Stunning looking car! If I were to buy one it'd be exactly like the one in this video. Love the paintwork and the interior combination. Looks like a mix of Maserati, Jaguar and Porsche. Also the name is brilliant!! Stinger GTS 😍
It's designed and tuned by Peter Schreyer and Albert Biermann in Frankfurt. Buying 2nd hand at the 12-18 month point when depreciation has taken a toll and getting the warranty top-up looks a good bet for the private motorist. Hopefully ECU can be flashed for another 50whp
...thanks Jay... watching this one again...as a Yank born in Northampton, and as a proud Stinger owner, thanks for everything you do...still enjoying the journey...
I really like the looks of this car, both on paper and visually. Between this and Hyundai's entry into the hot hatch world with the i30n, these Korean companies are really starting to make a name for themselves beyond the cheap, reliable transport moniker. And you really have to root for the underdogs here. Like you, I'd never even really considered a Korean car until about 15 years ago when I decided I wanted something that would do better in the snow than my Mustang. I read up on the reviews, and wound up with a Hyundai Santa Fe...absolutely brilliant car! Fully spec'd out with heated leather, AWD, a 3.5 liter V6, and even a 6-disc changer in the dash it still cost well under what a 4 cylinder CRV or Jeep would have run me, and it ran flawlessly right up until about 10 years & 90,000 miles into my ownership. There are still things I miss about that car even after trading it in for a C300 that's almost a decade younger.
I must say this video show your improvement in how to make comment and the video shooting is noticeably better than a lot of your other video. Keep up the good job ! I enjoyed this one.
This latest vid is a nice evolution, James. Consistently informative and engaging reviews that rival the high priced spread. Just as do Lotus, it's amazing what you manage with the resources at your command.
I have a ceed GT and if im honest its excellent value for money compared to other manufacturers, fully loaded too!! Really really underestimated and overlooked cars because its a “kia” tell that to the bigger brands when im pulling away on corners and straights... people get very upset when that happens lol
Cometh the hour, cometh the shirt‼️ This is proof that one shirt can redefine a man. Gone are the serviceable but anonymous shirts of yesteryear. Here we have the stylish, power packed, performance orientated shirt for the novi hominem. See it and tremble‼️🤩🤩🤩
Awesome you managed to get hold of one of these for a drive. Fantastic looking car - both inside and out! The seats even look like Audi seats from a few years back. Even better that it drives well. Whilst we're on the subject of new interesting Korean cars I'd love to know what your opinion is of the new Hyundai i30N as well - is it as good as the motoring press make out?!
I don't think the overall cost will be the permitting factor in Kia selling these in the UK. Unfortunately it'll be more down to whether Kia will be able to offer competitive PCP deals, which is seemingly unlikely given people's obsession with brands regardless of how good the product is.
I actually see quite a few of these around Sevenoaks. (A dystopic place for conspicuous displays of wealth: Bentley, McLaren, even RR don't turn my head when I'm walking to work, past the Ferrari garage, every morning). These turn my head.
Cheers, I used to do more of that but analytics tells me not enough people watch them. I may consider doing it as separate videos for future cars of interest
Good video thanks. These, more than anything, will be a spectacular used bargain...who wants a 5 years old Kia that does 27 mpg which is probably more like 25? this will be on my list in 5 years..only shame for me is lack of manual
wollywotsit exactly, the Germans will be out of warranty and, on average, sitting at 60-70k miles...this is when a lot of problems start to surface, especially with BMW
Really happy for Kia with this move they made. Its great value for money and honestly from the outside, when you cover the badges, people will say they think its BMW, Audi or Toyota Mark X or Toyota Crown Athlete. But some flaws that Mat Watson mentioned in his carwow video particularly bug me - shouldn't have covered the 5 bolts per wheel by fake centre-locks, fake bonnet vents and also the flex on the centre console (if you happen to intentionally wobble the centre console every time you drive one, that is). Do you remember the roads you took for the shots at 7:45 , 11:00 , 12:00 and 12:07 ? Thank you.
How do we get peak torque at 1300 rpm on a gasoline engine? Want. I totally agree this is a better buy than a lot of established luxury sedans. People think brands matter, and I don’t understand those people. I thought the Straight Pipes found an exhaust growl in sport plus mode or option? Might be worth a check.
Nice insert of library shots, did Kia supply those? Intro much better and the whole video had more polish....have you been checking out living life fast for intro ideas? Seems you liked the car, I am itching to try one myself..,
You just keep upping the ante on the shirt front. I'm not a fan of the looks of this, but their styling is certainly coming on quickly. The smaller hatchback is better looking than the equivalent Golf/A3.
They are, I keep a close eye on what videos get watched to try and inform future content - as well listening to feedback of course. I guess it is inevitable when you get to a certain size of channel that you have people subscribing for different reasons
JayEmm on Cars Thanks Mate, Just come across your channel while searching for MG videos, so catching up with your back catalog! Great channel and thanks for the reply!
the never-ending muzak loop was ... distracting (change of tempo around 7:30 didn't help much). Kia car is good. Vid is pretty professional. If only I didn't have the desire to stick a letter opener in my ears (it's pretty redundant of late)
+JayEmm on Cars I appreciate that finding music that matches and doesn't cost an arm and a leg is difficult. I like music too! The constant repetition of a couple of bars became distracting quite quickly so I'd just address that and make it very low in the mix. The beginning of the video - both video and audio - was pretty outstanding: I honestly thought you'd spliced in some Kia promotional video. You have the chops! If you're at all musically inclined, or know someone who is, Apple Garageband is pretty good these days for creating loops, fairly automatically thanks to creeping AI everywhere! You don't need to be Brian Eno either.
I do know a few music types from my Uni days I will ask around. The opening was made up of footage from KIA and myself, the edit and transitions etc all done by me
if you ever watch Kai Wong's channel (photography plus some wicked humor), he has some pretty groovy muzak and provides links or at least names at the end. One of the ones he uses is Birocratic (IIRC. Maybe Birocritic. Biro-something. Anyway, check him out if you haven't already.)
The one thing that bothers me with this car is that i feel like it became cool to hate on german cars but when a foreign brand develops a car with alot of "german car DNA" (Alber Bierman and Schreyer) it somehow gets love all over the place... (Of course i like the car but it kinda lacks KIA personality for my taste ! )
yes Kia have came a long way! but for £46k id go with the new Audi rs3 saloon with a wicked 5 cylinder quatro noise and 400bhp AWD thinking of swopping my m4 comp pack for one
spec is good on standard rs3 though"" its only when you go silly on the tick boxes lol my m4 is 75k list and audi have offer me 44k part ex on rs3 my car is 2017 car and only 2600 on clock really try and rob you at these german garages
I’m thinking about selling my Honda S2000 (fun drive) and Honda Jazz (daily drive) to get a Stinger (fun + daily drive). Please tell me I’m not mad and that I’m not going to live the rest of my life in regret.
Blergh. The music. Made me want to take knitting needles to my ears. Like being on hold. So very, very glad you dropped this. Excellent review otherwise.
@@JayEmmOnCars Yeah, it's one of the things that makes me instantly turn off a video when I'm trying out a new channel. Music's so subjective that I'd have thought a majority of people are likely to dislike whatever is used.
The high CO2 output of the old tech V6 kills this car in my country.. Because of the high tax, it's close to 100K Euro, which of course nobody is gonna pay for a Kia..
In the Netherlands a BMW 440i is 67K euro base, Mercedes CLA45 is 58K euro base.. KIA Stinger V6 GT baseprice is 99K Euro, all because of CO2 based BPM tax on new cars which is a staggering 50K euro on the Stinger GT.. To compare, a BMW 440i rates at 154 g/km CO2 emissions, the Kia Stinger V6 GT does 244 g/km.. This obviously also shows in the mpg figures..
It's still just a kia. I'm sorry, but brand means something, and the kia brand's image is worthless to me. I know it's wrong for me to say that, but that's just how I feel.

Good car. Sadly for Kia, they're targeting the 'Wanker' market... (ie..sleazy fuckfaces called Rupert who talk like powerpoint presentations) who won't be tempted away from their Beemers and Mercs towards an 'uncool' brand like Kia. It's hard enough to get them into Jaguars and Volvos.
This may be the case in the UK but there are a lot of markets (eg Asia) where a KIA would be the default choice over a BMW etc... I think its great to have the choice
I will not watch this video, and I don;t know what limited success Hyundai-Kia has in Europe ( they do better with their cheaper-ass models in the poorest of the Euro nations) but this model will NOT make or break the Koreans, it is just not as important, it is a NICHE vehicle. That Sante Fe seems very popular in the US
A shirt mad enough to compliment the Stinger's crazy design! Nice

Very nice video production work, the music and camera shots were first class. This car looks fantastic.

Nice car, but it's over £30k. Think I'd rather spend that amount of money on a better brand!!
That's what a lot of people are going to say but in truth 40k does not get what it used to

JayEmm on Cars I think deprecation will be a big factor. Will make a good secondhand purchase in a couple of years when it's below £20k.
Great intro! Could have been a Carfection intro
Thanks. It's amazing what can be achieved with more time and resources!
Great review, watching in this lockdown, even 2yrs ago your reviews were spot on and can't see any room for improvement :)
Thankyou. Always room for improvement though!
What a brilliant video, great quality and superbly presented. The alarming 28mpg is nowhere near as alarming as the shirt on your back though 😀!

When you test new cars - could you do a walk around at some point? I have no idea what this car looks like from the rear
I used to do this and may consider doing it again as a second video, it's one of the things that got lost trying to keep the runtime down
You do show some following snippets and it looks like it has dual twin-pipes. Looked pretty cool
i believe prior when i "built" a v6 online that AWD was sadly standard. building a 2020 and it shows the 3.3 as RWD and the all wheel a $2.2k option.
Love my KIA GT1 AWD.
That's a very jazzy shirt
Thankyou
I am getting a Stinger GT1. Living in sunny, snow free AZ, would you recommend RWD or AWD? (nice review)
RWD
