Khiya Hillyard Oh my god, THIS IS WHAT IM SAYING. Him with his messy gambling appearance (but still good) in Penelope. Since Lupin is meant to look weathered out too.
I'm sure that whoever was casting, would prefer a British actor for the role, such a Stephen Dillane or Tobias Menzies, but if they were going to look outside the country then Mads Mikkelsen would be a good choice.
I think Mads older brother, Lars Mikkelsen, would actually make a better Voldemort. As his voice have that - I catching way that you can’t help but listen to - For reference he plays Charles Augustus Magnusson in Sherlock and the putin inspired character in house of cards. But I think anyone having seen him playing necromancer in the 2007 movie “island of the lost souls” would agree to him being an amazing Voldemort
Henry cavill as godric gryffindor. Just add a lion's mane like beard to his witcher looks. Benedict cumberbatch as salazar slytherin. His cold and calm persona is perfect. Just keep his Dr strange looks and you have perfect salazar slytherin. Hayley Atwell as rowena ravenclaw. Rowena was an intelligent and beautiful person. The two actors of the original films I would personally never want changed are Alan Rickman and the actress of Umbridge. I can't imagine anyone else in these roles.
As a Dane I audibly snorted when you said Mads Mikkelsen play grounded characters. I guess I never thought about his international characters being that, but here in Denmark he's mostly known for playing over-the-top and unhinged characters
Mafia1997 Nah. Cedric is specifically extremely handsome and has grey eyes. He has the type of beauty that all the girls would turn their heads. Tom is attractive, but more cute-like, than captain/handsome like. Tom Holland would also look more younger than the main kids cast (which he shouldn't be), even if he was older as an actor aha. So I disagree, but I like Tom
I was kind of upset when you said you were recasting Snape, because I think Adam Driver would be perfect, but now I can't decide which I like better in the role. Although, I do really like Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of Voldemort
I'd personally chose James Cosmo as Aberforth instead, he has a certain roughness which I feel would be better in Aberforth rather than Albus, why not Sir Ian McKellen as Albus? He's the right age, tall, thin, has this gentle deep voice but can be intimidating at the same time, and we know he's already amazing as a wizard =)
Well, that depends on who's involved in the casting department. First of all, Ian was on the list of options for recasting after Richard Harris's unfortunate death, but two things kept him from taking it. He did not want to be typecast as the "old wizard" figure, and Richard Harris actually insulted his acting ability. While I personally agree with you that he would be a *wonderful* choice, I doubt he'd even accept the role. That's why my personal selection here is Michael Caine as Albus, and James Cosmo as Aberforth.
@@elainesage6346 You are absolutely right about Harris insulting McKellen's acting ability being one of the reasons McKellen didn't take the part. I just want to add that McKellen didn't make that decision out of spite, but because he felt that it would be wrong to have the part played by someone Harris did not respect. It would have been rude and it would have been like taking a dump on Harris' legacy. It's a shame, because Sir Ian McKellen would be perfect for the role.
@@MissBentuy Aaaalll of this. Yes. He would be wonderful in the role, I'd watch the hell out of a series with him as Dumbledore, but...he would probably still not take it. Even for a TV show this many years later. Even though he's so so young, though, I do think Jared Harris would be a good choice. I didn't realize he was Richard's son, but it makes sense. He has the acting chops to do the role justice, and he has a brother who's good at playing rough and tumble types. Both of them were in Carnival Row, and they did *splendidly*.
I agree that he probably wouldn't do the role... except for maybe if the showrunners want to do something a little bit edgy and do Dumbledore's gayness a little bit of justice in the new adaptation. That would be awesome now that I think about it.
Am I the only one who thinks Jonathan Pryce would be the perfect Dumbledore? Also thank you for this series, I found it so engaging and strangely comforting, it's been a tough few weeks and these videos cheered me up everytime.
I just want you to know that I’ve never teared up watching a RUclips video. Sirius Black is my favorite character and when I saw James McAvoy in the thumbnail my eyes got all watery. I don’t know why because he’s not even my favorite actor but when I saw him as Sirius I thought: “he is the one”. It’s like I finally saw my all time favorite character come to life. Thank you so much for doing this. I know he wasn’t your first choice but he certainly is mine ♥️
A big YES for James Mcavoy as Lupin, Sean Bean as Mad Eye Moody ( as you said, he can have that weathered, veteran feel, as well as that tad of madness as in LOTR ) and Benedict Cumberbatch I would see more as Voldemort than as Snape.... I feel like he would be so great as an eery and menacing character! As always I love that serie, please keep going !!!
I have a suggestion. It came to my wife and me while visiting Disney World Similar to how Family Guy cast its characters into the Star Wars universe for a trilogy of episodes, could you cast Animated Disney Characters into the MCU? I feel there's a better fit for Iron Man out there, but I thought Emperor Kuzco. Perhaps Black Widow played by Mulan. My favorite, J Jonah Jameson played by Mayor Lionheart from Zootopia. I'd love to see what you come up with because this series was so much fun to watch!
@@JBond4334 ohhhhh i was thinking of the police chief, my bad. Yeah had I not messed up in my head I would have congratulated you on a good joke. But still, good joke.
It's sweet how he thinks he'll need months for Percy Jackson... If he's doing PJO, yeah. But I'd like to see him do Heroes of Olympus, too, at least. Maybe even trials of Apollo!
Whether people agree with everything you chose or not I love that I can see the clear work and thought you put into every choice. Oftentimes people rely solely on looks but I appreciate that you take into account an actors range, talent, chemistry with other characters, ability to grow into the character, and whether they would bring something new or interesting to an adaptation!
Hear me out - Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Bellatrix Also, if we went with ageing up a younger actor to be Dumbledore, Sophie Okonedo would be an amazing McGonagall
Lord of the rings and the hobbit!!! Please! I have shared this series of Harry Potter recasting with friends. Of corse the original movies will always have a special place in my life as I grew up with the series, but love seeing to new ideas for future generations to see. Reboots are becoming popular. Look at Disney with its live action remakes for lion king, Beaty and the beast and such. Even the Narnia series is technically a reboot already as there was the 1988- 1990 bbc series! Like I said, original Harry potters will remain special to me, but I do love your new casting choices very much! Thank you!
Your second choice for dumbledore is my #1 pick by far. His voice is deep and comforting. Michael Cane as much as I love him reminds me more of professor slughorn for some reason

Came home from a 12-hour workday cleaning and sterilizing surfaces. Just to find, that my Netflix subscription has expired and I'm way too broke to renew it. And then I saw your upload. I can't even put into words how much I love you right now dude.
I've truly loved this series. You actually inspired me to start putting together my own casting for the Percy Jackson series, with I and my brother spitballing actors for the various roles and we had just barely finished the first book's casting: Bryan Cranston for Chiron: I looked all around for actors who have played great teachers, but the best teachers I could think of were both pretty much past: Robin Williams or William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), so I was at a loss. I initially overlooked Cranston and settled on Edward James Olmos, but after I gave it a few days to marinate, I realized that Cranston was almost perfect for the role, so I settled on him. Zooey Deschanel for Sally: I wanted someone who had that warm, loving, shopgirl kind of quality to her, a person a kid would describe as the best mom ever, while also having a strength to her character. My brother thought I should go with Anne Hathaway, as I can't recall a moment where Zooey portrayed the abused side of Sally's character, but I felt Anne was too big of a pick for a role that would have bit parts in later installments. Liam Neeson for Zeus: When approaching the Gods, I felt that how the world perceives them was essential to how they appeared, since that is such a major part of their existence in the world of Percy Jackson. Although I was hesitant, because he has already played Zeus before, another part of me felt that that was exactly the point. We needed someone who was literally the face of Zeus. Jason Momoa for Poseidon: The same story here. Although my initial pick was for David Hasselhoff, being a sort of Liam Neeson of the sea, my brother convinced me that Jason Momoa was the better pick. And, after seeing some of his stronger acting chops, and remembering that superbowl commercial with him all skinny as a possible glimpse at the scene of him tired and weak in Last Olympian, I made my decision. Mark Strong for Hades: Although Michael Fassbender or Benedict Cumberbatch could also work well in the role, I felt it was important to cast someone who was seen by the general public as a villain, but could display the greater depths that proved that that was not the case. Also I felt he had to have a deep voice and a composure to him that all three of these actors possess. Liev Schreiber for Ares: As with the other gods, I wanted someone who could play a burly action star, but you could also see as a bully and a villain as well. Liev Schreiber, especially in his turn as Sabertooth, really filled that persona well, and I could just see him in that scene in the diner with the kids. Plus, in his softer roles, I could see the man who would proudly show off his daughter after her defeat of the Drakon. Ethan Suplee for Dionysus: This one was a hard one. I initially tried for people like Jack Black or Jonah Hill, people who embodied the party boy in the way Liam Neeson embodies Zeus, but none of them quite sat right. Then my brother pointed me in the direction of Ethan Suplee, who I initially dismissed because I knew him mainly as characters like Louie Lastik, but after watching him in a lot of his more serious work, I was convinced that he was perfect for the role. Steven Ogg for Gabe: I actually kinda think Vincent D'onofrio is far more perfect for the role, but I felt it was a waste of his talents for such a minor character in the long run. But if paired up with Anne Hathaway, he would be perfect. I searched high and low for someone who would work that well and eventually settled on Steven Ogg, who, although he'd have to bulk up a little, has already embodied the worst of humanity with Trevor Phillips. Salma Hayek for Medusa: I chose mostly based on voice here, as she's covered up most of the time, and is described as having an accent you can't quite define. So, I pulled up a list of actresses with well-defined exotic accents and evaluated them all. None of them quite embodied Medusa the way Salma did, so I went with her. And finally, Allison Janney for Mrs. Dodds: For her, I simply wanted someone who could play a severe teacher or authority figure. I tossed around names like Jane Lynch or Mindy Sterling, but in the end, I felt Allison Janney had just the right kind of feel I was looking for. I hope this might give you some ideas for your own, but if not, I look forward to seeing who you pick instead. Thanks for all the videos!
Love these choices! I would like to ask for Aphrodite to be played by a variety of actresses of different races, heights and sizes (depending on the scene she's in) since beauty is not defined as one single thing.
@@angiemitic4520 My plan was kinda something like that, since that is how she's described in the book itself, but I still want a single actress at the base, to do all the acting and stuff, but then use other actresses layered on.
I watch through all these videos thinking "Alex Lawther would have pull a great young Tom Riddle tho" and coming to this just makes it so wholesome, great videos, loved the entire recast!

Ariel Harloff Imagine his Khan's antagonist aura, his Sherlock's asshole remarks and occasional anger, and his Alan Turing emotions & sensitivity (for when Snape's dying/revealed to be good & crying over Lily, etc).
I think your comment of Mads as Voldemort being more "psychological" is actually a really good point, and fits with Eva Green as Bellatrix. In the movies they really had to go big on the bad guys as they had relatively little time to make a huge impact. For a series however I think having deeper bad guys would be really interesting, as introducing an element of respect or even likeability in the villains would make for a more interesting story. Most importantly, I think it's vital to be able to see the mirror image between a teen aged Harry and a teen aged Tom, since the two are essentially opposite products of similar upbringings, and being able to visualise that would add another dimension to the adult Tom Riddle. Whoever plays him has to be able to channel the inner young Tom within Voldemort.
Bryan Seeker Recast MIDDLE EARTH The Hobbit - Jason Bateman as Bilbo Baggins - Danny Houston as Gandalf - Mel Gibson as Thorin oakenshield - Toby Kebbell Gollum Lord of the Rings - Topher Grace as Frodo Baggins - Joe Lo Truglio as Samwise Gamgee - James McAvoy as Meriadoc Brandybuck - Bill Hader as Peregrin Took - John Krasinski as Aragorn - Eric Banna as Boromir - Sam Claflin as Legolas - Brendan Gleeson as Gimli - Jeremy Irons as Saruman - Rosemund Pike as Lady Galadriel - Kaya Scodelario as Arwen - Tom Hiddleston as Faramir - Jonathan Pryce as Denethor - Chris Hemsworth as Eomer - Venessa Kirby as Eowyn - Sam Neill as Theoden

Don’t know why but I feel like Benedict is too antsy to be a snape. That’s also why he would suit Voldemort better. Cause Voldemort has that Sherlock ADD vibe going on that snape doesn’t. (Not that Voldemort isn’t also cold and manipulative, he certainly need to be both.) Even though Benedict really is a brilliant chameleon I would rather see Adam drivers portrayal. Or perhaps mads, who you said yourself was more psychological and down to earth. I can totally see him as a spy.
Mads would actually be amazing as Voldemort. Because if you have seen some of his Danish Film and series work, you would be even mor convinced. Because he doesn't play that kind of calm characters always. 😊
I actually love Jonathan Price as Slughorn. As for the next recasting project, I think it should be something more flawed. LOTR is even closer to perfect than Harry Potter is. I think it should be X-Men. So many people AREN'T excited by that franchise because of the damage that has been done by the films. They aren't all bad, but they become very convoluted and the quality is inconsistent. Certainly not up to current MCU standards. As a comic book fan I loved what they did with the Avengers, but if I'm being honest, the X-Men are infinitely more interesting as a team (when you have previous knowledge of the comics). Even if that isn't the next choice, I almost hope the choice isn't the most popular one (whatever it may be), because it's human nature to turn choices like this into a popularity contest.
Your recasting series spurred me on to a personal Harry Potter revival! I've since rewatched all of the films for the first time in a decade and plan on rereading all of the books, now that I've seen them again with fresh eyes. It's certainly helped me gain a deeper understanding of the story, characters and lore which has been wonderful to dive back into as an adult, now in my 30's. It's brought a much needed escape and reprieve from current global events, and couldn't have come at a better time. Thank you!
I loved this series! It was really fun to watch you recast my favourite childhood series with a fair amount of seriousness (although I choked in surprise when you said, "less handsome" because honestly handsome-ness is up to the individual!). Thank you!

Clearly you haven't seen Joe Walker as Umbridge!
@@norsegodoflove OMG! He kinda looks like Robert too

@@flurrries it was 1981

Bennybatch as Snape is my dream come true! His voice reminds me of Alan Rickman's. I think he'd be perfect for the role.
Last time I was this early, the marauders trusted worm tail
I was kind of upset when you said you were recasting Snape, because I think Adam Driver would be perfect, but now I can't decide which I like better in the role. Although, I do really like Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of Voldemort
Jason Ertl These are his second choices as opposed to changing his recasts :)
Omg, Benedict would be such a cool Voldemort! Never thought of that
I really thought Ian McKellen was going to be your second choice as Dumbledore.
Definitely Avatar: The Last Airbender :)
James Cosmo as Dumbledore would be perfect! Great shout!
Alistair Robertson - Performer YES!! Cosmo is so fucking awsome
Funny enough about Sean Bean he would probably turn down playing MadEye Moody lol because he said he is tired of dying in films
Honestly I will wait for however long it takes, just give me PJO
James McAvoy not being handsome enough? Excuse you :O
Insane.
I have a suggestion. It came to my wife and me while visiting Disney World
Similar to how Family Guy cast its characters into the Star Wars universe for a trilogy of episodes, could you cast Animated Disney Characters into the MCU? I feel there's a better fit for Iron Man out there, but I thought Emperor Kuzco. Perhaps Black Widow played by Mulan. My favorite, J Jonah Jameson played by Mayor Lionheart from Zootopia.
I'd love to see what you come up with because this series was so much fun to watch!
Mayor lionheart is played by idris elba. I see your reasoning, but he doesn't really seem to me to be a good fit.
Orson Lepherd JK does play Lionheart. Idris plays Chief Bogo
Orson Lepherd JK Simmons plays Lionheart so I thought it would be fitting for the voice. As for a character, I’m sure there’s better options
@@JBond4334 ohhhhh i was thinking of the police chief, my bad. Yeah had I not messed up in my head I would have congratulated you on a good joke. But still, good joke.
@@AngusMac_ yeah I got mixed up sorry
Your Dumbledore choice in this one is FANTASTIC! Also McAvoy for Sirius was brilliant.
Oftentimes people rely solely on looks but I appreciate that you take into account an actors range, talent, chemistry with other characters, ability to grow into the character, and whether they would bring something new or interesting to an adaptation!
a special før georges’ (and fred’s would be) birthday
"før"?
I mean, you do you. And it's a cool looking letter. But still ...
*"før"?*
Omg thanks for James McAvoy ☺️
I wasn’t convinced James Cosbo would be Dumbledore at all until he said “we loved each other” and I was completely sold. Well done sir :)
Hear me out - Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Bellatrix
Also, if we went with ageing up a younger actor to be Dumbledore, Sophie Okonedo would be an amazing McGonagall

Just to find, that my Netflix subscription has expired and I'm way too broke to renew it.
And then I saw your upload.
I can't even put into words how much I love you right now dude.
I've truly loved this series. You actually inspired me to start putting together my own casting for the Percy Jackson series, with I and my brother spitballing actors for the various roles and we had just barely finished the first book's casting:
Bryan Cranston for Chiron:
I looked all around for actors who have played great teachers, but the best teachers I could think of were both pretty much past: Robin Williams or William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), so I was at a loss. I initially overlooked Cranston and settled on Edward James Olmos, but after I gave it a few days to marinate, I realized that Cranston was almost perfect for the role, so I settled on him.
Zooey Deschanel for Sally:
I wanted someone who had that warm, loving, shopgirl kind of quality to her, a person a kid would describe as the best mom ever, while also having a strength to her character. My brother thought I should go with Anne Hathaway, as I can't recall a moment where Zooey portrayed the abused side of Sally's character, but I felt Anne was too big of a pick for a role that would have bit parts in later installments.
Liam Neeson for Zeus:
When approaching the Gods, I felt that how the world perceives them was essential to how they appeared, since that is such a major part of their existence in the world of Percy Jackson. Although I was hesitant, because he has already played Zeus before, another part of me felt that that was exactly the point. We needed someone who was literally the face of Zeus.
Jason Momoa for Poseidon:
The same story here.
Mark Strong for Hades:
Although Michael Fassbender or Benedict Cumberbatch could also work well in the role, I felt it was important to cast someone who was seen by the general public as a villain, but could display the greater depths that proved that that was not the case. Also I felt he had to have a deep voice and a composure to him that all three of these actors possess.
Liev Schreiber for Ares:
As with the other gods, I wanted someone who could play a burly action star, but you could also see as a bully and a villain as well. Liev Schreiber, especially in his turn as Sabertooth, really filled that persona well, and I could just see him in that scene in the diner with the kids. Plus, in his softer roles, I could see the man who would proudly show off his daughter after her defeat of the Drakon.
Ethan Suplee for Dionysus:
This one was a hard one.
Steven Ogg for Gabe:
I actually kinda think Vincent D'onofrio is far more perfect for the role, but I felt it was a waste of his talents for such a minor character in the long run. But if paired up with Anne Hathaway, he would be perfect. I searched high and low for someone who would work that well and eventually settled on Steven Ogg, who, although he'd have to bulk up a little, has already embodied the worst of humanity with Trevor Phillips.
Salma Hayek for Medusa:
I chose mostly based on voice here, as she's covered up most of the time, and is described as having an accent you can't quite define. So, I pulled up a list of actresses with well-defined exotic accents and evaluated them all. None of them quite embodied Medusa the way Salma did, so I went with her.
And finally, Allison Janney for Mrs. Dodds:
For her, I simply wanted someone who could play a severe teacher or authority figure.
Alex Lawther as Young Riddle was a seriously inspired choice that I never considered! He's the only one I want playing him now.
What we really need is a series where Benadryl Bandersnatch plays every single character
I would like you to do a Coraline live action remake video

Same.
I watch through all these videos thinking "Alex Lawther would have pull a great young Tom Riddle tho" and coming to this just makes it so wholesome, great videos, loved the entire recast!

Alex Lawther would be PERFECT for Tom, I can’t believe I didn’t think of that
"Recasting Percy Jackson" you say? More like properly casting, given how little they actually ended up doing before the movies went the way of the dodo.

I think he should do the MCU (i can’t see the pinned comment)

Don’t know why but I feel like Benedict is too antsy to be a snape. That’s also why he would suit Voldemort better. Cause Voldemort has that Sherlock ADD vibe going on that snape doesn’t. (Not that Voldemort isn’t also cold and manipulative, he certainly need to be both.)
Even though Benedict really is a brilliant chameleon I would rather see Adam drivers portrayal. Or perhaps mads, who you said yourself was more psychological and down to earth. I can totally see him as a spy.
purplemind93 Antsy?🤔 Have you seen Benedict in many other roles other than Sherlock, his bbc CHARACTER who is meant to be antsy?
Someone You Know yes I have. He has played several roles with that energy. But like I also said he is a chameleon and I loved him as Alan Turing.
Mads would actually be amazing as Voldemort. Because if you have seen some of his Danish Film and series work, you would be even mor convinced. Because he doesn't play that kind of calm characters always. 😊
I'm tempted to say re-cast the MCU, but I honestly think they're perfect!
what about Ian Mckellen as dumbledore? You've seen him as Gandalf and Magneto, he would do a good job
I know that is spells "Mads", but the D is silent. So it's just pronounced "Mas" :)
Thank you. I've always envisioned Cosmo as Dumbledore since his turn as Father Christmas in the Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe.
Thank you!
recast lord of the rings
That'd be quite difficult, mostly because I can't see anyone else as Gollum other than Andy Serkis, he practically owns that role.
