Not to mention the fact that battery farming is absolutely barbaric and the cctv footage of cruelty in slaughter houses is sickening

my aunt worked in a place like this for a few years.
any chick that fell off the rail , she'd scoop up and put in her jacket and take it home. after 4 years , she had about 61 chooks. Her little front yard had become a little eden place for this chooks, they wouldn't have lived as long as normal chooks but lived a normal life.

@Sun Wukong悟 Life is complex. Although one may eat a chicken they raised after it dies, it doesn't mean that that is the reason they raised it. Eating the chicken can be seen as a respectful kind of practice so that it "doesn't go to waste", even if it isn't for everyone. If I were to die I would rather my body be put to rest as compost for a tree or something than just sit in a box somewhere.
Also the cat/dog comment was racist because it is kinda condescending to Chinese people as a whole and you could have totally left that out. Also Sun Wukong is definitely Chinese dude

Their coop has recently burned down after a heat lamp caught fire. Luckily all 4 chickens have survived unscathed!

I remember someone said they used to work a chick farm like the one in the beginning, and they get paid really well because it takes a toll on your mental health after awhile. You have to be strong to handle all those baby chicks without getting emotionally attached, you have to handle them like objects and not like live animals. She almost broke down one time, because one chick tried to huddle in her hand for warmth and tried to sleep in her palm after being exhausted from getting tossed in cold machines all day. :(

I have lived all my life in a town where almost everyone has a mini farm where 10-20 chickens can live, they live like in paradise, people feed them regularly, they have a place where they can walk, eat grass, drink water etc, so I never understood vegans , but after watching this nightmare on the video... I fully support their fight against such factories

I like the idea of small scale farms, but the world consumes about 200 million chickens every day. Industrial farming is here to stay.
The most traumatizing part of this has got to be how some chicks got through the system and ended up between the egg shells and you see those shells get crushed Manually... No further attempts at checking if anything is still alive in there.
They are checked at least twice before that. That container is where they pour the egg shells. So you see them smashing egg shells, not chicks. Easy to read into things.

This is depressing how animals are so harshly treated, and they treat like like they are not living innocent creatures.
For Example: When the baby chicks were crushed because they were left stick in the bin with the shells, and the worker crushed the poor chick and found him dead but showed no interest in the cruelty that this chick had to die from.

Edit 2: I have checked out everyones comments and I think that I should quickly say something. It’s one thing to end an animals life when you use it for food, but when an animals life is ended for no reason at all that’s where the difference is made. I’m not expecting them to have a funeral or even really have much sorrow, but to at least show that they care about the chicks life and if they don’t well I’m sorry but that’s cruel.

(males forced hitch, females forced impregantion, give birth, baby taken away same day, fed milk replacement if female and if male goes to be made into purses generally, and the milk generally to humans for consumption)

Same although i still eat meat(mostly fish) I've taken the initiative to source my meat and dairy locally from farmers that I know that humanely raise their food and at the grocery store If I must I only eat USDA organic free range/grass feed proteins. Although conditions aren't the best it is much better than standard factory farming and has more define regulations on animal husbandry. I know it's much more expensive to eat organic and humane meats but if it's manageable to do so then please do it or even better use plant based alternatives but I understand if people don't since it's costly. But typically I don't eat too much dairy or meat so I can afford it when I do need it to cook and since switching how I source my food I've actually lost about 30lbs since now I don't over consume on meat and dairy which is awesome!!!

Sadly, these are standard practice in the animal agriculture world (due to the insane demand). Free-range farming is a myth. Most producers find loopholes to get the free range labels anyway. 99% of the animal products people buy come from places like this. You have a choice: don't buy animal products.

When we raised chickens we were gentle with the little guys they can lose a leg very easily.

The way the industry treats these animals is absolutely cruel. And yet, I'm not brave enough to drop meat out of my diet. It's so good. So I just wish for the governments to force these factories to adopt more humane methods and treat their products with respect. And beyond that, I have very high hopes for artificial grown meat
The governments are the main problem; politicians lie, they say they'll do something to get elected and how often does it actually happen? If it does, it takes literal years to get even a morsel of a promise. And _that_ is if they aren't in league with the various big business secots they are suppose to be regulating. Many government officials have hands in things like the food sectors, or are bought out by people who do.
No one has to drop meat out of their diet, but everyone _should_ be trying to find smaller, sustainable and responsible independent farms and companies that actually take care of their animals. There are a lot out there, and it will likely cost more, but you'll be getting a far better quality product that was far better sourced and raised properly, not to mention you'll be giving money to actual people and their families to boot, instead of big giant nameless corporations . . . who just turn around and funnel it into buying those politicians.
That's... One hell of a roller coaster for those chickens.. poor things..

@@lucheng1945 the government here is taking control of all farmers. There are less meat farmers here where I am in the US because the government is pushing these farmers around and essentially forcing them to sell their livestock to big factories so they can afford to feed their families.
