The accomplishments of Jim Mora Sr. gets overlooked often times because of his rants with the media. He turned around some losing franchises at the time, especially the Saints.
People always wanna talk about his rants, he does NOT get the credit he deserves for being a good football coach. Not just for what he did for the Saints, but was instrumental in drafting Peyton Manning to the Colts and reviving one of the worst teams in the league
I always thought he was a good coach any fires today get baby so much and that's why they're not as good we can use another guy like Jim Mora in the league
Used to live in Palm Desert, CA. You won't find one person who has something negative to say about Mora. Such a class act. With him it's not about being wrong or right but 100% real with yourself and others. With JM, you know what you're getting. What a guy!
“Strong men also cry.” Yeah, I know. Jim Mora senior taught us that. This man deserves more respect for caring about the game he loves and job he once gave his all to.
Jim Mora is all f-ing heart! He loved his players and loves the game and that makes him a better man and a better coach than most! I bet he is an awesome dad. I'd love to have had a man like him in my life growing up!!
God Bless Jim Mora! A True NFL Coaching Legend and Very underrated. He may not have been successful in the postseason but he laid the ground work and foundation for 2 teams that became successful. Not to mention, developed many successful players in the league who became house hold names.
He was the first to get the Saints winning seasons. His honesty let the fans know exactly what was wrong. Today Dennis Allen just smiles after getting railroaded by almost every team.
I couldn't agree more. The gist of what he was saying can be applied to *so* many people - on countless topics - who think they know but never will. I've thought of this rant so many times over the decades when I've heard people going on thinking they've got it all figured out.
I prefer the one where the Saints fans were cheering the fact that Wade Wilson was injured. "Sick, sick, sick people! Mentally sick! I thought it was horrible, disgusting, embarrassing, shameful, it stunk! ...Those are sick people! Sick in the head! They oughta get their ass thrown right out of the stadium!"
Lucky enough to see mr mora almost every day on the course here, not gonna mention which, but he’s a class act through and through. Always greets everyone with a big warm smile and inquires how us staff are doing In a way that shows he actually cares about our wellbeing.
You know, I'd be proud to have a man like him as the head coach of my favourite football team, he's honest, passionate and open and he never gives up, what more could you ever ask for?
The first rant is so funny because he did not waste no time. He came straight into the press conference with the rant on deck. "We didn't try to run the ball.." Lmaooo
Prior to Sean Payton becoming the head coach Jim Mora was easily the winningest Coach in Saints history at 93-74. Mora's accomplishments get overlooked much of the time.
Actually I think the funniest part of this video was the “useless” exchange with that reporter. Mora let him have it and it was hilarious.... especially when he told him that two of his comments were both dumb. 😂
He was a good coach. The Saints were an expansion team without a prayer and they had several winning seasons with him. Those were not underachieving years like say the 49ers going 8-8 with Singletary.
Actually it was because he didn’t want to fire Vic Fangio the colts wanted him to fire Fangio and Mora said no…it’s in an interview he did with Steve sabol
Mora's 93 wins were 66 more than #2 (Bum) on the Saints' coaching list at the time. Tom Fears: 13-34-2 JD Roberts: 7-25-3 John North: 11-23 Ernie Hefferle: 1-7 Stram: 7-21 Nolan: 15-29 Bum: 27-42 Wade: 1-3 Mora: 93-78 Rick Venturi: 1-7 DItka: 15-33 Haslett: 46-52 Payton: 162-87 (doesn't count 2012 suspension)
At least he is remembered for something. There are so many losing coaches that have been forgotten. For example his son was also a losing coach and nobody remembers him.
Since most if not all of the "A Football Life" shows on NFL Network have a happy ending, I doubt there'll be one on Jim Mora since his career had a bitter ending. But this is the next best thing. Brilliant video!
The polar opposite of Dennis Allen. Sean Payton was like Mora, except he used that energy at the practice facility instead of the cameras. Aside from Payton, Mora is my favorite Saints coach.
The Stars where a dam good team. If they brought that whole team into the NFL they would not have been the worst. I know I watched every Stars game. Thank you coach.....Noah
No man they would have been the worst by far. You'd make 5X as much money as a kicker in the NFL than a star in the USFL. Not one player in the USFL would even make am NFL roster
I want to care as much about something, anything as Jim Mora did about football and coaching football. I don't know what it feels like and I am damn jealous
He looked better in 2017 than he did in 2001 - Faulk was exactly right. Although he probably misses coaching, the stress free life of not coaching probably added years to his life.
At 12:26 Peyton grabs his ear like Carol Burnette used to at the end of her show to tell her mother she loved her. Was Peyton telling someone he loved them?
Archie Manning was the quarterback for the Saints for ten seasons. Just want to clear that up in case somebody doesn't know. It was said that Peyton Manning would deliberately throw those interceptions, just to spite Mora. Because prior, it was also the popular consensus among fans that Saints would deliberately lose games, but that wasn't really the case. The Saints would always run out of steam and be completely exhausted by the end of the last quarter, some say because Mora would push them too hard. Mora was a legendary coach and it's sad. Some of the clips in this video have never been seen before. Mora deserved the world. Mora absolutely transformed the Saints. There was no Internet then. Absolute legend.
When he retired he was the only NFL coach in history with 100+ wins that never won a PLAYOFF?! game. He was later joined in that exclusive club by Marvin Lewis.
good vid. yea jim mora is one of those types of ppl where when they get emotional it can take over and they make decisions based off emotion rather than logic. Good guy tho
Jim Mora really should’ve not been fired from the Colts when he got fired. But on the token I think Jim Mora should’ve gotten another opportunity to coach another team.
Love Jim Mora. Dude is so ridiculously funny and doesn’t even realize it
True
He realized it lol. Much the same Ditka did

not because or his rants, because of that donut he's got as playoff wins in 6 tries
Kamel Benbara he was to conservative, but I'll be danged if the 2012 Seahawks or the 2017 Falcons couldn't have used him

1:12 Wow that New Orleans native looks like he could rip defenses apart if just given the opportunity

I hope he gets a shot in the NFL!

I've been a Saints fan since 72. Coach Mora changed the entire culture.. I got nothing but love for him

Hey 👋
Saints fans Love you, Coach Mora. We had some great times, some big wins, and lots of excitement.
1987-1992!

Allen is the definition of a Tool…Mora did so much for the saints and colts but sadly he’s only remembered for his rants
Man, this dude is ageless. He's had white hair longer than I have been alive lmfao
Have you seen Larry King? Dude looked old in the '70s.
If it makes Coach Mora feel better, I prefer the "You. Will. Never. Know" rant to the "Playoffs?" rant.
I agree 100%, I have it saved im my itunes playlist, that and Herm's "you play to win the game" rant

I miss that guy. He may have a few soundbites from different interviews but he def improved the teams vs what he started with
Even in his older age he is very candid. "19 years, you have to work at that."

He was one two point conversion away from a clean sweep of the USFL championships

He was a good coach. The Saints were an expansion team without a prayer and they had several winning seasons with him. Those were not underachieving years like say the 49ers going 8-8 with Singletary.
Well we found out why coaches are so tight lipped nowadays with the media. Mora’s criticism of Manning throwing 4 interceptions cost him his job.
