Always such a delight to catch up with you! I love to stitch all the holidays, but Halloween is my favorite! Size doesn’t really matter to me, but small ones light a fire in me to do more and more stitching because they’re so quick and satisfying!
So appreciate you stopping by and for your kind words!! I honestly have begun to feel the same about Halloween stitching. It's really fun to get into the swing of the holiday and fall season but it doesn't have any of the stress of other holidays that limits stitching time 😉
Hi Joanne, Happy New Year. I stitch whatever calls to me, from ornaments to full coverage and everything in between. Great work on your wips. You are doing so well for a newbie I usually do a start on New Year Day and my birthday.
It’s such a great hobby and community… it has made starting out so much fun! I agree about stitching what calls to us. I hope you enjoy your current projects and WIPs!
Always enjoy watching. I learned how to stitch my senior year in high school while working with a work/school program by a coworker in our local school board office. Stopped stitching in early 90's, with children and work didn't have much time. Picked it back up a little about 10 years ago but the passed couple of years have been stitching a lot more, mainly monogamous, may have 2 or 3 going at a time. Usually 1 big project and a couple smaller ones. I enjoy stitching anything with hens or farm life. I am currently working on This is the Day by Plumstreet. I started watching flosstube about 6 months ago and I have been hooked. Love seeing all the patterns and ideas.
Janet, What a journey you've been on with cross stitching - thank you for sharing. It reminds me a lot of my mom's experiences and I'm so glad that both you and her are back at it and enjoying it. I think stitching only a few things at a time is very wise and I'm looking forward to trimming my WIPS down a bit. 😊 Thanks for stopping by and for commenting!
Enjoyed watching your video😊. Although I am an "old Stitcher" I am finding many new things to do... always learning something new! I love all your projects!!😊💗
I'm so glad you enjoyed it and I agree that there is always something new to learn. It's inspiring to connect with all of you here on Flosstube - such wonderful inspiration and motivation.
What a fun WIP parade! I loooove that Wizard of Oz stitch. It's in my files, I'll start it one day! I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on it. Happy New Year!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! The Wizard of Oz pattern has been a lot of fun, and I’m hoping to be able to make good progress. Happy New Year to you as well!
I really enjoy your flosstube. I also started cross stitching again this year and have gotten hooked on it. I also live in Southern California and I had the opportunity to go to the Attic the day after Thanksgiving. So I really enjoy your stories and your work. Thank you
How special to be back at it and enjoying cross stitching so much! And your trip to the Attic sounds amazing. Such a fun place to get to poke around and explore. Happy stitching!
What a fun WIP parade! My current WIPS are Summertide Blessings by Plum Street and Christmas in July by Plum Street. I do not stitch seasonally 😂 I grabbed an 18 ct soft Aida for the first one and LOVE it! I am enjoying the one thread look and thankfully I don’t need magnification, just good light😁 Looking forward to your next video and I can’t wait to read your next book, my mom and I both love your novels.
That's great to hear about 18 count aida. I don't think I've tried that one but would definitely like to. I agree about good lighting and that it can be enough at times. Thanks always for your kind comments and I hope you have a wonderful New Year!
Love your recap!!! I too worked on nettle but put her away for a time. Previously I did Maggie may who is also an adorable bunny. I love the little women stitch you did!
Thanks so much for tuning in and for your kind comment! Maggie looks like such an adorable stitch as well! I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't fully complete Nettle in one go but hopefully we'll both finish her soon. 😊
I am really enjoying following along on your cross stitch journey. Your projects are so varied. I am also enjoying your books. I have read the Blackbird Mountain books and just downloaded The Gold in These Hills. Happy New Year....I look forward to seeing your progress on your Lion.
Hi Linda, That means so much for you to have read and downloaded those books. I really hope the newest one is a blessing to you and that you enjoy getting to know the characters of Blackbird Mountain. Happy reading and stitching!
Thanks for sharing! I too started cross stitching last August! I have been stitching on 32 ct linen and lugana. Not ready for 36 count yet but maybe soon. I'm afraid I won't be able to see the tiny holes..lol!
So nice to know there are others out there starting out around the same time! I agree that 32 count is lovely. I enjoy that one as well. I hope you're having tons of fun on your stitching and it sounds like you are!
Such fun - I am getting close to a finish on "The Bookshelf" chart to hang in my "library". It is cute but really dull colors. Someday I will learn how to alter them. Congrats on your finish - so dear.hugs
I've seen that chart and it looks so fun. I think the idea of changing up the colors is really smart! Maybe you could start with one or two to see how you like it. :) Happy stitching!
Regarding monochromatic pieces, I'm working on a Modern Folk Embroidery called Peace to My Friend. 28 ct is my favorite. I like Quakers and pretty much anything with birds. Glad to have found your channel. Your bright spirit shines through.
So kind of you, Kara, and I love hearing about your favorite projects in return. The birds and quaker pieces sound really sweet and refreshing to work on. 🐦
First time watching! Nice video. I should try a monochromatic piece. They say they are simple. Not sure what one to get. I like blue colors. Keep up the good work!
So glad you stopped by, Margaret! You reminded me of a project I have saved in my wish list. I haven't stitched it, but it might fit the bill for what you're looking for :) www.etsy.com/listing/1353334587/christmas-village-cross-stitch-pattern?ref=user_profile&pro=1
thanks that was fun! The 32 count decision about one thread or two is always tricky... probably two is "standard" for 32, but sometimes a "lacy" look is what you want. 36 is definitely better at one. And some color threads seem too fat to do 2 on 32... while other colors fit very nicely. If you like the finished size you get with a 32 count project... might I suggest 16 count aida? I can even easily do two threads on 18 count aida... the structure just lends itself better to "fatter" threads. I've tried almost everything over the last year, and for ease of stitching, and manageable size results, I'm really liking 18 aida. best wishes, and hoping your book launch next year goes well!
I really enjoyed your comment and appreciate the tips on fabric count and thread count. I'll keep this in mind! Thanks also for the warm wishes on my book launch. I appreciate that. Happy stitching!
Hi I’m a Californian too. I did my 2025 plans on my flosstube channel a couple of weeks ago and one of my plans is to do a birthday start in March. I enjoy watching your channel. Laurie aka Cloudy Nook Stitches ⛅️ Happy New Year
Laura, I look forward to visiting your channel and seeing your plans for 2025. Thanks for visiting my channel as well. Isn't it some warm weather we are having in California?! Happy New year to you as well!
Hi Joanne, I'm stitching the Blessing by Erin Elizabeth on red with white floss I love monochromatic stitching and I just finished Maggie Mae but I'm afraid to finish it for fear of goofing it up. You are so enjoyable to watch thank you for sharing. HAPPY NEW YEAR😊
That sounds lovely, Sandra. Her patterns are so pretty! I absolutely get it - I've been nervous to finish Nettle too for that same reason. I'm so scared to cut or sew her wrong. Hopefully we can both give it a go and maybe give her a little extra edge for peace of mind. 😉🎃
I am interested in stitching on Aida. I am 83. My sight is not great. I like stitching the little pillows and smaller pictures , not full coverage. Any ideas are helpful. I do like the different Santa's that are small.
Aida is something I enjoy as well and my mom also loves it. If you have a chance to watch my video "Yard sale haul with mom" I think you might get some inspiration with the smalls she's chosen and the methods she uses as she also struggles with her eyesight. I hope it helps and brings you a smile.
Hi Joanne, I am a fairly new stitcher and was thinking of stitching Nettle. Would you be able to tell me what you found challenging about stitching her? I am trying to determine if this particular chart is above my skill level. Thank you!
Great question. She's actually a lot of fun to work on and the stitching isn't very hard. What I found challenging were a few things. One was doing her on 36 count as I can only do that well if I use a magnifying light and mine happens to be kind of uncomfortable. The second is that I was trying to finish her in the month of October so it was just a lot of little stitches over and over and I was losing the fun of it. But I'd say if you allow yourself a slightly larger fabric size and to not put too much pressure on yourself, she is actually quite fun. I hope that answers you!
I enjoyed your WIP Parade so much. ❤
Thank you so much!
Enjoyed your video! Love your WIPs!
Thank you so much, Dona!
I just found you. Love your progress on your wips. Happy stitching!
Karin, I'm so glad you found my channel and thank you for your sweet words! Happy stitching to you as well!
