Just use high temp rtv...literally seals the coil to the valve cover and lasts years if you need. When you want to remove them just spray on some rtv remover
This was just a way to keep it held down better so vibration wouldn't let it pop up. More of a spur of the moment idea that worked for a little while until replaced the valve covers
yep, probably why im getting a misfire. Never noticed it was loose until today so i tightened the bolt aaaaaand it snapped. But why was it loose before? i dunno.
The Irwin 394100 7 piece extractor set goes down to 3/16" , just below 6MM for small bolts . You can use it in a 1/4" drive socket . If there is anything to grab on . If you are drilling it out , try a left hand drill bit first . It may spin it out . Soak it with PB Blaster and hit the bolt with a punch to shock it before drilling .
There are a couple of ways: 1) get an extractor set, drill a hole in the middle of the bolt and use the easy out to remove it. 2) find a way to make a slit/notch in the center of the bolt and you can use a flat head screwdriver to turn it out.
How did you end up fixing it?! The bolt in cyl 1 and 2 are broken and I can't figure out how the f*ck to get it out. At a point where i'm about to change the whole valve cover!
Honestly, I changed them out entirely. I tried using an extractor but with the bolt being so small, there isn't enough room to drill a hole in the middle of it.
You have 2 options. Drilling a small hole in the center of the bolt and using an extractor to get it out or replacing the valve cover. It also depends on the material of the valve cover too. Drilling out a bolt on plastic ones doesn't work.
@@NoLagProductions_ChadThat seemed random. I'm having this problem after replacing my valve cover. It took a couple months to get to this and is aftermarket so is out of warranty. It's frustrating but thanks for your video.
Appreciate the video I just snapped a bolt and here u are, you're doing a great service sharing the knowledge thanks man!
You are very welcome. Glad I could help

Will this actually work to keep the coil pack from popping up from vibration? I broke the screw that holds the coil pack down 💀
It worked for my car for about 6 months
@@NoLagProductions_Chad the rtv sealant or the method you used in the video?
The way I did it in my car worked fine. If you can get a good bond between the coil and valve cover with RTV then that is a good option

That was a pretty awesome fix man. It probably would last too but I heard your were wanting to put a new cover on.
Surprisingly it lasted for a while until the new valve covers were install. The car has been sold for a long time now
I had an issue with the 10 mill screw holes stripping
5 years old and you knew it was Thursday today. 😂 But my Expedition has the same problem
If there is anything to grab sticking out , Irwin makes small bolt removers

Shit I tried this but now I got two broken coil bolts... 😥
It is Thursday 😮
I’m a psychic 😂
I broke the bolt for cylinder one I’m not sure how to fully replace it

is it causing your engine to misfire
There is a foam pad in between isolating the coil from the disc holding it down. It can't misfire through the brace.
Bruh it’s really Thursday
You do realize this was filmed a while ago on a different day? 🤷
Tap n re thread new hole
If the casting is broken, there’s no where to tap a new hole
Today really is Thursday 😭
Its really Thursday. Lol bro I broke my coil bolt also that holds it down idk how to take that tiny bolt out now :(((( help
Very small drill bit and an extractor.
@@NoLagProductions_Chad how do you put a new bolt in? I broke the bolt on cylinder one
@@NoLagProductions_Chad like a normal one so it’s exactly how it was

I'm in the same boat. 3 of 4 are snapped off and are flush to the head. How do you actually fix the problem tho?

What the hell? So I bought a trash valve cover?
Not sure what you mean by that 🤔
