Elvis did some great singing in his ‘68 Comeback Special … Trying To Get To You is a really good one, which I think you will enjoy, & showcases the power in his voice.
NO, not his last performance This concert was the last FILMED concert but not his last; he then went on to do 5 more concerts, the last one was on June 26th. He was extremely ill at this point with multiple physical ailments & a lot of medication & was approximately 8 weeks away from dying. This concert was June 21, 1977, he passed away August 16, 1977. While he had difficulty speaking he still managed to sing beautifully. This is what he accomplished in June of 1977 -- June 17 - Springfield, Missouri June 18 Kansas City, Missouri June 19 Omaha, Nebraska. June 20 Lincoln, Nebraska June 21 Rapid City, South Dakota (last FILMED concert) June 22 Sioux Falls, South Dakota June 23 Des Moines, Iowa June 24 Madison, Wisconsin June 25 Cincinnati, Ohio June 26 Indianapolis, Indiana (LAST concert)
Thanks for pointing out this was definitely NOT his last concert. You are right it was actually exactly 8 weeks later (56 days) that our Elvis sadly passed away. I think you're also right Carol that there were 5 more performances: 1 on each night until that BRILLIANT very last show which sounds better on record (vinyl) albums like 'The Final Days' double album and 'The Last Farewell' double album because these were 'fan' recordings from the audience not taken from 'the mixing desk' area = like cd recordings, and yet just as clear of Elvis voice 'and' the fans excitement. I have heard that on 1 of those nights of the 5 concerts I mentioned above (ending with 'the best' one) he played 2 concerts on that particular night though. If this is true then there were actually 6 concerts after this one and not 5! Considering his physical problems - which NEVER affected his incredible singing voice and vocal range, I think Elvis performed incredibly well! This night was good though and you can get it on a 'rare' double dvd with backstage footage and the 19th June 1977 concert also. Although you can see all this on you tube I personally prefer it on my own dvd, where you can watch it easily over and over again whenever you wish!🥰
In many videos, people keep saying this was his last performance and he passed away 6 weeks later, which is wrong. You got this information right thank you.
@@Mariethename99 You're very welcome. This is why I always make a point to say it was last FILMED but NOT LAST. I don't know how that all started but there is a lot of misinformation surrounding Elvis -- particularly when it comes to "If I Can Dream."
Every time I listen to this song, I cry. He didn't have much longer to live yet his voice never failed him. So strong and beautiful. And, yes, he did play the piano. There are some clips out there where he's on the piano, mostly in between rehearsing songs, but they're great. He had a great talent for knowing exactly what sound he wanted from himself, the instruments and backup singers.
Yes so sad .but he was very unwell. Maybe shouldnt have been singing but. Elvis never let anyone down he gave this beautiful.beautiful version of the wonderful song. Hear his voiice it goes high low so perfectly !! Thats. Elvis. Yes wow oh wow.!! So good to see new ones being drawn to him.
This was a very sad moment for Elvis fans, nonetheless the emotional depth of this performance is outstanding. His voice is just so beautifully powerful that it reaches my soul. Every time I watch it I feel his pain, but at the same time I feel hopeful that he is finally resting alongside his mother and daughter. ✝️ I can see from from your reactions that you are starting to appreciate Elvis, thank you for giving him a chance.
It took me a couple of days to watch this one because even though I've seen this performance so many times it still makes me tear up. We love Elvis so much and he will never be forgotten. Thank you for all your Elvis reactions.
I can't watch this without crying. He was a baritone with three and a half octave range. I think by this stage he knew he was dying and let himself go. He refused a colostomy, had major health conditions. Poor man. Super gifted talent, he was a true one off. He was bot celebrated enough in life ❤
Elvis was awesome, because of his amazing voice, and so much more. Thanks for playing this song on your video. His rendition of Unchained Melody is beautiful and haunting at the same time.
Jane H …. It always hurts to see this performance, although Elvis sang it beautifully. But 8 weeks later he was gone & left millions of people worldwide shocked & grieving. Many of us are still here, & we love him every bit as much as we did when he was alive & in good health. It’s wonderful to see a much younger generation listening to him. Always enjoy your Elvis reactions.
Just hrs before he passed he was at his piano playing &reciting Blue Eye's Crying in the Rain,do yourself a treat young man and react to this its truly a nice piece
In the beginning of his singing career he did Jailhouse rock about being in jail and at the end if his singing career Elvis sings a song about someone in jail writing his love About coming home and to wait for him...the circle was completed. He is Epic in every way.
This was the real Elvis bearing his soul into this song. He got up on that stage in poor health and yet he gives us that performance near the end of his life. You see no dancers, no special effects and lighting he stands alone in a class by himself.TCB
Dude, this song was the last song he sang in this concert before he died. It really was an inspiring his voice even though he was not 8n good health.. It seems that he was singing this song for his eulogy.
I love Elvis forever and always!! You need to check out more of his music. This video always makes me cry with this song to his ex- wife. ❤😭🙏🏻. Gone to soon RIP 😇

A bit of info & suggestion -- if you're going to get seriously involved w-Elvis, a couple of things you should be aware of that people never mention: (1) Elvis did more than one version of each of his songs -- there are versions with voice only & no live performance & (2) there are versions where he would perform a song one way on a particular night & he would do it a little differently on another night. He never performed a song the same way 2ce, he never repeated himself. It's important for people to add links for songs because how are you going to know what to watch. Thanks.

The voice and health was much better in the early 60s would have done better with this song in say 62 the voice was more flexible and sweet but still good performance
@@carolhayar3037 for sure, 1970s elvis, particularly his last year or so, he had a force of power that did not yet exist in his other decades. For example, try to picture early 1960s elvis doing a song like Hurt. Granted his vocals were smoother back then, but not more powerful, so it's a trade off.
@@scsu5085 Speaking of force & power, every yr. or 2 brought about changes -- not just in looks but that great voice which became a bit deeper & not only had great power but the emotion & passion was phenomenal -- Hampton Roads '72 is really good.
He did this only matter of months before he passed away. His health problems where may so much worse by his so call Manager Tom Parker. Parker knew Elvis was not well and a very sick man. But he was hell bent on working Elvis right up until he died. Tom Parker had no other clients Elvis was his sole source of income and he knew when Elvis died his meal ticket was gone. Parker has been ripping Elvis off the whole time that he managed him. Parker was taking 50% of everything Elvis earned. When Elvis passed way parker had way more money than Elvis had. He stole from Elvis. It didn't come out until after Elvis death that the reason Parker never allowed Elvis to tour outside of America and Hawaii was because Parker was a illegal immigrants in America and didn't have a passport. So if Elvis was to travel to England, Australia or any other country Parker couldn't go with him because Parker would have never been allowed back into America. When Elvis died it turned out that sum total of money in the estate was $100,000. realising that there was not enough money to cover 12 months on covering the cost to run Gracelands. His manager then demand that he was entitled to half of that $100,000. Elvis's father told Parker to get lost. Parker talked Elvis's into selling the right to all of his song for $5 million dollars then Parker turned round and took $2.5 million dollar of the 5 million, by the time Elvis's payed out all the tax's on the sale of his song from the $5 million, Elvis got a sum total of $100,000. His manager used abuse and killed Elvis
