My short fills with non-binary, transgenders, feminist… so agree
Love the shiny color of his plumage. So beautiful. ❤❤❤
I've never seen the Black Heron. I've seen, Silver/Blues and Grey Herons/White plumage. How beautiful.
You missed a bit about the feet. Many heron species have bright coloured feet and they have them for a reason. Because they are bright coloured it helps them see anything that moves across the top of the feet. If something swims across the brightness of the foot and breaks the out line the heron see’s it instantly and strikes. Not all herons have this but there are a few that do.
Evolution is an incredible process.
I've seen this on snowy egrets, but had no idea that was the reason. Thanks for this bit of knowledge.
Stabbing their own feet is like biting our own cheeks.
@@mreese8764 eh? That statement seems unrelated to the subject being discussed. Fill me in. What am I missing? And don’t say a brain or common sense. I already know that.
@@happybee7725 I just thought of they use their feet as backdrop for hunting they would poke them with their beak once in a while and be angry about doing it. And I thought that was funny and its similar to us biting our own cheeks once in a while. That's all.

Herons can eat entire baby alligators
I'd imagine the shade also removes glare off the surface of the water, allowing it to see below the surface better.
exact thought
Brilliant
Oh it’s way more than that, they see the cover and think perfect birds can’t see me under this cover I don’t need to worry about death from above.
yea exactly. it's like when you try to look at your smartphone screen outside in the sunlight. you can't see it so you gotta cover your arm over it
not only that, fish prefer areas with darker shades, so the canopy provided by the herons helps luring the fish as well

The shade from its wings, blocks the bright reflections and allows it to see the prey much more clearly.
Yeah, it's do he can see, how is that not mentioned.

Fish : Hey, Man. Watch out for that moving umbrella.
Black is indeed majestic and beautiful.
sounds like race baiting to me.
Bird has his own ballroom gown.
I wonder if the shadow also helps remove reflections from the surface so the fish are easier to see.
That exactly the point the narrator was just to dumb to realize it lol
My son just ice fished with friends who had an ice hut. He said they could see the fish trying to decide whether to go for the bait or not clear as day.
@kolebronson24 are you a little kid or something? The narrator is reading a script. The reasons he said are absolutely all true.
That is exactly why the bird does it, specifically to do the same thing polarized sunglasses do for fishermen, remove the sky reflection from the top of the water so you can see any fish that swim by. Then it picks up mud to bury its Beach so we can stick just one toe up and wiggle it, using it like a lure by making it appear the way a grub worm or larvae would, on the bottom of the body of water. This guy just doesn't know how birds work, He had no idea what he was talking about. He thought a cursory glance through Google would tell him enough to make an accurate video like this. He was wrong.
@@kolebronson24you are correct sir.

We do a little bit of trolling.
I came to find this comment 🤣🤣
Exactly what I thought! 😂 "Are you afraid of the dark?" 🤣
I’m sure spreading the wings into a canopy cuts down glare and makes it easier to look through the surface of the water. Kind of like putting your hands on the sides of your face when looking through a window during the day.
I was about to comment the same thing
Also, fish seek dark places to hide in. Clever birds!
The funniest clip of this bird will always be 'Nighttime! Daytime!'
I’ve been ruined by the internet, every time I see this bird the ‘niiighttiiime, DAYTIME’ clip pops in my head and I like ‘god damn it let me enjoy nature!’
The little voice in the back of my mind went, "NIGHT TIME! DAY TIME!"😂
can you explain this joke? I'm a foreigner.
@@Zeratsu A youtuber called Zefrank made a short about this bird
@@jareimefilm8480I don't think it was zefrank that made that video
I'd heard in a other video that the wings were also to get rid of the light's reflection on the water.
Yeah, it can see under the water that way and hunt more efficiently.
Yep. No specular reflections so the surface of the water is more window like and less mirror like.
This honestly seems like the better explanation, because who said fish were more attracted to shade than not?
I also know that the wing spreading is to prevent the water reflecting.
@@MsDragonbal776 Best reason if they are attracted to shade, is because there is a cover over them, meaning a protection from creatures above them, making this hunting method diabolically good
When a bird toss up gang signs you know it's personal.
I was shocked to see it about 6 months ago in Urban Marshland in Lagos, Nigeria. I was awed.
