I was speechless after that Wolfe attack
I'm not a survival expert, but my profession requires me to take constant safety courses. You are becoming textbook complacent. I know its just a game, and the 500 day grind is real, especially for a content creator, but the Zak I started watching 2 years ago would not have taken meat out in an aurora at half health in a zone he knows is dangerous. Your skills are solid and you obviously bank on them, but that's is not how you get to 500 days. As someone who has yet to make it there with nearly a thousand hours played, I know! Vigilance!

Watching this video made me think of 2 things.
A) unplanned calculated risks are very risky.
B) New drinking game: every time Zak says I need to make more arrows take a shot.

You know you’ve been playing TLD for a long time when a wolf very nearly makes you dead and you not only don’t use a stim but also still head out into the cold to investigate next step in tale 😂
Also, I think the soundless auroras (the ones that bug) can be some of spookiest in far territory, especially when you can still hear the wail of the winds

I think Rudiger believes that there's a barrier preventing him from accessing his powers of insight at will. The machine is intended to break through that barrier, possibly by breaking down the mind's connection to reality, thus accounting for the symptoms experienced by the workers. The bunkers might be to test the range of the effects. Not sure what "the transmitter" would be or how that would differ from the device you already encountered.

There's one more wolf alive… best to watch at 1:17:00, including the minutes before and after, all while Zak is talking: From the lights in the middle, further down, in the shadows, there is a constant movement.

Hello Zak. I want to apologize for my comment in your previous video about the existence of the second bear. You were right. It's the same bear that makes the long route from the Smoker's Cave to that rope behind the Enduring Waterfall. I learned a lot from your videos and I almost misinformed you with my silly comment. And what a great video this is! Pure emotion and my heart beating like crazy. Thanks a bunch!

I have done the exactly same thing the first time and couldn't understand why i cant progress the Tales.
The wolf attack i was like "oh god nooooooo!". This is why i always take the armored vest with me in ZoC. Way too many wolves that also ignore fire. Wolf struggles are almost unavoidable. I don't take risks. Not anymore.
Even before the wolf that took your condition to 1%, you had a near death experience. The first wolf that charged you and you didn't have your bow in hand (6:26) could have easily ended the run.

Found your Channel some days ago i truly Love this game, I had a period of 3 months without internet but when thr dlc came lost my 300 days plus account so im aiming for 500 again too

When the After Action Review report is published, it will show Zak was operating from the perspective that there were no nearby wolves left to be concerned with. Once that was obviously not the case, Zak's future boiled down to being able to hit a low-probably shot while the wolf was bobbing and weaving on rolling unlevel ground. Zak makes that shot 25% of the time. I make it 1% of the time. By the way, I have the same shot success with Scruffy. If you know, you know.
Anyway, Zak thanks for the series and take this experience as the RNG Gods blessing you with another chance to continue. :)
Whew! You're the only one I've watched finish this. Yeah, I agree on the story. It could have been more interesting. That was the spot to get weird, and they kinda dropped the ball there. Maybe further clarification going forward? He did hint at an "event" and seeing a "horizon"...
That’s a difficult wolf nest beside the helicopter. I completed the task during electrofog, crouching for a lot the time, and killing wolves while crouching if they got near…
I dam near cried Zak dont u ever ever give us a heart failure again 1 percent my god man. Only thing saved ur but was u didnt get a bleed effect. And ur first person i seen go that far on buried echos. Great great video bud.

Zak, wanted to tell you about 2 things. 1. I'm on the craziest interloper right now where the game is showering me with loot, but also hardships to match. 61 days, 50 blizzards. One blizzard lasted over 20 hours and I've had multiple double blizzard days.
Other thing, this is the only thing I know about the game that i never seen you mention: there's another notes section in the daily log. Each day has its own page of notes.
Oh I'm loving the intros, great job changing them up and giving em nice themes
I do use the notes in the days, usually to track moose kills and curing time. I used it in an earlier episode and some other videos, though I dont use it very often

at 32:00 i would have loved if you were light - well let's break down the cardboard boxes and the crate - just to make sure that there is nothing missing in that room - since it acutally is a hard room to get to :O
I believe you need to consider changing the theme music for the videos from what you are using now to something that more closely represents the current style of play,
My suggestion would be a song from the 70's rock bang Molly Hatchet, and the song "Flirtin with Disaster" if you know the song, you'll understand and if not I urge you to seek it out and listen, it fits pretty good.

I was expecting the act reading the (unskippable) log to get you in life-threatening danger. The wolves really were a surprise.
Obviously we need to make a campfire near the helicopter crash site, especially in higher difficulties. Any first time Tales players die during that part?

At the first security chiefs log, I imagine she was reading to the trapper in Episode 2, who was clearly more than a trapper. He told Macenzy to say “Wintermute” when he reached Perseverance Mills, so I suspect that’s her callsign.

I don’t know if this is normal but I was at bleak inlet. Killed all the wolves at the cannery (4 of them) then that evening was an aurora and 5 more spawned. Is it normal for the aurora to respawn or reset the wildlife around the area? Is that maybe what happened with these wolves? Glad you made it out of that! Can’t get any closer to death than 1%
It can happen, though at the cannery the wolves are event triggered when you go the obstacle course.

Something I've learned about the poisoned wolves is even after being injured they have a chance to come back to try to attack you again, I shot one in the midsection with an arrow and had a very short struggle where I probably used my axe unless I used something else accidentally idr and it ran off but soon came back with the arrow still in him to try again, made getting my arrow back easy but interesting to learn. This was on stalker difficulty they may not do that on easier difficulties
My run to 500 days ended at day 407 In the aurora mine… this was traumatic.

So dumb, because i brought food to stay there at least 10 days, if i get trapped.
@@AmplifyChris Feel your pain. That mine scares me like more than timber wolves do (panic as well). Planning to cook some anti-claustrophobia food and rosehip pies and wait for the next aurora down there.
I ended up dying leaving that Aurora mine a few weeks ago. I was burned badly (my fault lol) had no rose hips or pain pills and left the mine where a bear appeared over the hill which I killed before he could maul me. I thought I was going to be ok then 2 aurora wolves attacked and one got me and brought my health to like 2% with blood loss affliction and I couldn’t use the stim or bandage in time and bled out in seconds. It was a sad sad day. I just did the Aurora Mine last night again and was super cautious and then slept till day time before I went back outside. Can’t feel rushed in that mine or you’ll burn yourself to death. Literally and if you survive and leave before day then you get aurora bears and wolves to deal with. Fun times!

It has to be said that you are becoming too overly confident getting from one point to the next with your health stats at such a risky level plus moving in an aurora environment. Understandably, we know your a veteran player and shouldn't have to remind you of being a bit more cautious. However, you are playing Russian roulette and that bullet is getting closer to being in the chamber. So please do us all a favor and consider all scenarios before you leap. It would be so unfortunate if this run were to end because of being unprepared. You are too smart and savy so please slow down just a bit. It's exciting to see some drama but don't die from it...

"Can you believe that?" sadly, i can. Got all 4 of them there too. But the firebarrel didn't spawn in that run, so i had to make a campfire and it turned out lucky for me - no way i would shoot them without the protection.
Fire barrels do scare wildlife, just not during auroras, which is why he charged. Surprised on his pathing though, that was jank
@@Noxen74 O, thanks for pointing this out! I wasn't sure about that. (it was an aurora back then; or maybe a glimmer fog? idk. but i was just getting to the crash site, so definitely "radio is working" conditions)
@@i-will-biteglimmer fog has normal predators so they are still scared by fire. Even without auroras, poisoned wolves are tricky with fire. Even if you hold a torch, they might still charge you, you actually need to throw the torch at them and use it to create space. Their pattern is approach, stop at edge then decide to charge or flee. During the stop phase is the best time to make sure they flee
@@Noxen74 i never actually had trouble with them (in a sense that it never came to struggles) but now i see that i might have been TOO cautious about them - i wasn't sure if just torch would work so i either killed them from a distance or used camfire. it's nice to know. Thanks!
My memory of the tale is a bit fuzzy but didn't it say in the first entry basically: "explore the mine - it's shady. find key at the crash"? So like your character already knows to go to the mine (buildings included) and the helicopter was a stop on the way there. But maybe it's just how i made sense of it:)
