  • Hello and welcome to my channel. Today we take a look at the ‪@BULARMORY‬ 1911 Commander. In my opinion, this 1911 represents an amazing value with quality and features of 1911s costing twice as much (or more). What are your thoughts on this ‪@BULARMORY‬ 1911? I look forward to your comments.
    Thank you for stopping by and God Bless.

    I tell you, it took me over a year to finally find one of these. I actually accidentally stumbled on one at a local gun shop. It's chambered in 9mm, which I've read is an even softer shooter. First time I actually was able to feel/touch one. It is unbelieveable!! The fit & finish is what I paid over $2500 to King's gun works in Burbank, CA to achieve, and it didn't come close. Thanks for the review!

    Bul makes the Magnum Research 1911s as well and they are a lot easier to find they are literally the same gun. These are by far the best 1911 you can buy for under 1000 dollars

For the price, hard to beat, just absolutely gorgeous and smooth. I ended selling it to a friend to upgrade my Colt Gold CUP - which ended up being a really good choice.

    I missed this video when it first came out. I bought two from bul. My edc is the 1911ultra lightweight in 45cal. 3.5 inch two tone bull barrel. It gives my dan wesson a run for it's money. 950.00 vs 1600. Absolutely flawless, colt may have come up with the officers model but bul definitely perfected it. Great video.

    Just now viewing this video of your Bul Armory 1911 Commander. I have one of these guns and am just gaga over it. It is the first 1911 I have ever owned and it is a fantastic shooter. I bought mine at a local gun store for about the price you bought this one. I now own three other 1911's and have judged them all by the Bul Armory model. The others I own are fine shooters also, and I carry all three in a rotation of guns that includes one striker fired pistol, the CZ P-10c. But none will ever capture my heart like the Bul.

    I saw one the other day at the range but in Government size, and it was amazing, too. As you have mentioned, everything about this gun shoots above its pay grade. It is as good in fit and finish as 1911's, costing twice the money. Racking this baby is buttery, and the trigger pull, well, it seems super premium. The grip is, as you say, supple, sublime. I love this gun; not only does she have a pretty face and body, but she knows how to use it. The only complaint you mentioned is the sighting, which I, too, will change out of the box.

    I just shot mine for the first time on Monday at the indoor range. My first 45ACP and 1911. I don't see any need to spend more than the $850 I did (lightly used). I did my research independently and I settled on the BUL. I strongly recommend to clean any gun new or used before you shoot it. The very first round I put though it had a failed casing so when it was shot, it felt like a .22, no recoil at all. Come to find out almost all the gases exited out the ejector port while the bullet bounced off the target. Once inspected it was cleared and subsequent shots were fine. The BUL stays true to the robustness of the original 1911 with only minor, non-conflicting upgrades. Nice gun, easier to shoot as a 9mm.

    I've wanted one of these for some time now. I haven't found one yet "in the flesh," but based on all I've heard, I may just go ahead and order one in 45 ACP. Ironically, what turned me on to them was all the great things I kept hearing about the Magnum Research Desert Eagle 1911's, and then I found that BUL actually makes them.

    I have had this one in 9mm for two years, about 2-3 thousand rounds, apart from the malfunction where the slide would not catch open after last round (due to the fact that I have never cleaned the magazines) it worked like a sewing machine. Traded it for the Beretta 92G Elite LTT and regretting it ever since.

      Which do you prefer to shoot? trying to decide between the two. I feel like the softer recoil of the 9mm will make it more enjoyable (and cheaper). But I also don't have anything chambered in 45acp yet, all my pistols are 9mm. Partially so I can just buy one type of ammo, but I feel like some variety wouldn't be bad.

    And you shoot it well. The group is better than the one with the Atlas Athena.
    The Bul Commander looks nice. No big text on it, just smooth matt. The play in the trigger and the edges on the top of the grip safety bug me. With how you showed the movement I wonder if some vertical play can be beneficial if one isn't exactly pressing straight back but a bit up/down and the trigger allows it instead of having the movement induced in the whole pistol.
    I also wonder if anyone makes those rolling triggers like some AR match triggers.
    EDIT: The structure on the safety is a nice detail.
    How does it break down with the full length guide rod? Is it available with a rail?
    If you don't have your trigger gauge with you, testing the grip safety and testing for play is missing. Have a swell weekend.

    They’re nice, but I’m more interested in more reliable sidearms which have greater capacity and combat proven. Range toys and safe queens aren’t prudent any longer. I just sold my BUL commander. HK is where it’s at.

    • @MDpolo
      @MDpolo  11 месяцев назад

      I understand what you’re saying if capacity is an issue, but don’t you think the 1911 design has been combat proven? Thank you very much for stopping by.

    • @zebwalton979
      @zebwalton979 10 месяцев назад

      It was. But did it undergo the same testing or was it meant to perform at the same rigorous specifications as today’s combat-proven arms? It’s an antiquated design; low capacity, heavy, jams/malfunctions without regular maintenance.
      It’s an iconic design... it’s beautiful. But having it sit around in a safe and bringing it out on occasion to have fun at the range just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s not something that one reaches for in a SHTF situation, unless that’s all you have.
      I think I paid $900 for my BUL 9mm Commander, and I sold it for about the same. That, as well as others which were ‘safe queens’, had tied up money that could’ve been spent on optics, ammo, parts, windmill (we actually used the money to purchase a windmill that pumps water from a well to a holding tank), and other things I need more. Having a couple of proven, modern sidearms (USP is still relevant), is all one needs unless you’re a collector and have extra resources to spend on things you don’t need.
      That said, the BUL exceeded the Dan Wesson I had in every way and was half the price. It even exceed my Colt in quality/design and was a few hundred less than that one too. It’s a very, very well-designed 1911, except for the breakdown... I didn’t like the having to use a paper clip to capture the spring.

    Any MIM parts?? Curious. Not that it REALLY matters. Just curious....as sthere are mor companies putting out quality firearms with all forged parts for good prices.
    BUL Armory ...and compies like them (Canik, Arex, Tisas.....) just proves we don't NEED TO spend $50000-plus to get a "good pistol". ...that a lot of the time those "custom" guns companies are just highly inflating theeir asking prices becasue htey can (good marketing PLUS lots of "gun nerds" willing to pay the prices..so they can feel important at the range and at Tx BBQ's...easier to afford payments on a 1911 vs a Porsche).....I mean REALLY....BUL Armory guns like this one...has features found on "custom 1911's"...even Wilson's don't offer 25 LPI checkering..heh...kind of surprising....they're at 30 lpi front -chckering and i think back, top of slide.....even Springfield offers 20 LPI checkering on their TRP...."hand-fitted"....etc...
    So hard for ME to justify spending 3ven $30000 on guns that are not THAT MUCH better than a $1700 gun if at all...lot of it is cosmetics (unique metal work on the outside...e.g. style of serrations...wider, narrower, blacked sectins of serrarions...heh...big WOOOP11 though a few have COMPs, lightening cuts...which you can find on sub $1700 polymer guns so...heh)....
    Trick is to not get suckered into the marketing from all the compoanies just trying to make more money....most "features" we donm't actually need ..accessories we don't need e.g. RDS (unless for sport shooting...no need in defensive situations since htey are "up close and personal" under 10 yars)..)....
