My oh My Dan;..the Help is getting younger and younger...but so adorable!
sunshine on Masonry makes everything so cheerful on the worksite!
Great fun to see your sons with their "equipment" helping out. Seeing Nick with the boys was awesome. Good luck with the wood tomorrow.
Those little boys will quickly follow in your footsteps, Dan!
Hopefully they’ll get trained before they get on a building site
Lime was used to take the burn smell out of a burned building, when rebuilding them. I used it in the 60s on burned out building in Boston, MA. working for my Dad.
A huge salute to the Mother of the adorable boys.
Such patience.
Good progress Dan.
Greetings from England.
And Sweden
And Texas,USA.
And Austria
and my axe!
Love the boys having toy Stihl saws. Well done Dad!
After I watch each video, I scan through the comments. There are so many people from around the world watching, giving advice, worrying and cheering you on. You have certainly created a dedicated community, Dan. I am happy to be one of them.
Love how Jack and Thomas are working with Dad and crew!
Oh Dan how sweet the boys having matching equipment like Dad!❤ Dan please sweep your scaffolding down.
Its a worksite. It gets dirty
I think he leaves some of it there on purpose... to reel us in. 🎣 It works too. Telling a story.
Good grief, what next!
Does make my heart skip a beat when he just carries the wood and walks along that scaffolds I must admit.
Oh and while you’re doing the sweeping a bit of dusting wouldn’t go amiss 🤣
Good morning from 🇦🇺. And happy Australia day to all you Aussie's on here
Happy Australia Day to you as well! 🇦🇺
🇦🇺🤗
Happy Australia Day from Melbourne!
Aussie Aussie Aussie!
South Australia here, Happy Australia Day.🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
It's always good to get another bit of the floor in, gives you more room to work and places to store stuff.
Plus it is one more element to help it look just a bit more complete.
Most important, it acts as a crash deck enabling access to remove loose material and also stop material falling a great height onto people who insist on swanning around without head protection. As well as offering storage and stability.
This should have been done all over the chateau before wasting time on non urgent items like planting, trees, or picnic benches
Just basic construction and safety sequencing.
Your boys with their tool toys are just adorable! Lovely how you and Nick were giving them rides in the big boy machines. Saw the cut/bruise on your hand, hope it is healing well. I know you are trying desperately to get that roof on. Can't seem to get a break on the wood needed. Also looking forward to the clean up. How you don't trip on all the debris is a wonder! 🙂
He just doesn't keep those bits. 😉
Training them kids for free old traditional child labor... sneaky Dan! 😂😂
Thanks for explaining. Kids are growing up so fast. Stay warm
Must be frustrating for you , to have delays with the roof timber. But on the other hand your getting other bits done. The boys seem.very happy to be hanging with dad and using their chainsaws to give a hand .
Variety is the spice of life. Love that you broke it up a bit today instead of showing us an entire vlog of you timelapsed shoveling, digging, cutting or hammering. Keep mixing it up for us. Those boys of yours are so precious!
Love that you don’t have more songs on the videos … honestly I love the real sounds … even the sped up sound makes it more interesting, in my opinion!
Love seeing the process play out ❤
My goodness, two new handsome blokes to help! And they have the right equipment for the job!
My husband had become very interested in your progress Dan. You have so many people applauding everything you are doing.
Wow, you are a wonder!!! Dad used to say, "Rich or poor, one can only go one shovel at a time." Your progress is still super speedy..unbelievable...You, Nick and Cameron...wow,wow,wow!!!
Good to see 1 more floor getting put in, and I FINALLY GOT MY ORNAMENT! 🎄🎅👏👏👏
Oh Dan does it feel like you have hundreds of mothers out there clucking over you? So many people care about you and most have never met you. A testimony to the quality of your vblogs. All the best one foot in front of the other one job at a time and you will get there. ❤
Amen! LOL!
Yep you said it. Lots of us moms/grandmothers even!
An don't forget great grand mothers😂
Lol 🎉
Absolutely, I watch him, sometimes with the fear of a mother, when he’s swinging from the rafters three floors up.
Dan you are a CHAMPION, please don't exhaust yourself 😊 p.s the boys had fun , with the little mens gardening/ feling tools, you're such a great Dad 😊
Here in Denmark we use tar paper, whenever wood is situated on stone, to prevent mold and rot in the wood.
My brother is a contractor in the US. Some of the materials he uses I question. OSB is not meant for exterior use. If he doesn't put the tar paper on and shingle that right away, one rain and the lamination will weaken. If more water hits it, it will turn to mush, just like his sub floor. He would have been better off using 3/8" plywood. Now he has to tear out all of that OSB he used for temporary flooring. 3/8 ply would have been covered with 1/2-5/8 ply once the building is weather proof. The savings in time and labor makes using ply cheaper, than what appears to be a cheap option. I see a lot of things done that if he framed with my brother would save him time. Like building those walls for the attic. You frame it on the floor, then tilt the whole thing up at once instead of putting it up board by board. It also enables nailing into the end of the timber. Toe nailing those in isn't sturdy and splits the wood. It also pulls out easily with the force of the wind and can cause twisting.
Dan uses bitumen spray, liquid tar paper.
I@@VangoghsDoggoI expected him to use mode screws there too
In the US they are Masters at building with Wood, though when the wind comes , your house falls over, hear in Croatia we only us real stone, oak beams & concrete on top of the beams, you are not authorised to us wood for the staircase & brick for internal walls, brick also for first layer of the outer walls with a layer of installation before the real stone facade has been completed & then they stand for 100's of years, this is a Istria stone house, if you build cheap, cheap is what you end up with!!!!!
@@VangoghsDoggoWonderful Wild Off Grid, Erin and her hubby, use osb, too. And it's been getting wet for quite some time. They say it's ok, those osb boards can handle that moisture. 🤷
Dan, it’s so good to see the boys… They are absolutely adorable with their little matching Skil saw’s! It’s really wonderful to see them interact with you and it’s so important for little boys to have their daddies to show them how to be men one day. God bless you and your family Dan!
Such a beautiful building , it’s going to look stunning with a roof , best rebuild on you tube
That’s a little boys dream … diggers and machine and saws it’s wonderful … so nice to see the boys again
Nice to see the littleones helping Dan ,following in Uncle Mick and Dads footsteps 😊. The boys are growing up quickly theyve changed so much . ❤❤
😊Loved seeing the boys again..especially helping daddy!! So cute!
Step by step your getting there Dan. The boys are growing up fast. ❤
So great seeing the boys learning ♥️ 0:39
Your darling boys, Dan, too sweet! From watching them as babies to now. It is so fun to see them growing up.
It was lovely to see Jack and Thomas helping at the chateau ❤
Glad they have added this floor structure. Thats adds to the stability and safety of the structure. Super important! Success and keep safe...
Children with power tools, so so cute. He must be having the time of his life. HAPPY 😂❤😂
A good start to Australia Day 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺. So much being achieved.
Happy Australia Day friend.
Happy Australia 🇦🇺 Day, Mate!
Cheers! 🍻
Yes indeed HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY to us. Glad that we are still able to celebrate it. Our spineless leaders not making a stance to protect our National day. From sunny Melbourne
Happy Australian day 🎉
Happy Australia
The boys were so cute with their little chain saws.
Dan, your young "lumberjacks" are not only adorable but also serious about helping. It was heartwarming to watch you and Nick working with them and taking them seriously. This truly builds children's self esteem. So good to watch yet another floor going in and the prep for cladding the roof.
Big Dan that's so cool that the boys get help dad ,they'll remember all the great times they had work with you on this amazing project, we'll see ya tomorrow!!
Nice to see your boys involved. They can learn so much hanging with their Dad and watching. Looked like the weather cooperated too! ❤️
Health and safety bods will suffering apoplexy watching this. Cute little boy - a chip off the old block? I'm glad it's warmed up. Blue skies literally and metaphorically. Keep up the good work.
Nick is the real winner in the "Chateau-verse". Thanks to LaLande and Dan he has got himself a never-ending source of work and the money to buy lots of new tools too (without the hassle of having to make/edit RUclips videos!). Pleased for him, he's a good bloke by the looks of things.
He also worked hard....he wasn't keen to appear on Stephanie video at first but slowly didn't mind it....he said he will learn to edit and open a channel but we r still waiting.
@@skdoremi6666 absolutely he works hard... Everyone can see that.
You’re a sight for sore eyes! Thank you for posting!

YES to more explanations like this! Like the lime powder in the pocket holes.
I thought when it all crashed down that Dan had finally bit the dust. Glad to see I was wrong and everything is OK.
if that was the case you wouldnt be seeing this video.
Are you sure about that?
My heart stopped when he jumped down onto the scaffolding holding the beam. He takes too many unnecessary chances. He's gone beyond 9 lives by now.
Hi Dan I have a French brother who lives not far from the château. He’s worked in hospitality and has a real knack for French cooking culture and he’s a wine connoisseur. If you think you could use a person like that whose a local, reach out. Awesome job. I see you as the poster child for your work ethic, upbeat personality and just true grit!
Hello 👋🏻 from Southern California 🌴....Dan, you are showing your boys how hard work, is always worth the effort, towards a happy ending. I always get a smile when I see your vlog has come out! The weather turned out nice for you today. Look forward as always to your vlog....Be safe....
Hey, Dan! My ornament arrived today! From France to Texas! Bravo!😊❤❤
Just love you teaching the boys' skills through play. It's so very, very important ❤🎉😊
Hammering out those smaller jobs not that they are any less difficult. Dan you are making great strides... Love the boys and their chainsaws and protective masks 🥰💖👍
How frustrating the wait for wood must be getting. They keep promising ... but not delivering on the promise. Glad you found a second option in case they fall through yet again .. Great to see more floor going in! 🎉
Good evening from the state of Michigan from the Upper Peninsula. We have a Peninsula between 2 lakes Huron and .Michigan. I live on the west end by lake Superior! You have made so much progress in 15 months. I know you are proud. I am happy for you. Your two border collies I love them! I have one of my own. I would love to visit the Chateau one day. It's just so beautiful! Love everyone's work. Very good! Hi Dan, Nick and Cameron and the cute boys! ❤
Hello fellow Michigander!
I'm also from Michigan but as far from you as possible. I'm in the furthest southeast part of Michigan, just north of Toledo.
I spent 2 weeks on the UP this past August, had a great time hiking, fishing and checking out the towns in the area. We were at my sister IL’s place on a small lake right in the center of the UP, equal dist between the lakes. Great country up there, enjoyed the wildlife and the pasties!
🙂hello, I was watching your weather.
Go Lions
It was lovely to see the boys and how cute was it when they helped Daddy cut the trees. ❤
Also made a change to see the sun out rather than seeing Dan working in the rain, snow etc 😂😂
See ya tomorra
Dan, great to see you put in those beams. Tomorrow more flooring. More and more accomplished everyday.
Of course Jack P. And Thomas were an adorable pair with their power tools. 😍
Cheers
Those boys are so cute. They are going to have the best memories growing up around all your creativity!
Still a hard, driven, man - Dan. And I still see progessive workmanship, a likeness to your environment and a perpetual love for being. Best wishes to you both.
Brilliant vlog today Dan. Entertaining, interesting, educational. Great camera angles. So much happening. Love your work!
Good timing. Hi Dan, Nick and Cameron and your dogs too.
Good progress Dan and looking forward to seeing the open space get smaller as you add the outer boards, see you tomorrow 😇
Dan, your boys are precious 💖. Every time we see them ,they are just so stinking cute. Thank you for sharing them with us. And please 🙏 can we have another drone video of the grounds. I love those the area is beautiful.
Beauty mid winters day!!. Appreciate your explainations on what you're upto, all makes sense to this unskilled viewer.
26th Jan. here, so Happy Australia Day to those Aussies watching/reading. 🇦🇺🎉🎉🎉
So fun watching your progress from Sunny Southern California. I completely restored an old Movie Theatre here and I am loving your momentous task. You're gonna make it and it's going to be absolutely fabulous. Thanks Dan and company...

So nice to see Thomas & Jack P. The beard trim looks great Dan! Sunshine in the background (finally) ☀️❤🏰⚜️🇫🇷🇨🇦
Impressive understanding and ability of how to live off You Tube.
The local DIY and hire stores must now welcome you.Well done.
It's a small town...and he did restored a house before this chateau....it was his house and was a regular to those stores before even reaching 100k sub.
Happy to see the Boys! Dan, keep up the wonderful job! It’s going to be so grand!
the kids bit was A BLAAAAAST!!!!! 🎊🎉✨🎏
Nothing matters but the boys! Oh, so cute. Boys, this is your future 😂❤😊
I don't know how many times Ive posted this, but if you aren't going to put on the roof the next day, that OSB will get wet, and turn to a wet dishcloth. You really need to use a different type of wood for the roof.... and by the looks of it, you really need a construction stairway at least to the second floor, even if its temporary. You say its rough getting this wood up there, but you are only doing the framing and wood for 1/3 of the roof. You got a lot more to go, and it would be significantly easier if you put up a temp construction staircase.
Ive been looking at getting some of the roof on my house replaced here in the UK and all they use to replace old sarking is osb. He should probably install roofing felt over it at the same time, that will keep it dry for long enough.
LOL.
Love the kids chainsaws. Super cute.
Things are getting done, probably not how you wanted, Dan, but they are getting done. Progress every day!❤
I guess one day the children will realise how much hard work and inspirational their dad was whilst renovating the chateau.
Adorable seeing the boys help dad!
This Massachusetts girl is loving that Boston shirt ❤️
a palfinger crane with a board lift mounted on a lorry, for sheet rock, hoisting them to a window would make your life alot easier. that is what we used to do in Germany. you can probably get the builders merchant to get the osb from the main handler with one of these rigs. used to move 200 or 300 a day like that with 4 geordy lads lol
The kids are adorable
God Bless
Lots of hugs 🐶🐶
Love the way you make use of every minute moving the renovation forward! Love the kids 2 and 4 footed!
Huurraaahh Dan! You're back 🙋🏻♀️ At last ! though Steph's stunning Vienna vlogs have been riveting I nearly didn't miss you ( 😜 well, it took the edge off 😊)
Exciting Dan!
The roof is going to make such a difference to the appearance. 🏯
Loved seeing the boys chopping down trees made me laugh when he said woops 😂 keep up the greatvwork Dan
Good progress Dan, great to see the boys helping. 👍
The boys are great tree cutters!!! 👏👏👏
Well done ❤️your little fellows are so sweet. Three cheers to the parents , check out Nick enjoying having them ride with him
You have a such a great lot of people following your journey. Love the comments, so positive. I’m sitting in my car in a little country town in Australia waiting for the local post office to open. What else would I be doing to pass the time…. watching Dan and the team ❤
Boys look happy and healthy... Great job Dad❣️
Wow, just noticed there are 420K subscribers, way to go, Dan, kicking ass!!!
So nice to see the boys again. They’re so cute. I love their equipment.
Georgous wee boys. More progress Dan. One day at a time.
Interesting seeing how other countries do things - in Aussie, our 'tongue and groove' the tongue is made of a sturdy plastic so the sheets aren't as fragile
Great to see the kids again! Love the Stihl toys, just like uncle Nick's 😀
Dan , thanks for sharing the joy of your children with your project ! GB
У вас растут настоящие мужчины 👍👍👍👍👍
To all the new watchers, go back to the start of the videos and check it all out from the start. WELL worth the time. :)
