    Hello. I am currently pursuing my masters in Global healthcare management in UK . But due to this corona virus outbreak, I wouldn’t be able to do my internship in any hospital or an organisation as they cannot offer opportunities for the professional experience. So i have got few options from my Uni , that i should either end-up with the 12 months course or I should comeback next September (2021) attaining a new visa for the internship. So could you please guide me which option is good and also if i try for the job without the internship, will there be any chances that i secure a job offer in UK or in any other countries like canada?

      Hi, sorry to hear about that. I am sure there are other students in a similar situation. No one really knows how long this will last. I don't really have much experience with regards to healthcare management myself, so I won't be able to advise you on this. I am sorry.

    Hi Dr. Lavanya... I am Dr. Sha.. i love your videos and your calming voice♥️... I have always had trouble choosing between usmle and plab.. how different is UK?
    Do u like the health care system in the UK?
    And the most important question is, I am an IMG and i would wish to pursue ophthalmology as my career..and i have publication in an international journal but that comes under Internal medicine.. how can i get into speciality training? Especially surgical ones...can u please please do a video ?..i would love to hear from u..♥️ thanks in advance!

      @lavnya70  4 года назад +1

      Hi, thank you. Yes, i do like working here. But I don't have any experience working in other countries. So i can't really compare. The pathway for ophthalmology in UK : After MBBS, internship and PLAB, apply for FY2 post in UK. After FY2 (1 year), apply for specialty training in opthalmology. The entry will be based on your CV/portfolio and interview performance. So do make sure you do audits, quality improvement projects, papers, posters, presentations, attend courses etc related to the specialty you want to pursue. This will show you commitement to the specialty.

    Hi, thank you very much!
    I’m so confused about the difference between acute medicine and emergency care like if a patient presents with stroke, a brain cyst,brain injury do they get admitted to emergency or Acute medical unit?

    • @lavnya70
      @lavnya70  3 года назад +1

      All patients initially presents to emergency departement (emergency medicine). They will be assessed by an EM doctor. If they need admission, they will be admitted under the respected specialty. All medical cases (chest infection, MI, Stroke, UTI, AKI, sepsis) will be admitted to the acute medical unit (acute medicine). All surgical cases- to the surgical unit. All paediatric cases- paediatric unit. Brain injury/trauma/brain cyst- normally gets admitted under neurosurgery.

    • @lehvak8567658
      @lehvak8567658 3 года назад

      Also depends on where you work in the UK, as well and the local setup. Some places like London have a 'Hyperacute Stroke Unit' model - if they present with FAST+ve, the ambulance service will bypass the local/nearest A+E and bring them to these stroke units and give the hospital a pre-alert (e.g. thrombolysis/thrombectomy call) and the neurologist will clerk these patients directly in resus, 24-hours. Similarly if the patient has ECG changes suggestive of a STEMI they may be brought directly to the coronary catheter lab for a PCI. And not all hospitals have PCIs so if the patient on assessment are found to have an ACS - they may get transferred to a hospital with a cath lab (and these often have a CCU/cardiac ICU on site as well). Similarly not every hospital has neurosurgery on site - usually will require a preliminary CT scan in A+E and if confirmed an intracranial neurosurgical pathology - will require a referral and transfer to the neurosurgical centre (usually a tertiary centre with a neuro ICU on site).

      Pathway for IMGs - After MBBS, internship and PLAB, apply for FY2 jobs in UK. After FY2 (1 year) , apply for specialty training in emergency medicine (7 years). During the 7 year training, you need to take the FRCEM. FRCEM has replaced the MRCEM.
