Thank you so much Harris. I was stressing over what kind of things to get lighting wise, and I was going to post to you asking about it, but did a quick search and found this video. I had no idea what kind or how much lighting to buy. I will be getting a camera upgrade, but just from a very old 720p webcam to a 1080p. I can't thank you enough for your videos, they've been essential in me getting things in order and starting to head toward success.
Holy crap! I recently upgraded from a C920 to a C930e thinking it would make a huge improvement to my streams. You just nailed it with this video. Thanks! Now I'll have to use 2 cameras so I don't feel stupid lol
Use one for an intro cam. Have it angled at your stream set up, or your room, or something interesting for people to look at during your "starting Soon" scene.
Heya I tried to do the color correction and when I add the white balance the whole image goes white, I've checked the the settings and notice your Alpha channel is set to 0, mine is set to 255 and when i set it to 0 it defaults back to 255. Any advice would be great.
Having the background darker than the foreground is good advice if you have a spacious room. My wall is right behind me so the light in my face lights up the wall as well and the wall is white. I tend to blend a bit into the background with that setup.
I got an IKEA led reading light that clamps to my monitor arm and then wrapped it in baking paper to smooth the light out. Overall cost was around $10 and made a huge difference! And ofcourse a slight color correction helps a lot too! Lower a bit of the whites (especially with the c920 xD ) and just get some more colors in just makes it look so much better.
On the very last step when I add color to the camera it messes up. Instead of a slight tan there is a white filter covering everything. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
when i try to select a color, the video disappears and the entire screen just becomes the color that I've selected, sad to say i cant fix it any advise?
For some reason the first two hex values of my white balance are ff, whereas on yours it's 00. So whichever color I pick, it only changes the last six hex values, and it just overwhelms the image. If I restart from default settings, the color is actually #ffffffff which should be pure white, but the image looks normal.
I personally use the Logitech C922 and the BRIO. I have two studio lights with soft boxes point at the ceiling and three different Philips Hue Lights that can color can be changed through a command by anyone in the chat on my Twitch channel. Here is the thing, I am a photographer but personally, I know how to set up my video setting. Play around yours before expending the money on more expensive equipment. That is my advise. The last tip was perhaps the most logical one, but THE most important!
What drivers/software do you use for your Logitech webcam? Do you use the new Logi Capture app to send your camera to OBS? I tried it with my C920 but it seems like it adds latency and is a CPU hog. Previously I was using the old Logitech Webcam Software, but I think the drivers for that are not updated for Windows10 and it was causing me problems. So now I'm just using the Generic Windows Drivers for HD Pro Webcam 920. I guess I'm wondering if you are doing the same? And if not, what is the best way to go?
Sadly I must have a bug since when I choose a color to balance the alpha channel don't want to stay to 0 everytime it's blocked to 255 and I have a blank screen xD time to go on the OBS forum
For everyone who's been wondering, the product in the broken Amazon link for cheapest lighting option is LimoStudio 700W Photo Video Studio Soft Box Lighting Kit. About 40 bucks per unit now.
At 2:32 you switch to a camera behind you with an ariel view. I would like to do this for my stream but do not understand how i can without having some sort of wireless webcam/camera? Is that the only way? Because that view looks awesome
I am so late to the party with this video but I'm having 1 problem, when I try to change the colour like you did at the end, the whole video picture goes a whiteish colour.
i put in the exact settings (cos i use the same webcam) and the colour correction made the whole camera way to yellow even on all the same settings it was opaque the colour, why is this what setting am i missing? thanks
I'm using all of them bro! They are so dope it's unbelievable. You need more views brother. I told every single one of my friends about your channel. I really hope you get up there with the huge content creators. Remember me when you get there. I've been here for a while
this video is the 16th video he uploaded and his 1st videos were just random videos, and now he has over 100k subs. in this time period i've seen channels that aren't monetized yet.
I know this is an old video but how come you didn't just change the properties on the camera to disable white balance and adjust your skin tone from there?
I tried changing the color a bit on mind and it just makes the camera look like its painted its brightness. Even if I select color and don't change it just click okay it does it. Any ideas?
just tried the shoplight idea since I already have one, and DANG, works like a charm as a softbox. thanks for the idea. Also for the settings on the camera. the C922 Pro has never looked better.
btw I have a question, My dslr camera i just got for christmas keeps wanting to freeze during my stream and i don't know what to do. I have a rebel sL2. please help ?
The part where you change the color itself seems invalid now. When you change it, it just washes out the full image. Looks like an update to OBS changed it. Any advice on what can be done in lieu of this?
If you take the Brightness all the way down to -1.00 it should work with HTML color: fffbe5 or something close to there. Good luck and hope this helps.
For me when I do that white balance it basically, just turns everything too much orange... Like it fills the whole image, and it looks trashy. Sry for bad English, and its hard to explain my problem, sry. EDIT: You can say that the opacity is too high of some sort. Don't have a single clue on how to fix this problem...
Also, if you know anything about green screens and how I can get my edges around the subject (me) sharper instead of this blurry crap I have going on it would be appreciated. I did buy lighting that I will now tinker with thanks to this video, and that may help. If I don't get it figured out by myself, another one of these fantastic videos would be helpful. Preciate it.
To be more specific, im actually referring to video editing software (cyberlink power director). Xsplit already does a reasonably good job on its own. But... ya, you get the point.
great tips on lightening and video, I recently upgraded a few things so i can make better videos for my channel. the camera I use mostly is my laptop camera which isn't always the best. but those obs tips will help out a lot. thanks
Hey, I have a client who is looking to stream at a more professional level. However, he lives an hour from my studio. Would it be possible to control his broadcasting switchboard remotely?
Hey, would you suggest this setup the same if you had a green screen behind you? I have a elgato green screen, wondering how I should set up the lights?
Leave out the step "White Balance" (starting at 4:35) and you're good to go - i got the same problem with a cheaper logitech - The other adjustments work just fine.

turn brightness down?
At 3:51 I'm pretty sure that wasn't a webcam and he just named it as webcam. Because webcam doesn't support much color interaction
For some reason the first two hex values of my white balance are ff, whereas on yours it's 00. So whichever color I pick, it only changes the last six hex values, and it just overwhelms the image.
