Hi, i just purchased a long-term mobal sim card to which i will be picking up at the airport soon. Do i purchase the plans after i activate the sim card there?
Thank you very much for this informative video. I am rather new to use a SIM card to travel overseas. I will be traveling from the US to Tokyo. I have the international roaming plan with my regular US cell phone provider, but because I have friends and family who live permanently in Japan, for their sake, I need a SIM card with the local Japanese phone number. My travel duration is less than a month. And I will be taking an iPhone 8. I plan on picking up the SIM card up on my arrival to Haneda, too... What would be your recommendation, please? Thank you so much! 😊
Hi, if you need the local Japanese phone number, then you can try the mobal plan - www.mobal.com/japan-sim-card/?t=st&source=3423 The Model (SIMs for Calls, Texts & Data) 30 days plans. It is available for pick-up at Haneda Airport - Haneda Airport Terminal 3 at the JTB Meeting Counter. If both parties have the messengers Apps like Whatsapp or LINE or other apps. You can also use the Data Only SIM plan, it only require data to work and don't need the local phone number. And if you choose to use the Data Only SIM, then the Sakura Mobile might be a better option as it provide more options in terms of the duration of use, from 5,8,12,15,21,30 days. Although price might be slightly higher. Sakura Mobile - www.sakuramobile.jp/lp/?i=psim Hope it help for your consideration.
hi, how long before leaving for japan do you recommend purchasing? how long does shipping take (i live in italy)? i would like to purchase mobal for 16 days, does the service start when you insert the sim into the phone? because i was thinking of purchasing it now even if i leave on november 16th. thanks.
Hi, for mobal it will take about 8-15 days for international delivery. The actual date on when you will received will be display when you checkout and indicate your address. The service will only be activated once it is connect to Japan network. The other alternative is getting the ESIM, you don't need physical card. So you don't have to worry about the shipment and is cheaper. Mobal. ESIM - www.mobal.com/japan-esims/?source=3423 SimCard - www.mobal.com/japan-sim-card/?t=st&source=3423
Yes, once you make the order, they will send you a confirmation email with the order number. You just need to show them the email or you can screenshot the email and show to them at the designated counter from the provider.
I bought a mobal e sim but I couldn’t install it it says error I write to support but never answer 😖 before I was using an airalo eSIM it was working nice
You need a monthly plan in order to have a Japan phone number. Both Mobal and Sakura have monthly fee applied for their Long-term Japan Voice+Data SIM Card. Both require a monthly plan. Mobal plan can be cancel anytime as stated in their website.
SIM Card is a physical card that you will insert into your mobile, replacing your US SIM card when you are in Japan. Whereas ESIM, the function is the same as per the SIM Card, but you don't need to replace your US SIM card in your mobile. ESIM is a better choice for most travellers, as you can just activate it from your mobile setting function once you arrived in Japan. As for pocket WIFI, im not sure whether you can purchase the Japan SIM card and insert into your own pocket wifi. But i think travel SIM card and the pocket WIFI (SIM card) system might be different. And typical SIM card only allow to connect to 1 device, so i don't think getting the Japan SIM card alone can work.
Hi, looking for help and advice, I'm travelling Japan in a camper for 6 weeks. My work is on the Internet, which allows me to travel for long periods of time. The issue I am having is the 2gig a day fare usage limit. This seems to be on all travel data sim cards. This is totally messing up my trip, as I am constantly hitting the limit and having to find WiFi spots. Has anyone found a solution to please
Maybe you can try out Sakura Mobile, pocket wifi, and here's the link - www.sakuramobile.jp/lp/?i=uwifi They offer plan without FUP. And here's about their FUP : ※The Pocket WiFi are designed to be used by travelers and do not support long-term video streaming, video-conferencing/calling for extended periods of time, or downloading large amounts of data. If you plan on using the SIM cards or Pocket WiFi for such purposes, please contact us, we would like to offer you our business plan (without FUP). Hope it help...
@@simplifytravel Hi, thanks so much for the detailed reply, much appriciated. I have already Sakura sim cards, but when I asked them about the FUP, they didn't offer me any other options. They sais that just they way it is. I think 2gig is very small to today standards.

Can you print QR codes and show them?
Hi @robtait1981, may i know which QR codes you are referring to, regarding the SIMs cards?
@@simplifytravel the immigration and customs QR codes
I would recommend screenshot on your mobile, as print out, if the quality is not clear, the system might have issue reading the code.
God the language in this video is so cringe :(
