    Few things I thought u were going to mention, in 4:43 where u are finding a tamborine sound, the browser shows that wave icon with the line next to the sound, that's the similarity search feature which would go through your whole sound library and find sounds that sounds similar. That works for basically any sound but I use it for finding similar sounding drum hits etc. Also ableton improved their midi so there are generators, strums and many more things that weren't mentioned. Also the Warp modes is a category in itself that's super powerful.

    Ive always bounced between the two for the last 8-10 years. I love the ease of mixing in Ableton and sample chopping but i find my mixes dont sound as full in Ableton compared to FL. FL seems to have alot more punch and i can dirty up my music alot easier than in Ableton. Playing my music live in Ableton is so much easier and i have alot less lag than FL. At the end of the day it just depends on what you are creating,but its good to switch between daws to keep your creativity at a high.

    These are mostly good points. When I tried Ableton I found the interface too busy and it showing too much, and in FL i like that I can customize the toolbar and make any arrangement of the windows or mixer style I want to fit a laptop screen. Another big advantage I found was the left-click add and right-click delete in the playlist and piano roll in FL. I just feel like I'm clicking all day the way other DAWs do it.

Theres so many that just help so much

      @KavanDignam ctrl t for a new audio track, ctrl shift t for new midi track is so helpful, without them I was so stuck first day of ableton
      highlighting an area on the playlist then hitting ctrl M will make a midi clip of the highlighted area, better than double clicking on the playlist and dragging out the clip to the length u want
      hitting 0 will mute/deactivate a channel or a single clip or even a note in a clip depending on which you've selected
      Ctrl spacebar plays from the last play marker you set which can be helpful while u tryna do surgery on a certain small section, when u have to repeat it over and over just spam ctrl spacebar lol
      there's a lot more that I can't remember off the top of my head I'm not at my laptop rn but yea, I'm so glad I chose ableton over fl I was so close to getting fl but I switched up last minute lol

    There’s a soft clipper in the glue compressor device. It’s not the same sound as FL but it gets the job done for mixes. Ableton is also adding their own autotune in the coming months. It’s currently in beta.

    • @beatsandstuff
      @beatsandstuff 6 месяцев назад

      Nah, I've used Ableton since 7 and, while practical and low cpu, 3rd party vsts do the job way better for clipping and glueing. Want to glue like a pro? Get an SSL Bus compressor and read its manual. Want a good clipper? Go with STD Clipper or Kazrog KClip 3 - the later being better imo.

    • @cytocache1238
      @cytocache1238 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@beatsandstuff well ofc. The stock plugins are made to be as easy for the program to use as possible, so adding latency from trying to replicate analog modeling or saturation from clipping is not the MO. Many 3rd party vsts will sound much better than what’s offered in the stock library: kazrog actually has a free clipper and analog obsession has their own version of an ssl quad bus compressor. I encourage those to look for free/paid plugins that work well for what they’re worth if you’re serious about pushing a mix or production further. However, when it comes to fast, in line workflow, there are at least options available in the plugin library, that’s all.

    • @beatsandstuff

    What you mean by "auto quantize" is really time stretching the clip to the bpm of your project. Sometimes Ableton calculates the bpm incorrectly and you still have to edit the tempo in the clip editing. Quantizing audio clips is when Ableton detects transients in the audio clip and based on groove you choose (either quantize, swing, etc.) it fixes it in time.
    Also in FL Studio there is an option to turn audio files into midi files, you just gotta look a little closer hehe.
    But yeah, I've been using FL Studio for over 12 years and then got to Ableton and almost cried when I realized the workflow is like 999 times quicker.
    Cool video none of the less.

All you have to do is just highlight the channels you want to add to the bus and then right click on the designated mixer channel you wish to send them to.

    Hi, I'm not telling your didn't have great points. But it seems like you don't know that if in FL you click on the audio clip and select adjust to bpm it automatically quantizes it. Or that you just have to touch a knob in a 3rd party plugin and then click last tweeked> create automatization and BOOM you have your automatization clip created in 3 seconds. I think the only real advantages of Ableton vs FL among the ones that you said is the browser and maybe the one about the busses

    FL bus channel: it's recommended to pick some random channel mixer, and choose to dock to the right, then choose the mixer that was routed from the channel, and then click on the down arrow under that knob. If you want sidechain, right click on that arrow and choose to sidechain. I mean yeah, it was to simulate how people routed the mixer irl, but bruh, this is Digital Audio Workstation, don't force everyone to do that tedious stuffs that other DAW don't have to.
    Ableton bus channel: just right click on the empty channel and choose "insert return track", and all midi/audio track have already routed to that.
    To add some extra, FL has stem separation, and that crap does better job at removing vocal than RX imo. Though turn an audio to midi is rather convoluted (kinda). You have to open Edison from the sample menu on the top left, that section called "edit sample", then choose "dump into piano roll" (or some sort) to convert them to midi.

    My verdict is... If you just want to make beats and a beginner then FL studio is the go. No need to switch but if you want to do serious production, singer/songwriter shit, do sessions, gear compatibility basically the lines of pop, country, edm etc then other daws such as logic, Cubase, studio one and Ableton are better off for you. Not that the above can't be done in FL but for work flow and in the long run they are better as you develop your carrier. If your a sound design nerd then currently my go to will be bitwig and Ableton. Mixing and mastering then pro tools, logic, reaper for its cpu efficiency, and luna would be my picks . Bottom line all draws are capable and basically do the same thing some better than others in different cases and this is coming from a long time Ableton user and have tried different daws or engaged with other producers using different daws. Chose what works best for your purpose.with compromises of course
