I choose to use it in many cases to highlight the differences between the former NYCTA R44 units and the railroad-class units on SI. The B&O purchased ME-1 cars built in 1925 which were replaced by these units. R211 units designed for SI will also hold the name ME-3.

There is no North or Southbound....it's Eastbound from St.George to Tottenville,and Westbound from Tottenville to St.George
You are correct, but since the line has been isolated from other trackage, I feel that it is easier to understand using North/South these days.
