I made the mistake of watching at 2x speed and he was like a deranged maniac.
1x speed definitely calmed things down.

RUclips remembers if you watch it at 2x speed. I watch almost all videos like that, so when I clicked this one it was 2x already.@@bensmith7536

Why always repeat the task? He clearly always understood it the first time.

HI! Is very usual in a wine service to do double-checks to avoid any situation what can ruin the experience of the customer. Is not for annoy, greetings! (and sorry my poor english haha)

I've never watched a sommelier competition before, and the setting seems quite contrived compared to the barista competitions I've seen online. It feels overly staged, as if participants are expected to follow a script rather than showcasing their genuine expertise. Instead of faking the role of a good host, why not let the sommelier demonstrate their craft and share their knowledge directly with the audience? This would be more authentic and respectful to their expertise.

It’s an art form for a reason. People don’t compare Picasso to kindergarten

A major dofference is that in barrista competitions the competitors serve the judges their drinks. So its partly their skill in producing great drinks and partly how innovative they are, as well as their motivations for their choices.
With wine-tasting there is an established convention in how to present a wine. Also, many of the tasks like 'guess the origin' or 'correct the meny' have a correct answer.
Then of course the vibe berween someliers in suits and barristas in sneakers are completley different.
