I am a 48 year old white American male and everytime I see someone perform a Haka it brings me to tears. I wish we had a culture so in tune with one another.
@@Fontana-sb9uiI bet you don’t have the balls to say what your country you come from🥱
Look for England or Germany find your roots
I'm a 28 year old indigenous American and everytime I see someone perform haka it brings me to tears. My culture is your culture, we're all here on turtle island, we're all brothers. We just need to tune in together.
Same. It really makes me emotional. It’s beautiful, scary and in tune with one another.
What about any cult of American Indians in states ?
I actually feel like it’s a mark of respect, warrior to warrior, to not act scared or run away, but to calmly walk in a straight line to face the certain death that haka promises. It feels like the opposing team is trying to be worthy of such an intimidating and beautiful haka.
Back in the day, when the All-Blacks would come to England, you couldn't hear the players on the field as the whole crowd would be screaming Swing Low Sweet Chariot at the top of their lungs. To fear the haka is normal. To cower before it is unforgivable.
Being Māori I can tell you that when haka is performed in this setting it is an acknowledgment of the bravery and prowess of their opponents. It should be well met. The opposing team should also be inspired to feel heart, body and soul their own pride of country and know they absolutely are worthy opponents and that they will give everything they’ve got. Of course there’s a constellation of aspects from the Māori pantheon of gods to the actual and practical as well. Funerals, graduations, war, peace, weddings, there’s a haka that can be eloquently composed and magnificently performed for them all. The principle wahine Māori knew their te reo and had great singing voices. Tihei mauri ora!
We’re Tibetan Buddhist. Everytime when I see HAKA. Love, respect, Happiness & proud moments flow through my eyes. Had a Goosebumps & we’ve to learn so many things from you that No matter what you always touched with your Roots. Sending tons of love & respect from Us.🫶✌🏻🔥✊🙌
I hope in next 50 yrs Tibet will be free and in its full glory. Namo budhay.

I was here during the game, and let me tell you, the camera does not do it justice. There's such a raw, fearsome warrior energy that comes off of these women. Hearing the shouts and singing is such an electrifying experience, especially in person.
Wow. I envy anyone who sees it in person!
That must be awesome.
I know right!! One thing I love about the haka is the look of ferocity on the performers faces
Did they win finally?
That's fine but who won?
Did They win?
They really did the Haka in singing voices and I love it!
It’s called a Karanga it’s a ceremonial call
It’s called a karanga it’s a welcoming done by the women to welcome manuhiri (guest) in this case because we hosted the women’s World Cup this year it was a welcome to the Australian team and all other teams in the tournament.. The Black ferns won the World Cup in that tournament to

@@yayaseen127 Oh, okay. Just making sure because I’m American, and it’s already a stigma Americans have with not respecting others’ cultures. 😅 But the culture of Pacific Islands is very beautiful, and I love learning about it.
Im Zulu and we chant the same way they do Haka. For us we do it mostly when we narrate personal or clan names or when we fight wars or struggle for freedom, It's always intense and meant to express deep emotions. Boy i love New Zealand for their great preservation of their Culture and tradition. Impressive.
This is not really a traditional one they had to make one for the woman because the other ones are masculine and woman weren’t aloud to do the Haka traditionally
@@ruthlessgaming3869 im saying how they have remained traditional generally. But i hear you.
@@ruthlessgaming3869 I'm guessing you have no idea what went on there??? Karanga, whakatau, wero - 100% appropriate & traditional. Yes, wahine haka, though its different to the men. Perhaps leave the cultural explanations to those living the culture.
@@mostpeople_ I am Maori
@@PipiakaMe-bx3uh yeah women did do a different haka but it was different to the male war haka’s and look your tribe can say that they had women warriors but from all the research I’ve done on the musket wars there were no women warriors but women did follow the war parties as camp followers on campaigns to keep the men company and cook and for Tapu ceremonial reasons but women on the frontlines did not happen say for like the very rare few and I ain’t talking like Viking women rare which is a lot rarer than shows like Viking try to depict but I mean even rarer it was only the New Zealand wars were you start to see women taking a bigger role in combat as they would be in the forts loading guns for the men to fire at the enemy and this was only due to the fact that a large portion of the male population was wiped out in the musket wars
Now this is what needs to be shown when people say Haka is a gimmick. Ka mate has been overused and people don’t care anymore. This is goosebumps. This is history. This is a story. So incredibly proud watching our Wāhine perform this, especially in front of a home crowd. So proud 👏🏻
Ka Mate is a real haka from the Ngati Toa tribe. ABs have adopted, shortened and commercialized it for their own use. Don't Down play it

As a Scottish ancestry living in Canada try going to Highland games. They are amazing
@@Human4PeaceAs a Scot who has visited a Māori place of welcome. Picture the lone piper and make that a Māori warrior singing in the hills. Then know how they feel and the Scottish warrior would feel it’s the same. Stirs the heart and takes you to another place. Like the sound of the bagpipes coming over the hill.
Definitely the best one i have ever seen. I saw many videos of the all blacks and absolutely loved it. I think the ferns somehow did it even better! Much respect
To see the haka performed so well by the whole team (Māori, Pacifika, European), and then to receive affirmation from across the world is such a credit to our Women. Most of the Māori women in the team have been nurtured in our Maori culture - it 100% makes a difference to the delivery - and even the content. For our international viewers - The beginning part was a welcome to our visitors (with no irony intended related to the contest about to start) - this was spectacular. These words only make sense when you are speaking as 'home people' - so this part is unlikely to be performed overseas.....And when the haka is delivered like this there is no translation needed for the second part (lol).
@Hamish Banish I like the equality ideals of a good contest too. I do think culture can make an event or occasion a little more memorable - especially if it is authentic and honours the contest- think big marching bands that play before grid iron games in the US or the elaborate ceremony before Thai kickboxing contests. Most visiting teams / athletes/ fans savour the experience. Try talking to the Irish team / fans that defeated the All blacks in 2022 - they rate the series win as the single most significant moment in their 120 years of playing test rugby.
@@dallashibbs6540 That's because ireland have mostly been s*** in their rugby history.
What is haka, I come accross this for the first time. Is it a local dance practice or something else. I read comment of some people saying it brought tears to their eyes, why?
@@rajveerkumar642 The haka was a war dance that Maori tribes would perform in front of the opposing army before the battle to intimidate their opponents & to act as a war cry for themselves.

The BEST Haka of all time .... is the one that the stuntmen for 'Lord of the Rings' performed for brilliant, kind, wonderful Vigo Mortensen ! THAT was the most stunning, the most thrilling I've ever witnessed ... it was the first Haka I saw and all the other ones that I looked up on YT were not as phantastic & impressive like those ones. The most important thing in a game played by a team is to function as a team. Nothing says more „We‘ll fight together!“ than a Haka.

Wow! How intense was that!,introducing the teams to new Zealand, welcoming to Auckland then laying down the challenge...magnificent ❤🏉
The Haka is something that is truly mesmerising, I see it a few year ago when New Zealand beat England at twickenham, even though the fans drowned it out with swing low sweet chariot it was still incredible
The Kaka should be Banned, in Foreign-countries....as it's an Affront to those-Hosts(1stly), & Obviously, Gives the AB an Unfair-advantage(as the other nations, only Have their Anthems, for Inspiration....although I'm Sure, many also have their Own(Pictish, Zulu, etc)-war-Cries....which would just Add-time, to matches(but I wouldn't see a problem, if the Home-team were Allowed to perform, their countries(Defensive)-battle-Cry)) . 💪
