    Wow, about five minutes ago I was sitting here listening to Frei.Wild and the thought hit me. I have this piece of clothing that I’d like to put some of that on. I was thinking through how to do it. Thanks for showing me. I really appreciate it! My mom was very patient with me because I really enjoyed Sewing when I was young, and I was constantly breaking her sewing machine:) she she just liked it that I enjoyed sewing and making my own things such as a pillow for my hamster hahaha. Now I’m just using a sewing with an awl it Does a really good either a heavier thread,
    or a heavier thread that is waxed I prefer the waxed because the knot stay's tied. Seems to hold together better but if I don't have wax thread I just put a little dab of superglue on The knot so stay tied but you’re making me wanna go and get a.

    • @paulhoughton4813
      @paulhoughton4813 3 месяца назад

      An awl woodwork well with what you’re doing because it’s a stronger thread and I like the waxed

    Good job. Sewing is a awesome skill that is often overlooked. The stitches you used were a straight stitch and Zig Zag stitch in case anybody would like to know. You did the right thing by starting and stopping you stitch in the middle of Molle I have found that secures it much better and the stitches are less likely to pull out.

    Nice stitching.
    We actually got taught sewing in school here! , including how to use a sewing machine in high school!,
    Hated it at the times, and thought it was a futile task, but I’ve completely changed my tune now! Luckily, its amazing how much of it came back to me when i first began modifying my kit.
    One thing I remembered was to pin your workpieces together before sewing - it gets a little more difficult with heavier material like webbing and canvas (it can pull on the material and warp if you’re not carefully) but if you use long enough pins it can turn out real nice. Frees up both my hands for control
    Anyways- great vid, thanks for sharing.

    Great Stuff brother . I have so many ideas that not knowing to sew have laid to waste . I got so anxious and wanted AK mag pouches that I could easily access and return the mag to with ease . That I made one so far as a proto type out of PVC . I used heavy rubber bands from bracelets with sayings on them etc for retention . it is 2 parts front and back . Used sewer pipe . I also made a shot gun scabbard out of green sewer pipe . Used heat gun on both . I sandwiched together the ends of a piece of pipe that I cut down the middle . Imagine a taco with the top sealed or riveted together . I then used leather I salvaged from furniture and for sling attachments . I used some heavy striker plates I found . I board a large enough hole on one end for the bolt to fit though and left the hole for the lock of the door to hook the sling on . I did this on top and bottom . I would have loved to molle it up . Although I used spry adhesive 3m brand and attached the leather I salvaged . It is tan as I used the BACK OF THE LEATHER OUT . It has great retention and the mossberg has been in it hanging up since . I am going to isolate myself to learn sewing . I can never seem to have peace . Finishing anything with out interruption is impossible less I stay up all night the problem with that is the most important toll is not 100 % OUT MINDS . ..

      @@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel I know this is an older video you did haha, but how difficult would this be to do by hand? I've got the similar Type 81 (4 pouch) rigs, and it looks like I'll need to punch through the two canvas layers, as well as the nylon for the molle loops. Debating if I can get by without purchasing a sewing machine.

    I know this is an old video. Thank you for putting it together. Kudos for burning & hemming the ends of your webbing. My comment here is about the straight, zig-zag, & locking stitches.
    A straight stitch will be the tighter of the 2 stitches and the zig-zag stitch will allow for more movement of the materials without breaking the thread.
    At 10:40, you discuss the stitching of your "surplus Molle". I found a video that explains why they start & stop in the middle. It has to do with your "locking stitches". I made a 2-pt sling from a set of old backpack shoulder straps. I found it difficult to do the box stitching for the QD hardware ... especially trying to do the "locking stitch" when starting my stitches at the edge of the webbing. It makes total sense to start in the middle so that you have plenty of meat work with as well as a 1/2" locking stitch.
    Rain Noe @ Core 77 explains the Box Stitch for putting webbing together and touches on the Locking Stitch. Check it out ...

    7:15 I thought the zig zag stitches are not necessarily stronger than the simple line stitch, but are good for elastic materials since they can stretch some.
    Usually if I want strength, I go over the same place twice or thrice with the straight stitch. If it is very thick, not over the same place, but just next to it.
    I didn't know the trick to stop in the middle though! That's handy to know.

    • @cerenademe9433
      @cerenademe9433 2 года назад

      Zig zag stitching is is used for strength and reinforcement when it's done very narrow and a very short stitch length. It's the reason it's used on buttonholes, which is a high stress point, instead of just stitching back and forth straight stitching.

    I meant to say everyone I have met . I am going to get on learning the sewing machine . Just after I get these led back up lights finished . If the wife will leave me alone that is . I really want to make a light weight low pro plate carrier . If I had only known how bulky and hot the condor carrier is with all the molle on it . After of course I bought the carrier . I learned of the battle belt . I got gen 2 condor battle belt . I added shoulder straps from an older 80's load bearing system I deconstructed for parts . As it held 556 in it's weirdly placed mag pouches . So with the ability to have gear on the belt and if needed a chest rig . This is why I figure Plate protection is something if needed one would want to be as tolerable as possible . So 86 the heavier - bulkier carrier.

    Thanks, bro. I've been wanting to add MOLLE to stuff and had the same idea as you about using a lighter to keep it neat. What if I went to a junkyard and got permission to slice the seat belts on junk cars they were gonna crush anyway? Would that be strong enough? What if you made 1 and 1/4" loops? Most MOLLE straps are 1", so that would work, right? What if you wanted to make the original, single mag pouches into double AK 30's pouches? How would you go about sewing them on so they don't interfere with your pistol belt? Thanks
