Im pretty sure noctis is in some sort of trance while he sleeps since him sleeping and dreaming has been a recurring thing in this game. also i think he is forced to rest alot because ignis says hes just doing just job when prompto mentions him sleeping. he needs the most rest he can get because he is the only heir to a throne that saps his vitality. so he has to make sure he gets enough rest and health while he can.

oh god in context Iggy probably didn't mean to make Prompto to feel so bad, like he probably felt guilty like he'd lose his friends if he gained weight!
@@shonascott367 Prompto lost weight because he felt like he would be making a fool of himself talking to such a high-up Prince like Noctis while looking like he did. But I think you're right regardless - Ignis didn't say it to be a jerk, he said it because Prompto worked for many years to achieve that body he has and Ignis doesn't want him to destroy the result over masses of food being available.
@@shyanmarie4405 Actually, I don't think Ignis knew of his weight when he was younger. I think Ignis' remark was just cautionary overall and Prompto took it harder because he knows where he came from. I think tree closest Prompto ever gets to mentioning his past self, aside from his DLC, is with Noctis on the roof of that hotel. They never outright mention his weight, but Noctis does say he would've preferred for Prompto to just speak with him, no matter what he looked like.
Actually, in thinking about the DLC, I think Prompto actively worked hard not to tell them about his weight. He mentions something about being afraid of losing his friends and so he strove hard to do everything he could to keep Noctis, Ignis and Gladio by his side. He mentions this in a flashback in the DLC as he has a sort of dream sequence with his younger self, I think.

On the bright side, it also makes Noct and Prompto's chat at the motel much sweeter when Noct mentions that he thinks they should have been friends from the start instead of Prompto waiting until highschool. He would have accepted Prompto for who he is chub or no chub.

I like how Prompto progressively became more sociable and happier as he lost weight in a healthy way. Prompto lost weight; not in order for Noctis to accept him as a friend, but to become someone with the confidence to stand beside the Prince. There's no "fat-shaming" happening here that forces Prompto to change his identity per-se; exercising, eating healthy and losing weight was merely a mechanism to break away from his shell. And now he's Noctis' beacon of light; cheerful and outgoing .
Also, it has been scientifically-proven many times that being fat is UNHEALTHY.

Prompto actually did somethi g smart while exercising; he managed to wean himself off of his previous diet.
It may seem small, but he first cut out the excess sugar, starch, and sodium (soda and fries) then he graduated to eating a full serving of vegetables and then rewarding himself with a burger afterwards.
It may seem insignifigant but it's better to slowly transition your dietary intake as you exercise rather than go cold turkey cause believe me it makes you feel terrible to just eat healthy when your main diet was fast food the previous day.

after a month you become acclimated tho. and by that point, you don’t even order the excess crap because you know it will make you feel like crap, puts a limit on your calorie intake for the day, and also means you have to work a little harder for a day or two just to keep on schedule. I use to eat a full meal and an extra side or small entree. . . now adding sides makes me full to the point I want to throw up because my body is no longer use to eating all those calories and garbage at once. sugar is the hardest to cut, though, only because it’s in almost everything nowadays, even some bottled water lol.
Or just go cold turkey. With that attitude you have you can ever do it.
@@REDEEMERWOLF Well yeah, some people can do it cold turkey if they really can't control themselves. The problem I usually refer to is when people who want to lose weight but arent in any major risk of diabetes or heart failure.
For most people going cold turkey won't just make them sick, it will make it that much harder to maintain a diet if they give up the first time round. Your body has a weird relationship with dopamine and depriving your body of so much of what it got as stimulus will actually make you physically ill. The closest you could get to this is withdrawals.
Most extreme diets right after eating unhealthy for an extended period of time don't result into vomiting, shivers, and craving that make you feel like you're stomach is splitting open. Just as a word of advice for those who struggled with or plan on changing their dietary intake.
It's just a way to make things easier.
Plus a lot of people that go with hard strict diets gain all the weight back and possibly more when they decide to stop.
The idea of doing a diet you hate for the test of your life is pretty depressing lol…
Noctis wasn't even trying to bully him. helping someone up at that size when noctis is so small would be difficult. Love how he still recognized Prompto at the end like he truly never minded about the weight but pronto became a better/stronger person because of it.
Interesting how Prompto means fast in Latin and he was a chubby kid… now I'm almost sure that he's the fastest party member.

Well his full name, Prompto Argentum, is Quick Silver, which was the name of one of Vincent's guns in VII.
He also has Time magic with his bullets in Episode Duscae, able to cast stop on an enemy, and I think he should have access to haste too

The whole point of this episode was to show and explain Prompto's backstory. He use to be a Chubby kid but he was determined to change and look different so he could feel good and better about himself. This episode teaches you about self-awareness and self esteem and that if you work hard in life you can achieve happiness. Shoutouts to Square-Enix for this brilliant episode. This should be an inspiration to others out there who dealt with this issue when they were younger and grew up to be the person they wanted to be.

I totally agreed. Noctis doesn't seem to be the shallow type that judges someone base on weight, hence he holds out his hand. In this case, Prompto feels unworthy of being a prince's friend the way he is and takes the initiative and have the determination to change himself. I think it's heartwarming =).
I agree with what you said, and it sort of irritates me when people compare Noctis to Sasuke. Their look is (slightly) similar but they are very different characters. Noctis is a caring person who clearly wanted to be Prompto's friend here, and we see how people just swoon and dote over him. He isn't be stand-offish because he's a Sasuke clone, its because he's a freaking prince and has realized those people don't really care about who he is as a person and are pretty much just fake.

I'm sure Noctis will. But i like this storyline better. It's is less cliche. This really highlighted Prompto's growth as a person, his kindness, self-esteem, and determination.
I think it was just that someone who is so high was depending on him or something like that. It seems like he either lives alone or has absentee parents, leading him to have to get his own food and care for himself. Essentially not really having a support system himself.
If people say they hate Prompto, show them this episode, i changed my opinion from hating the guy to being one of the more developed characters i have seen in a Final Fantasy, like up there with Vivi and Barret.
I'm not quite understanding your comment, are you saying that Vivi isn't a deeply developed character, or that you don't think Prompto is as developed as Vivi?
lennethebeauty well in 9 i remember Vivi had to deal with his shortcoming of being a Black Mage, you know seeing others like him die, or the fact that wasn't going to live very long. He went from a cute naive dude to a team mate i ended up caring very much.

A lot of people are saying things like "Why did he lose weight before being friends".
As someone who was heavily overweight as a kid, then thinned up, only to get even more overweight again after high school, I can say that sometimes I DO feel like I would be a better friend when meeting new people if I'd lose weight first.
Socially, physically, and emotionally I feel like I would just be all around better as a person and that people ARE more accepting of people who aren't overweight.
Now translate this into Promto's universe and he's trying to be friends with the prince who is not only a strong public figure, but who is physically fit and draws the eyes of every girl who sees him. Stepping into his world, as an overweight kid, even IF Noctis DID accept him as a friend, it would burden him more than if Promto was in shape and wasn't weighed down by his weight.
It makes a lot of sense to me, so thought I might try to relay a little of how I interpreted it to those who may be confused :)
Bingo. It can be hard for some people to be empathetic, but it is necessary to understand how difficult it can be for others who are overweight or extremely introverted to overcome their insecurities.
Being fat is bad when everybody fat shaming you i want to do like prompto but everybody talks about my weight and they think it will help but it makes me feel not motivated and i dont want to lose weight anymore i know it is not health for me but i dont want them to think that because of their words i am losing weight.Cuz insulting someone fat shaming will not make them start losing weight I dont know what to do now. Savage Sangwoo the advice I would give you is don’t exercise to lose weight, exercise because you like a sport and enjoy it, it helped me lose weight a lot faster and I met lots of friends through sports clubs, who were accepting me even if I didn’t have the best body. Find a sport you enjoy, try several, for me it’s fencing and weightlifting, but for you it could be swimming or playing football/soccer. Also get a good coach with a licence who can give you tips on how to improve your overall condition. Best of luck!

@@popcornistorturedcorn His parents weren't really around. That alone is pretty messed up. They were neglecting him and forcing him to raise himself way too young. We know nothing about Ignis' parents but he has an uncle and Noctis, but Gladio had his sister and father, Noctis had his father and Ignis. The only one who had no one truly around was Prompto.
Never touched a Final Fantasy game in my life and I really enjoyed this.
I played the demo when it came out. First time I had played Final Fantasy. I can proudly say I will be picking up FFXV when it comes out this September.
This one is drastically different from all the other Final Fantasy games though. lol That's not necessarily a bad thing though, I'm a long time fan of the series, having played through 10 of the 12 titled games. (I'm not counting the MMOs...) Hopefully it'll interest you enough to at least check out the lore and stuff of the older games. (I know turn-based isn't everyone's cup of tea.)

It's also cool to see how by always greeting others while he was running, Prompto was able to build confidence not only to speak with Noctis, but also for himself! THATS AWESOME!

Another thing that was odd is how he said "For me?" when he received the letter, like he was surprised. If he was living alone, he would not be surprised that a letter in his mailbox was addressed to him. Or maybe he was just surprised that someone bothered to send him a letter?
Spoiler. Prompto is one of the magitech creatures created by Niflheim. His father was one of the lead generals, and sent Prompto to infilitrate Insomnia.

I think this demonstrates that good exercise can be a really healthy outlet for young men and can also help with mental health. Also can we give props to the random jogger who saw someone trying to actively make an improvement in their life and chose to say "keep it up". Simply stuff like that is the sort of thing people very often find with gym bros.

I love how when Noctis first interacted with Prompto he wasn’t dismissive of him and showed genuine concern to someone he barely knew when he fell, also that other guy who was running was awesome

Actually, that's incorrect. Many of the provinces, cities, and such in FF15 are based on many different real life places. Like the city in the Platinum Demo is based on Venice, Italy.

Look back on this now, it's kind of sad knowing that Prompto didn't get to meet Lunafreya in person. She unknowingly helped him to push himself to become someone he was proud and work up the courage to become friends with Noctis.
It would have been nice to see him show her the letter from all those years ago and thank him for being his chocobro.
Fat Promto's running music, should have been fat chocobo theme. ^_^ I am really liking the characters a lot for XV.
lol I think the only character I'm kinda finding it hard to find interesting is Noctis himself because he's just the typical brooding, "I don't care" kind of guy we've seen with other characters in this genre but who knows, maybe he'll get more interesting as you learn more about him.

Decadent Gamer I like Noctis a lot. I remember when it was FF Versus and it was supposed to be on PS3. When I first saw him I was like "oh god here we go, another dark, super serious, overly stoic character".. He is then later described as being very very shy, but tries to act "cool", in order to hide his shyness... So he is somewhat a dork.
He also seems very caring, and down to earth, and wanting friends, true friends, not people surrounding him who want to be around him because of his title. This is really shown with his behavior towards fat Prompto, when Prompto thinks he wants the camera instead of his hand. He also seems somewhat sheltered, but interested in learning, and not being a punk about it lol.
I really like all of the characters so far, and I love how they are treating this game, and why. This is so far becoming another favorite of mine in the series right up there with IV, *VI*, VII, X, and XII. Plus Yoko Shimomura doing the music? Oh my Jesus lol. So perfect for the look of this FF world.

It's just that after Cloud got overblown with popularity with his "I'm too cool for this" aura followed by other characters like Squall and Lightning and other various characters from other series, it really killed that appeal for me if that makes sense?
But yes, he doesn't seem all bad since he didn't care if Prompto was fat or not so that does count for something.
Ugh... I really didn't like XII lol It had such a boring atmosphere and the characters didn't interest me at all but this is just my own opinion of course.
Decadent Gamer Oh yes it makes a lot of sense. I don't like those type of characters anymore myself. When Cloud first came out, I thought he was cool. It somewhat kinda felt a bit of the same with Squall, then we see it again with Lightning.. Its been done to death now, I don't care to see that type of character anymore.
XII I liked because, I was kinda obsessed with XI at the time, and XII pulled me away from it lol. I also liked the music, and characters, Basch being my favorite, and the manga that came out before the game, most of all it was set in the world of Ivalice (which I wish XIV's world was set in).
I think the only character, I can tolerate the "I'm too cool for school" attitude from, is Cor Leonis. He seems so far, he is like that. If so it works because of his age, and his past and he uses a samurai sword so that's even more badass. He reminds me of some mean Yakuza boss.

I think the Black one ends up being Noctis' dog because in a few trailers we see him with a similar black dog.
Anne Beach I wonder if it's one of her 2 dogs and she sends the black dog to protect or guide him. Maybe she can't send Pryna (the whitish dog) cause she never recovered from it's leg injury as a puppy. Gotta wait 3 more months to see.
+Naomi I don't see why she would send Pryna to him at such a young age tho, seeing how there isn't even a hint of the kingdom being taken when they were young.

You gotta respect him. To have that much motivation to change his lifestyle. It takes a lot. He's a really great character. One of the best I have seen. Square really did an awesome job on him.

Prompto is a national treasure and needs to be protected. I thought this before and after seeing fat kid Prompto, I almost cried and think he needs to be protected even more. I'm barely even 4 minutes in and almost crying.
EDIT: 13 minutes in and after having seen how he turned his life around I'm tearing up like a bitch and emotionally folded like a fucking omelette. I LOVE YOU PROMPTO.

i honestly relate to this a lot because when I was at my lowest, fat, weak and a loner, I decided to change myself in hopes of being able to help others like me and forge meaningful relationships, I went on early morning runs everyday and dieted hard for a year plus and worked out while I was at it but not only that I trained how I viewed strangers too, I would force myself to say good morning and smile at people I pass by on my morning runs until finally now I am able to say that I am proud of myself, not just of my body but of my mind and most importantly of the relationships I have forged as a result of bettering myself

I'm over 400 lbs, and this inspired me and I got off my big butt and got outside. I didn't exactly run... it was something more along the lines of brisk walking while making breathing sounds like a dying walrus, but it's the first time I've done this in a long time, and now I'm really anxious to get my body back in shape like it used to be. i wasn't expecting this episode to be what it was, but I think it's great the back story Prompto has. Sorry, wanted to let you know that at least one person WAS inspired by this :)

I know the original game Noctis was burdened with responsibility of the people and worried more about the saftey of others than his own, which is why he was always so tired because he stretched him self thin working too much. I don't know if that;s changed or he just feels different because of that fate thing we saw in the newer trailers
The original director of the project Tetsuya Nomura stated that Noctis could be compared to Sora in a lot of the good-hearted traits and he often referred to Noctis as kind of the "little brother" to Sora despite his dark/emo appearance.
This 15 minute short film put more character development in a side character than lightning in three 70 hour jrpg's.
