Great video. I always wonder why pros keep hitting those easy shots and dont go for hard shots that challenge opponents 😅😅

For me, I understood the video as 'playing' a middle shot than 'block'ing a middle shot (as in defense). The whole time I was waiting for some player blocking an attack shot towards the middle of his court. The title of the video was very confusing to me.

Finally a video that explains this type of shot, I've always been wondering why pros do this and kinda figured it was for rebalancing and saving stamina. Thanks for the explanation!

It is for the same reason the service is often play in a similar direction.
You take out options from your opponent while offering you more time to recover and also makes the court smaller.

Now days you can also see this on MD when backcourt player not sure if the smash will get the point, they'er just play half smash shot into the middle and wait for right opportunity

The main issue with middle block that it only allows you to stabilize when your opponent does not know how to capitalize on this shot. Try to find some good attacking players respond to those like Ginting and Lin Dan. For me this is the current issue with the pro scene after Lin Dan getting old and retire, MS became boring to watch in 95%+ of the cases.
Opponents that are same level as me or close too me never do it after a few tries because if they do so they will get destabilized even more and when they don't they could easily play a much better shot if I'm THAT late on this middle block.

The shots labelled as "block middle" around 1:06 are usually not referred to as "block"; rather they are "long net" shots.
A block is typically a shot where the racquet is placed in the path of a fast moving shuttle from a smash or a drive, and there is not much racquet movement. The power of a "block" shot is mostly from "blocking" the incoming shot.
In contrast, a "long net" shot is typically a shot played from the service line closest to the net. It is a net shot because it is relatively close to the net and is not fast but it is different from a "tight net" shot or a "spinning net" shot because it is played from further back in the court by service line and not very close to the net.

It's really just a net shot to the middle of the court that doesn't spin
