I guess i can answer because i also was able to only do 1 pull up and in less then 8 months i got to 11, the main thing you should do is instead of doing sets to failure do half to failure but many times, since you only are able to do one pull up you should do easier variations and do them alot during training day. Also there is alot that goes into form, such as starting from active hang before doing a pull up.
