Thanks for coming back to them, 4 piece Nemophila will be just fine. Still sounds great, and you can easily tell it's them. 'Groundbreakers of Destiny', I believe, is what G.O.D. stands for. The 1st single from an upcoming 4th album. Mayu is going to be playing some guitar, and solos more of guitar and bass. Their newest single is the ballad "Beautiful Days". They also recently released a live in studio 4 piece version of "Style".
100 percent agree. I always knew they be fine. We will always miss Saki for sure. But Hazuki is amazing. That is why when they formed during Mayu Session Saki is the one who brought in Hazuki. She knew how good she was and the potential. Despite restructuring some of the songs with more bass solos and even more drum fills there are still many of their songs they can still play the same. Hearing them play Dissension and Revive live you will notice Saki and that second guitar missing during parts but on the solos Hazuki just plays both parts and shreds the hell out of them. She usually plays her part the same and Saki part she plays it the same but with her own twist. As much as I love Saki playing and she is incredible Hazuki been my fav the whole time and happy to see her take on much more. Also like you said Mayu has been playing on some songs too. Their last live stream a few months back she even played on LIFE and was finger tapping along with Hazuki in the beginning and playing the end of the solo section with Hazuki. She has always played she is very talented but not to this level and I can already tell how much she is improving. Which will help fill in some of the rhythm guitar when they think they need it. Love this band!!
They have a new producer now. It sounds like they have more creative freedom now, each of them having their own input. Listening to Hazuki’s demos for Ibanez and other stuff, some of those guitar riffs sound like you’d expect from her if she’s writing. Their new album drops in January.
New Nemophila album coming out next month written by the band members. Saki seems to mostly do pop covers now. Meanwhile Hazuki is doing heavy (and ballady) stuff with Nemo and progressive stuff with Koiai
@@DavidKAnderson I agree yes her original stuff is very good. the other cover stuff mm interesting haha. But I also think it is one of the reasons she left. She wanted more freedom to do many different things. I'm really digging them as a four piece just as much and can't wait to hear the whole new album when it drops next month.
@@kawliga4845 Having seen the quartet version live a couple times now, I can safely say I like them just as much as ever. They've retained that very special, rare ability to make even a small live house show seem like an Event (with a capital E!). The chemistry is still there in full force. Mayu played rhythm guitar on about a quarter of the songs the second time I saw this lineup...and she's good at it. I'm really looking forward to the new album, too. I have every confidence it'll be an AotY contender,.
Re Saki’s “original stuff” being “small in output”. Not so, if you include her work outside Nemophila. She wrote many songs for Mary’s Blood, a band I saw live about 35 times over the years. She was MB’s most important music composer, and she wrote good lyrics too, not surprising given her literary training.
@@OtobokeGaijin6218 I was speaking strictly of her _current_ solo output (that is, after leaving Nemophila), not her entire history. I don't think anyone argues that hasn't been prolific. I have no issues with her not rushing to release a bunch of songs right now. The "Germinans" stuff is excellent...and quality over quantity!
bout f-cking time you guys, a Godly metal song from power Goddesses! 🤟❤🔥 do not underestimate Hazuki's skills, check some of the live show vids, she plays Saki's solo parts together with hers (perfectly) so more playing for her! AND you to hear Tamu go insane on drums? check out the killer follow up song "Progress" (audio upload ) if you dare
This is Saki's latest solo video for her song "The Empress", granted it's from 5 months ago. ruclips.net/video/t9mwlHKkLE0/видео.html And this is her covering the Gacharic Spin song "Tamashii", with Hana from Gacharic Spin on guitar as Saki's support for her first live, since the split. ruclips.net/video/ciQZ7GshSuo/видео.html
Love this band! I have to say Tamu is probably my favorite drummer right now. I mean, just the drums at the beginning alone? WHOA! Can't wait for the new album. The four piece is doing awesome!!!
Saki already has three solo songs out under her own name, each one with music videos here on RUclips. * Brigthness (released 2021, while still in Nemophila) * Germinans (released this year, 2024) * The Empress (released this year, 2024) Saki also did a big solo concert this year, with some of her musician friends playing the other instruments. That obviously featured the above three songs, plus some Nemophila material and a bunch of covers. There isn't a whole lot from that concert that has leaked onto RUclips, but you can find her version of Aerosmith's "Dream on" if you look for it.
@eckligt exactly because Saki is gone an is a great guitarist but I have moved on an as a guitarist myself Nemophila still has the better overall guitarist in Huzuki
At their show at Nagoya Electric Ladyland' few weeks ago, they mentioned SAKI. With my bad Japanese, I think they said she would have liked to be there. I think Nemophila wants to go in a more thrash direction while SAKI prefers a guitar virtuosity approach. Mayu was really inciting the moshing. At their show at Club Seata a small venue two weeks ago, she was stage diving. Lots of moshing, wall of death, crowd surfing. The next band's set, she and Haraguchi-san came out on the floor and participated in all the crowd antics. There's a photo of Mayu crowd surfing with Haraguchi-san moshing.
Heres the thing, theyre still great but without two guitars all the old songs are obviously missing that second guitar which brings the songs down to not what they were
Have you seen them live in the quartet lineup? I think you have a valid point for _some_ of the old catalog...but the songs they're choosing for live sets now still work _very_ well. They've been really smart about adjusting the arrangements, plus for songs where the need is for fuller rhythm sound (as opposed to twin lead fireworks), Mayu does a very good job on rhythm.
I've seen Nemophila live several times, including twice as a quartet. Although they were very good the first time, not long at all after Saki's departure, you coudl hear that they've further gelled in the new configuration at the second show. Also the second show was first time I'd seen them with Mayu playing rhythm guitar (and playing it very well, I might add) on about a quarter of the songs. THis song is one of their very best in my view, and that's saying a LOT. After all, Nemophila are my favorite band in the world. I have very high expectations for the new album. I'm rather dubious about that "creative control by the producer" argument about Saki's departure. Their producer/songwriter left at virtually the same time as her, for one thing. My personal take is that the split was a generally cordial disagreement about direction between Saki and Mayu...and it's Mayu's band, after all. Plus Saki has a bit of the "gypsy troubadour" in her makeup, and I think she gets restless in the same project after a while.
Long Story/Short Answer: We don't know what is going on, there are a lot of rumours but few facts. I'll say it again WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. Saki has numerous projects that she was/is a part of including solo work ("GERMINANS" and "THE EMPRESS"). She was the last to join Nemophila, she was at first going to act as a consultant or producer of some sort (the band she was in at the time, Mary's Blood, was not yet on hiatus), but decided to play guitar. There might be a label conflict in there also (who Mary's Blood is signed with vs who Saki is signed with vs who other Saki projects are signed with vs who Nemophila is signed with; it could get real messy) but I'm not sure. Mary's Blood might still be a thing (other fans have said "there is still hope"), the musicians that were in it don't seem to refer to themselves as ex-members, even though they all have solo work or other bands they play for. Saki has done a live show and had Senri, YunikaImpact, and Hana (from Gacharic Spin/Doll$Boxx) as support. Gacharic Spin has said that they are slowing down a bit in 2025 (not breaking up, not on Hiatus) as some members wish to concentrate on Solo work and other projects (Hana, aside from supporting Saki, has also been supporting Takayoshi Ohmura (Kami Band)). The Bassist of East of Eden has left the band (speculation is KOIAI but who knows). Things are very much in flux at the moment and we don't really know what is going on behind the scenes and until someone makes an announcement...
Eu gostaria tanto que vocês chegassem a Dan Vasc, vocês iriam amar, ele é um cantor maravilhoso, ele canta heavy metal, baladas, folks, rock anos 80 e acreditem até ópera, simplesmente é incrível! I feel they are just as awesome as a 4 piece. Thrash verses and soaring chorus ... this is in my top 3.
Nah, the old songs are unplayable now as a 4 piece so theyre definitely not what they were, still talented though.
