  • Lance Wolf (Concept Artist, Illustrator) presents a time-lapse video documenting the 7 months it took to build the scratchbuilt SPACE SHIP ASSAULT CRUISER - SCYTHE. This shows the process from its earliest layout sketches, fabrication of parts, to the finished model completion.
The video includes artwork from the Director's Guide for this production model that is seen in "Magnesium Bow".
This 1/350 scale model is fabricated through the processes of scratch building and kitbashing.
The model is primarily made from cardboard and mat board, various model parts and broken down toy parts.
The model / production prop measures 36-1/2” wide, 38-1/2”long and 18” tall.
Visit my channel Ironwolfproductions1 to see the finished model please go to SPACE SHIP ASSAULT CRUISER - SCYTHE. An In-Depth Look.

This is seriously impressive (the planning and construction) and the fact that you recorded the whole process through 7 months is equally astonishing. To be honest, I was expecting a different color scheme, something a bit darker to go with the menacing look, but I understand that could rob some detail away and it ended up looking brilliant anyway. Was a pleasure accompanying the whole project through the video. Thank you for sharing and I will keep an eye on your channel!

Thank you for your comment, yes I totally agree with you. The video had become too long to show the model finished the way I wanted it to. It would have added too much to the length of the video and I was pushing it right up to the edge and it was already too large and I was barely able to fit the credits in.
I am working on a video showing a proper in depth look at the finished model and doing some green screen for the opening of the video which is taking a lot longer to produce but it will be the next video going up as soon as I'm done. Thanks again and stay tuned.

Ironwolfproductions1 there's no way the video became too long to show the finished model. it's kind of the most important shot

Wow, I can't believe I sat here and watched all of this. What an amazing build. I love seeing how you Frankenstein'ed pieces together to make this and how everything fit into place. It looked awesome after it was painted. Amazing work. This makes me want to build my ships from my books, of course I never will, but I does gives me that spark of inspiration. :) I also loved all the fly-bys of people who came in to watch you make this amazing ship.

Also the decals design and everything else that went into the model, Thanks again and stay tuned.

This is incredible. It’s so so uplifting to see that people still poses the craft to create masterpieces like this worthy of any blockbuster (if it weren’t for CGI). Kit-bashing is such a creative craft! Sometimes I rewatch older tv shows and movies just for the special effects beautiful models. This one is incredible. If someone ever makes a film with classic special effects (which I would definitely see) they need to get in touch with you mate because that is one stela piece!

I noticed how he used cardboard as the base of the shape. I've never seen that approach before. But, it makes sense as a means of creating your own design. As opposed to what I mostly see, which is someone using the base shape of an existing model to build on top of. This is inspirational to say the least.

    • @Ironwolf_Productions
      @Ironwolf_Productions  4 года назад

Thank you for your comment. I use double thickcardboard from the art store because it is light weight and inexpensive. Working from a profile of the design with cardboard you can achieve any design you wish.

I love how the hipsters here that have never even tried scratchbuilding/kitbashing anything are nitpicing your use of "scratchbuilt".
Like they don't know EXACTLY what you mean by it.
Your ship is cool AF. I'd hate to come across that in space.
And the choice in music is great. :{J
