      It doesn't look like the well was much deeper than it is now when it was last used though. In some of the older videos you can clearly see an old submersible pump that was pretty much completely above the water.

    • @rebeccabrooks2964
      @rebeccabrooks2964 Год назад +7

      @Ragnar8504 my son explained to me that old wells collect sediment and the pump is typically moved up for years upon years until the well becomes unusable. Of course, he hasn't seen this well and could be wrong but a cleanout is probably the least expensive way to find out. I like his plan because it would also rule out or find a collapse.

    Nice to see the switch up for things happening around the site (especially the pool) but sorry to hear abt the delay on roof timber. Somehow missed the fact a mill was going in! Great to be able to utilise your lumbar that needs to be removed.

    Exciting to see the progress on the Chateau and it's grounds. Dan, Nick & Cameron you are doing a great job! Moving along fast too. The mill will be a good addition. I look forward to your next project. A old stone swimming pool very cool. 😊

    Good job of dismantling the old fireplace.

    I live in a 280 y.old granite nobleman's home in NW Spain. We have a very similar "pool" (lined on the side &floor with stone) to this, but it is NOT a swimming pool. Rather, a natural spring runs into this area, where water is accumulated (roughly 60k litres). The water can then be released under pressure via one of 2 drainiage holes +/-25 cms. dia. located in one of the vertical walls, at the base. Surrounding fileds located at a lower elevation can then irrigated at will. My counsel is to go slow at the baseline and look for the holes-- there may be roots to a wayward tree growing into the hole, so try NOT to break the stonework when removing. Good luck.

    Inch by inch...but really you've accomplished so much already and a saw mill, how exciting and firewood and mulch...fun stuff...!

    Even if you repurpose the stones in the pool area and put in a pool to code, that would be such a nice addition to the Chateau for guests. (If you turn it into an inn or something)
