    These electric dethatchers work great. I have the Greenworks for the last 3 years and just did my lawn reno last week. Machine was buried in my shed so did my 1800 sg ft lawn with the Groundskeeper II hand rake in 2 directions. Lot of work but worked out well. Next year I will keep the Greenworks closer to the front of shed lol :)

      Lol that’s a lot of work by hand I thought pushing a manual reel mower on 10,000 sq ft was bad 😂. Yeah I do like the sun joe this thing really does a great job! I just took the lawn down from 2” to 1”. So much thicker than last year, I scalped it in a few areas. It’s not used to it yet!

      @@DIYDad1 What is your desired HOC going forward and will you be looking into getting a reel mower in the future. Gas or electric that is ??

      Striperman oh I would looooove to get a powered reel mower at some point...if the wife lets me that is 😁. Need to get a new snow blower this year first we’ll see what things are looking like next year. I really liked my back yard when I was trying 1/2 inch it was just a tiny bit too low but there was no in-between height setting with the wheels removed lol. 1” is as low as the earthwise will go. I think anywhere between about 3/4 and 1.25 is the sweet spot for my lawn. But it can definitely use some leveling to make it a nicer experience. Very bumpy and uneven in a few areas. Honestly the kbg looks fantastic at 1.5” great color but I want to go lower. Just have to train the grass a bit so it gets used to it I think. We’ll see how she does going into fall I’ve been spoon feeding fert all year and I’m going to be hitting it a little heavier here in the next 8 weeks.

      @@DIYDad1 Sounds like a plan. I just got the Liberty 43 and it works well. Battery lasts just long enough to do my lawn with multiple passes. I agree with the HOC at 3/4 - 1.25 as the sweet spot. I got mine down to .5 with the manual reel mower in the beginning of the season and did well until mid July. It went all down hill from there. Work getting busy and less time on the lawn and record temps did it in. That is why I just did my reno. Will probably keep at .75 rest of season and also spoon feed to keep thick and green through Fall.

      I swear it always seems to make a huge difference. It’s almost like, when you beat up your lawn and make it hurt, it always comes back healthier and thicker in the end after it recovers. Must be from making room for all the new growth.

    Love the video can I use starter fertilizer with this seeds also wht a good time to seed

    • @DIYDad1
      @DIYDad1  2 года назад

      Starter fertilizer is just fine to use at the time of seeding or I like to wait a couple of weeks for the grass seed to germinate first before I put down starter fertilizer that way the fertilizer doesn't go to waste sitting in the ground when the grass isn't growing. A grass seed has all the nutrients it needs to start life and just water soil and sun will get it going. Depends on where you're located you can start to seed grass now. Around here in the Midwest I like to start in early to mid August for Kentucky bluegrass since it takes longer to come up but rye grass and fescue will come up much quicker and you can seed as late as late September and have it established well enough before winter comes and frost sets in and growth stops.

    Just got my soil test back and my phosphorus is high. Gonna be seeding in the fall so wondering with my phosphorus high if I need to use a starter fert with phosphorus in it or not

    • @DIYDad1
      @DIYDad1  3 года назад

      I don’t think it’s entirely necessary. It helps with root development but I’ve had success with seeding even without using a starter fertilizer for what it’s worth. A starter fert just makes the phos more quickly available to the baby grass but to be honest I skipped putting down fertilizer right when the seed went down because I didn’t want to push growth to the existing grass so I would wait a couple weeks til after you put seed down if you’re just going to do an overseed into an existing lawn. That tiny little seed has everything the grass needs for the first few weeks of its life. Just give it soil and plenty of water and it will take off in no time. Hope that helps!

      Glad you find my videos useful that’s what they’re here for! I just did a video on weed control last week actually! ruclips.net/video/bZiRgh0l-VI/видео.html
      The main ingredient you need to look for is Quinclorac. The product I used in the video has a small amount in it for general broad-spectrum weed control and some other ingredients to also target broad leaf weeds as well, I also like the Spectracide brand, it’s cheaper than the ortho brand name and has the exact same ingredients you can find that on the shelf at Home Depot. Keep in mind these brands have several different kinds available so make sure you get the weed killer that is safe for use in lawns and has quinclorac in it that’s the chemical that targets crab grass. www.homedepot.com/p/Spectracide-Weed-Stop-32-oz-Concentrate-Plus-Crabgrass-Killer-HG-96393-1/205755590

    • @DIYDad1
      @DIYDad1  3 года назад

      If you just need to kill crab grass and not any other weeds you can get quinclorac by itself here. Just a word of caution this is only safe for northern cool season lawns like Kentucky bluegrass, fescue, and ryegrass. If you have a southern lawn like Saint Augustine then the only crab grass control that works is a pre-emergent. Here’s a link to some generic quinclorac Primesource Quinclorac 1.5 Select (Drive XLR8) Liquid Crabgrass Killer 7.5 Ounces www.amazon.com/dp/B07KYVGH9V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_X1JEH16WWS5B4XPZY7WS
