i dont know if that frame is strong enough for impact but for me that frame is good only for roadbiking and for aesthetics 😊
I wonder if they make a bike and then cut out the tube lengths to get all those lugs. Personally i would be making a more traditional bamboo bike with fiber wrapped joints. I suppose this is a bit easier to do and still could have some the damped ride quality benefits. Nice vid!
yeah this is like the beginner kit haha. I definitely will want to try the wrapping. The make a kit for that too. The difference is that you can make whatever geometry you want with that fiber wrapping which I think would be super interesting to try.
This is a bespoke lug, and we weld up the short lengths of the tube. The diameters are bigger than a conventional frame to accommodate the bamboo. We also make pre-fabricated lugs from Carbon and Flax. We've been building teaching using the "traditional" flax lug build method for the last 10 years and developed a pre-fabricated make the build more accessible.

I think this would be a little more clever if you didn’t have parts that were aluminum tubes welded together. I agree an entire bamboo bicycle would not be safe to ride, but a bicycle that could be built without expensive welding equipment is very desirable.
If you have look on our website we offer a quick build lugged or a more traditional build using flax to join the bamboo requiring no tools!
