Opening Pool for The Season - Test And Balance Pool Water
The SRM 225 is definitely underrated. I have one and it’s a monster for what it is. People often buy these and use them as commercial units.
@@UhBuddy1976 this thing also sat in my ex's garage for about 2 years with a tank full of gas, and fired right up after about 3 pulls. Ripped as good as ever. It really is a tank. Thanks for watching!
I just want to say I admire you for your due diligence on maintaining your air compressure. But this is like an ls engine It will run forever with garbage in it I found mine on the side of the road full of water
@@Joseph_Headen oh wow that's quite a testiment to harbor freight and how much crap people want to give them, that's great to hear and actually after changing over to synthetic this once I haven't changed it since I did this video it's still solid as ever lol. Thanks for watching!
Guess I'm lucky, hadn't done anything to the oil in 2 years. I couldn't see oil in it, so I put some in still can't see it through the window. Put way over filled, oil shoot every where through the fill cap. I could see a drain plug, and was going to drain out the fill hole. Thanks for the video, learned yet another thing today at 73.
@@DonaldMang sounds like it was already full lol, probably cloudy oil or something probably good to change it the synthetic has been filled in mine now for about 2 years since I changed it and it's been good so far. Just don't want too much moisture to get into it. Glad you found this video useful thanks for watching and commenting!
Your rake looks like the typical made in Mexico model. I bought a True-Temper bow rake some 40 years ago, & recently broke the handle under the metal ferrule, which was chrome plated steel. I looked at just buying a new rake, but the quality of the original head was so much better than what I have seen available in the stores today. Something to be said about "Made in the USA".
I've had that same compressor for probably ten years. It has served me well for basic homeowner needs.
@@brassteeth3355 awesome! Glad to hear it's got some longevity for you! Only thing is I wish it ran a little quieter lol the new ones from Harbor freight are much quieter. Thanks for commenting and watching!
Walk backwards, why drag your shoes and pant legs through the sprayed area?
@@spiffyrarepilot5584 straighter lines that way I guess. It's what I do. I wear rubber boots now when I do it so I have dedicated boots for spraying. And I change clothes when I'm done. Just preference I guess. I think walking backwards is fine too the only time I do that is if I spray herbicide or grass killer and I don't want to contaminate surrounding areas. Appreciate the feedback thanks for watching!
that sink is disgusting :)
@@investing2000 hah, yeah when we got this house it was very neglected in a lot of areas, so much room for improvement, doesn't help the old lady used it to dump paint in and didn't clean it up 🤣.
Although I don’t have an Echo, gas powered is far more efficient if you’re a homeowner with some land. Stihl Komb system owner here. Great video!! 👍
@@USAFVET1998 I definitely agree with that! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Please get a clue. That rotating nozzle will remove paint, and can create a hole in wood, metal, or concrete. You should never use it anywhere on you car.

How has it lasted, especially for out in your lawn? Thanks
@@troymcdonald I still have it a few years later and I'm still using it regularly. The Petra sprayer had held up incredibly well, of course I always make sure I rinse everything out with water and don't let anything else sit in it for too long that really helps keep it working well I think. Thanks for watching!
@@DIYDad1 thanks. Looks like I’m gonna grab this one. With a bad back, hope this helps. Also was wondering how ya empty the long hose when it has herbicide in it…?
@@troymcdonald so it has a drain plug on the bottom and if you have anything leftover what I do is dump some water in to flush it out and then just run the pump sprayer for about a minute or so just to flush anything out of the hose and you can just spray it directly into a bucket to capture anything you don't want to use.
@@DIYDad1thanks for all the answers. I guess it’s that I think 100ft hose would store a lot of herbicide/fertilizer to just flush out with water, wasting money. (I do like that I can empty out the bottom opening), but wondering about that hose… hmmm. I mean if there is no way to get it out of the hose besides flushing with water, then it is what it is. Am I missing something?
@@troymcdonald it's actually a lot less than you would think inside the hose being such a small diameter hose only 1/4 inch inside diameter, the whole 100 feet of hose holds less than a half a gallon, I don't know the exact amount but you're right that is a minor downside of having a fixed unit like this instead of something with say a 3 foot hand wand.
Excellent presentation! Very useful information! Thank you!
@@sunnyday1639 glad you found this useful thanks for watching!
Great idea..
Same color and style i ordered 👍
First of course
I need the sleeve. I can find them anywhere. I'm to cheap to buy a whole new tool and just want to get my project finished
I feel like I've watched hundreds of reel mower videos at this point and they all show how to remove the front wheels and none of them (!!!!!) show how to remove or tighten the back wheels. Does anybody know??
Well the business end of the cutting happens on the front wheels and those come off for adjustment and sharpening so thats a common practice. If I remember correctly I took the rear wheels off as well to get down a half inch lower for mowing and it was a pretty simple process, it's just a single nut that you have to loosen up on the outside, I can't remember off hand but you might have to clamp the opposite end nut in place if they are tied together through the axle. Find a wrench or socket that fits that nut and you can simply tighten it up, it just slips onto a sleeve. Hope that helps!
I bought a Petra Mini Fogger to try before I purchased a larger model. I did the set-up according to the instructions. First time using it the fogger worked for about 10 min. before only putting out air only. Tried many times to get it to work like advertised but it only got worse. Now it doesn't work at all ... not even turning on. The contact Iv had with the company stated that someone would contact me soon. BUT STILL NOTHING. Don't waste your money with Petra Tools. I lost $100 on the purchase I made.
You left out how to sharpen it!
ah that's an entirely dedicated video here! ruclips.net/video/FTfjhQAxqmU/видео.htmlsi=McfJaPgfpKEZQ3RR
my pump no where that stong
Great, but my pool doesn’t have pins
that probably makes it even easier then, there's a lot of different variations to these pool frames from different manufacturers. Thanks for watching!
@@DIYDad1 I finally read the instructions and found out I do the horizontal supports first, then add the vertical supports. No wonder my wife always wants me to read the instructions.
Hey man I have the same mower I’ve done all this and belt and everything is fine trust me I’m no rookie I’ve been fixing mowers a while now still no drive???
Sadly for me this mower met its demise and the oil pan gasket sprung a leak one day and all the oil was just gone and overheated and seized it up. It worked for a little while but yeah I had a hard time with the drive as well, I think it wasn't the belt tension or anything from what I researched on this model it's the gearbox that has issues as they get older, there's some sprockets that lock up and cause it to not go forward or go forward very slowly and in some cases the wheels actually lock up completely. Seems like a design flaw with these where the transmission needs to be torn apart and rebuilt, not worth it at that point.
Just spent 30mins with toothbrush 😂
I have made a little table that makes the filter just high than the water line so when you want to change the filter I pop it up on the table and you don't lose any water. Then just put back on floor and open the air release.
@@stephencane6653 yep that works great! I have been just resting the pump housing on the top rail of the pool frame and it all works the same. Quick and easy. Except them you have to balance it on top of there lol. Thanks for watching!
Is there a break-in period for brand new units? Or just fire it up and let 'er rip? Couldn't find anything in the manual
Not really, fill it up, make sure to use the proper gas:oil mix ratio, I'd let it idle a bit and warm up first before revving it up fully, once its warmed up have at it!
@@DIYDad1 ran it today for the first time and I'm really liking this machine! I'm guessing it has some type of autofeed for the string, because I ran it about about 30 minutes and only had to bump the head once or twice. I absolutely do need to put a strap on this thing though.
@@bullfrogpondshop3179 nope no auto feed head unless that's a totally new feature but if you've never ran anything thicker than 0.065 or 0.080 line you'd think the thicker 0.095 this thing comes pre spoiled with will last forever 😂 and it definitely feels like that when you're going at it half throttle or less. Glad you liked it, they do get heavy after an extended use. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching and commenting!
My shop vac 6.5HP iis industrial and has a lot of power, the hose works but it makes an annoying whistling noise, any tricks to get rid of that?
Clever! I just bought one second hand, and was told it worked good, but there's no pusher inside. 🤨 Didn't notice till I got home. Not happy, but I guess I can fix it this way. Thanks!
@@CactusGal glad this video was helpful! Thanks for watching!
I have been doing this. It actually works
Would this fit my SHOP-VAC 14 Gallon 6.5 HP vacuum cleaner, 2-1/2 inlet diameter on the nozzle?
@@arielalexandermontilla9780 it should fit with the included adapter. Ridgid also makes a shop vac with a 2.5" inlet.
@@DIYDad1 My shop vac 6.5HP iis industrial and has a lot of power, the hose works but it makes an annoying whistling noise, any tricks to get rid of that?
@@arielalexandermontilla9780 oh that's interesting I haven't had that happen, my guess is there's something that's causing that sound to resonate maybe like a filter or something that might be partially clogged or something, some turbulent air stream making the sound, hard to diagnose, different attachments on the end make any difference to the sound?
@@DIYDad1 Yes, it's just the Ridgid hose kit, safe because it's thinner than the one the vacuum cleaner originally produces.
@@arielalexandermontilla9780 yeah my guess is that it just has more restriction because it's a smaller diameter hose, also the longer the hose you get the less airflow you get at the nozzle end as well just by the way physics works with how much air can physically move through.
Just bought one as a replacement to my 20-something year old Stihl. It's going to take a little mental gear-changing to get used to the trimmer head turning in the opposite direction. But so far, I really like it! I think it's the perfect balance of cost where you get a good machine without having to overspend. And don't you just HATE those "smart" gas cans like you're using?
@@1funcar those gas cans suck 🤣. Ended up replacing it with an old style regular ol pour spout with a breather hole drilled in the other side. It's like it was indended lol.
Just saw a video on Instagram where he chucked his drill on the shaft, I liked that idea!
@@tribalwind yep done that before lol same deal there but wanted to show this with common hand tools in case someone doesn't have a drill. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I have a speed feed head on my new echo trimmer. I am trying to reload the string, but I can't turn the head so that the arrows line up with the holes.. Do you have any ideas as to what may be happening? Thanks.
@@mnoble0902 grab the rear part of the head where it connects to the shaft to hold it in place so that part doesn't rotate then rotate the outside shell part to the right and it should turn. If it doesn't turn there might be some grass or dirt jammed up in there. There's a couple of plastic tabs on opposite sides of the top of the head you can squeeze those and the head will pop off to disassemble, try to clean that out blow it out with some air and remove any debris. Reassemble it and see if it turns. Hope this helps, good luck!
@@DIYDad1 Thank you for your response. I took the head apart and looked for any debris. It was completely clear and the head still won't turn. I've seen lots of videos, including yours, and it doesn't seem like it should be this difficult. Perhaps mine is defective?
@@mnoble0902 hard to say but it's possible there might be something wrong. It might be really stiff at first, not sure if there's something you can use to grip it for more leverage or something maybe it just needs a good extra oomph to get it mowing lol not sure besides that, could just be the thing is seized up or bad.
@@DIYDad1 Thank you. I'll see if I can find something to grip it with. It's frustrating because the trimmer (PAS-225) is new. While using it yesterday, something happened to the head and the string stopped coming out.
@@mnoble0902 it definitely sounds like you might have a bad head on there sometimes stuff like that gets past qc, it's a shame because that's such a nice trimmer to begin with but it happens from time to time it should be under warranty if it's new yet luckily. Try revving it up about half throttle and give the ehad a few good hits on concrete or stone or something see if you can get the line to advance it should come out when you bump the head on the ground if it doesn't feed it's probably not working properly
Use the sharbite depth gauge instead of guessing my 2 cents -- around 11:50 onwards
I actually do t turn off my pump and open it while it’s running and no water spills out at all. You can also flip those hats over and push it in the hole in.
Nice looking trimmer, but I'll be staying with my Echo srm225. Milwaukee makes great power tools but IMHO battery doesn't come close to gas equipment. Battery equipment is ridiculously expensive!! I've tried a battery blower and absolutely hated it. I'll never give up my Echo gas trimmer and blower. Nice review tho. Glad to see you posting.
@@garyalensr echo ftw I absolutely love my srm225 nothing comes close. This is great for smaller jobs as I mentioned, just quick trims. If you're going full power on the higher speed setting I burned through an 8 ah battery in like 12 minutes. Respectable for battery but if you're not going absolutely ham on the trimmer at full power it lasts a while. Still can't touch gas for a quick fill up and keep on goin though. I just inherited one of these from my father in law's garage... he's been gone for 10 years now and its been put away. Thanks for the tips!
Glad you found this video useful!
Or you know, you could buy a new one?
Do you think 2 of these would do well on weed control of 12 acres of land?
That's a heck of a lot of land to clear lol honestly though, throw a brush cutter head on one of them for the thicker stuff and keep the string line head on the other one for the lighter grass. Echo makes a few models with larger displacement engines as well, more for commercial use and heavy duty use. The srm225 here is 21.2 cc engine. Something like a 2620 will have a 25.4cc engine and give you more torque for tougher jobs they cost almost twice as much as this one though.
So like, what if youre colorblind...?
lol sorry can't help ya there :P :D tough to see even if you're NOT colorblind lol.
@@DIYDad1 thanks for replying. Luckily my wife can see colors and we figured it out haha
A little late to the party. Got a backpack sprayer and will be switching from granules to liquid.
I just love the versatility of liquids and the ability to mix multiple products together to get different results. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I love this idea! I'm getting my first pool finally 🙌soon. Do you put a cover under it too? Or just the mats? I wonder how many I would need for a 16x48 pool. I looked at them on Tracker Supply but they are expensive 😮
You can just throw a simple tarp under it to keep it clean if you're going to be taking it down every fall before winter but if you clear the area properly first there's really no need.
Does it work with fleas ?
I don't think it's labeled for fleas specifically but you can check the domyown website search for flea control from their website. They might have a specialized product.
So what if you dont use solution? Just keep the 2nd dial to min? Or is there a bypass?
Correct, just set all the way to min setting, it just turns up or down the level of suction from the siphon tube that's all it does really. And if the solution tank is completely empty it's just going to suck in a tiny bit of air, no big deal at all.
For those building a more recent model that doesn’t have any “screws” to push in at the top, I found that removing three legs and pushing the connecting arms straight downward (not out) until they meet works. Took us an hour to figure it out and we were pissed when it just slipped in.
Lol isn't that something you're scratching your head forever then light bulb and you figure it out. 🤣 Yep been there many times. Thanks for sharing your experiences with the other models, thanks for watching and commenting!
I hate that Ridgid can't figure out how to make the attachments work with different hose diameters.
Just that you need an adapter to make it fit unfortunately, it's just not as clean of a setup.
