Another great Swedish band you should react to are the female fronted melodic vikingmetal band called Brothers of Metal. Their singer, Ylva Eriksson are a supertalented vocalist, and most of their songs are about vikingadventures, runes, norse mythology, Asabeliefs etc.
Check them out and you will be surprised how great they are, I recomend the song Kaunaz Dagaz.
It means "Dawn of Fire" translated from the Nordic Runes.
And yes, they sing in English 😉

What adds to the it is the "it could have been me" effect. Thirty years war lasted so long many women lost first their husband's and then sons to it, all drafted.
In a time without any other ways to communicate back home than letters - if you were in the war for decades, who even remembers you existed?

  • @reecedignan8365

While the song can be translated to almost any war and conflict in history fought by soldiers of any nation. This song is more specifically covering the 30 years war that ravaged at the heart of Europe.
30 years that saw some of the worst humanity could do to one another and in many ways also the beginning of the rise of the Swedish Empire - and also the rise of a particular Swedish King Gustavus Adolphus also known by the moniker The Lion of the North

    • @selonianth

Yep, the idea of the title "A lifetime of war" is that you could literally be born, grow up, and then die fighting in the war all during the period the war occurred in.

okey this might make no sense to you but the whole "livs tid i krig" thing you went for if you want the most corrrect pronounciation of the "i" You need to watchthe holy grail with monty python, or at least the scene of "The knights who say Ni!" The"i" there is probably the closest you get in the English language. However even that whould be wrong since it's to fast. So think Niiii. I hope that would help! id be happy to try and help out with stuff like thins over voice but that i s up to you ofcourse! Some other swedish person please help me out here, i really want to help him out!
