You have no idea how difficult this game is even on the easiest difficulty the monstsrs do so much more damage than rick. Not to mention to get the good ending you have to save both Jennifer and david which is difficult. So before you judge someone put your money where your mouth is an show us up. Even i struggle with this game
For those of you wondering this game is harder than you think. There's actually a bit of RNG in the game that isn't directly shown. Sometimes a boss will be easy other times it will be a huge pain.
American devs making the games harder for no reason. This version also has a shorter time limit to finish each level, was just checking and the Japanese version gives you 8 minutes for the second level and 10 for the third while the USA version gives you 6 and 7 respectively.
It depends on if you know how to transform, hurricane kick, and special attack consistently. If you know how to do that, it's super easy, if you don't know how to do those over and over again its super hard.

Oh, my, I was a fan of this: had created a map with all the treasures [hearts, powers, books], and all the doors to find the best strategy. Firstly I had a japanese version, and I didn't even know there was such a super kick in US. So, when I possessed US version, and played it - I discovered that a level can be skipped in 1 level... I was so amazed, and so impressed! But no matter how hard I tried the next levels I could not repeat the result. Only when the emulators became available I could do this. It was a game I like to play after watching 'Evil dead' series having a couple of beer cans =)
Wow how repulsive of the creature feasting on the corpses in the area at 7:57 a more updated reimagined version of that creature in today's modern graphics would make it more terrifying than he seemed back in that generation. Way more creepier than the zombie encounter in Resident Evil one devouring the dead soldier. I mean all of dismembered corpses as he is having his buffet terrifyingly disgusting 😩
I was really young, mom rented me a game to play while she was gone. I played it in the dark, this was back in 1994. I was terrified and remember shaking while playing it!
Us 90s kids had it the best. No bs social media to worry about. No BS influencers telling us how to act and what to think. We looked up to athletes, went outside and when we were done, we went over to each other's house and played video games. I loved it. I still love playing video games. Peace man
I like to think the mask granted Rick the powers, and then there was just a soul inside the mask telling him what to do (the soul of the mask takes over the evil ones body but Rick still has his powers)
No it wasn’t. Actually splatter house os form 1988 and the Mask was released on 1993-1994. Maybe this splatter house 3 was after the Mask. But the original is much older.

Tbh this game is way more difficult than it appears, its mostly cause the monsters are stronger than rick which adds the horror and challenge to it. But in general you did good , even i struggle with it you should try the openbor versions of this game
I wish someone would make Splatterhouse 4 like they did with Streets of Rage. Make it a bloody cell shaded side scrolling beat'em up with different level pathways, power ups, weapons, all kinds of monsters, DLCs with different characters. I would soooooo buy something like that. Okay, I would still torrent it but I would seed!!! HA!!! 😊
you're half right, it is doing the same thing over and over but the enemies get more difficult, the bosses are determined in rng so you could get all bosses hard, or easy, and also there's different scenes for Jennifer and David, like the bore worm

i used to have nightmares because of the headless enemies 😂 but other than that this game brings me a lot of memories as a kid
