just blindly follow other people's regimen.
Your hair will thank you for it !
Washing your hair everyday is not good tho
washing oily hair too often will make it oilier actually, look it up! i used to have to wash my hair every other day, about 4 times a week, now i can go 4-5 days and i’ve only been training my hair for a few months, i hope to get to 6 or 7 days sometime!
The diy made the hairs look a lot less greasy. I wonder if it could extend time between washes...?
Thanks for the video! I dont mind you being not very scientific, heheh, what im looking for is home remedy anw. Will try out your recipe (thankfully i have them all) best wishes!
Edit: i've tried your recipe and i feel fabulous lol. Thx a million!

For the natural scrub you shampooed before the scrub and after right?
Everyone going mad at the essentials oils, I could be irritating but it depends on the person. If it's already irritated or wounds it may cause more irritation or inflammation. But then again what works for someone may not work for you, take care and make something that caters to you 💖
Please can you make a video about using soap instead of shampoo?
Wooo que impresionante. Es genial aprender cosas contigo! Un abrazo amiga!
Hola Emmanuel!!! y un gran abrazo a ti y a la señorita hermosa!!!
Gotta be careful with castor oil too, to much of it can cause irritation to the scalp promoting hair loss and developing demartitis. Experience has taught me to not to use too much of it directly to the skin as this one can be too harsh on the scalp and leave the hair looking greasy even after rinse, however it could be worth trying how it goes with your own hair and see if it works for you, although recommend to not to use it too often.
I stopped dying hair and made my own aloe vera shampoo :) but I have dry scalp so gotta scrub
