@@standinginthecrowd5220 Trudeau has broken the charter, stolen rights and freedoms, frozen bank accounts without warrants, and has spent billions of tax dollars on personal leisure. That is the DEFINITION of a tyrant. That is ONLY the kind of behavior you would see in places like Cuba, China, North Korea, etc. Just because its happening in a "white country" doesn't change that.

@@standinginthecrowd5220 Just because its not a despotic authortian government(yet) doesn't mean the snowball isn't rolling down that hill and picking up speed very quickly. The price of freedom was the blood of our grandfathers, and continuous vigilance. People like yourself who point to the situation being worse elsewhere and saying "see we're not that bad" are as dangerous as the politicians stifling free speech and labeling anyone who remotely disagrees with them as an extremist.

JBP said that part of the reason he left his position was the understanding that in the current intellectual climate that doesn't tolerate dissent from orthodoxy, and punished guilt by association, he understood that any students he took on would probably be blackballed from academia. In part he stated it was an ethical consideration that he didn't want to damage the career prospects of the bright students he might supervise.

If your country has descended to a point where you are thinking of leaving it, isn't that more reason to stay and fight ? In Canada our voices of sanity are all bailing out, leaving fewer to take up the slack. Not every Canadian is fortunate enough to be able to move to Florida, as a matter of fact, most aren't. Each loss of one of our prominent thinkers only serves to demoralize those left behind, like seeing your soldiers flee the battlefield. Gad Saad's comments remind me that the system of education based on four-year residential college simply isn't adequate for the needs of our society. Four-year residential colleges are extremely resource-intensive, and, because of that, they are too expensive to play the role of social equalizer which many people seem to attribute to college education. The four-year educational college originated as a means of preparing aristocrats for adulthood, and that history is one of the reasons these institutions are structurally too expensive, and are otherwise unsuited, to play the role of social equalizer. It would be more economically efficient to move from the current model, in which completion of a certified program of study identifies a person as sufficiently prepared to enter a certain social role, to a model in which passing a set of certified exams identifies a person as prepared. If the exams (as opposed to the program of study) are certified, there would not be a need to require those who sit for the exams to have completed expensive courses of study. There would, of course, be no reason to bar a person enrolled in a traditional four-year residential college from taking such exams, but a person engaged in self-study or enrolled in an uncertified program should have the same right to sit for the exams and, if the exams are passed, to be acknowledged as certified in a manner comparable to one who has completed a traditional four-year residential college program. Such a system would be more fair for intelligent people with limited access to resources, and most people would see that as a good way to achieve better social equality.

Not canadian but I have the same feeling, I'm just a bit older.
Learn a specific skill and start freelancing or a business that's completely online. Never quit until you make it work. Also watch Nomad Capitalist and/or similar channels.
There are ways out but you must make your own money.

I just hope the Canadians that come to the US leave their lefty Canadian politics at the border. They literally just voted JT back in power after he behaved like an authoritarian throughout the pandemic. Canada bought the ticket and now they get to take the ride. The US is currently on the Biden ride and it sucks.

Lefties are all in the big cities and big cities hold all the seats in parliament. Literally 2 provinces control the vote. Ontario & Quebec. Western Canada and the Maritimes have always been irrelevant. Rural Canadians like myself love freedom and conservatism.

So he can't leave cause he doesn't want to leave his tenurship. So basically financial security.
Yet he is boasting that he can reach hundreds of thousands of people via online channels.
I come to the conclusion that he doesn't make enough money from his online presence alone to leave a secured job that pays really well.
Welcome to the club of the average working individual. If he had the money, the resources, he would move. I would say stop bitching.

am i missing anything here? maybe i looked at the wrong numbers here (probably), but highest income bracket in quebec is 33%? that doesn' t seem a lot for a european liike me. your highest tax bracket is incredibly low tho, it seems like the middle class pays as much percentage as the highest class. but i guess thats the same everywhere.
