My dad gave me that watch in the 70 ties. I bought the one with the blue dial last year and I recently bought the blue neptunian. My dad was a Edox dealer in the 70 ties
Hi, do you know how to wind the new edox crown. I am new to this. I just got mine and don’t know how to wind it because it’s not moving forward or backward at all, I even can’t pull it out.
@@LG-bq9lm counter clockwise to open the crown. Use some finger force lol. Its a lock do its watertight. Do you have the self widing model? If so its written on the front of the watch unther the text skydiver. If it just saying skydiver 70s then its battery driven model.. then a jewellery shop needs to replace the battery!
Which between the 70s and the Neptunian do you prefer? I love both, but the Neptunian a bit more but am concerned about the size.
@Dave Mascetti I have them both. The neptunian is larger, and there are some days it's too heavy and I wear the 70 ties. But like today, aim wearing the neptunian and every time i look at the watch aim in love.
You can see that the quality of the neptunian is higher compared to the 70ties. But the 70 ties is a watch you can wear every day on every occasion. I hope my long explanation helps 😁

Brilliant review. Great narrative which highlights the details and great photography. I have narrowed down my next purchace to this black dial/ceramic bezel Edox Skydiver and a Steinhart - either the Vintage Red 39mm (400€) or new model Ocean 39 904 (780€). If I can get the Edox for approx. 800 euros it would be a no-brainer. Usual retail price is between 950 -1100 €.

I actually have the Edox skydiver 70s, black with the green dial. Beautiful watch, case and overall presentation. However I feel the band feels cheap, almost like the quality of what you would get for a Big 5 watch. The edges of the links do not feel as smooth as they could and it seldom grabs hair. However the case is unmatched for the price point
I still can’t believe they discontinued this model and never did a 40mm version 😂

Newer version of Skydiver 70s had cathedral hands and ceramic bezel, looks much better. Wearability is also good due to relatively thin case, Edox used sw 200-1 special/ETA 2824-2 elaboré in this watch, very good timekeeping, president bracelet i liked as well, nothing to complain. Here in this part of the world Edox has been around for nearly 60 years as a prestigious known brand. How does it compare to other brands i have had? I have had Tag Aquaracer for a time, quality wise it is close to Aquaracer and only a level below the Longines Hydroconquest in my opinion.
Does the reflection of the crystal without AF coating male the Dial less legible in very bright ambient?
Hi. Is edox really good? I got a hydro sub auto and after 3 monthes it faced problem how ever it had garanty. Another one is fleet 1650 limit edition it stop after 3 days and sent it again for change
Agree 100% the font of “Sky Diver” is enough of a nod to the original reference, you do not need the decade there as well. My Black Friday purchase was a Tribus TRI-03 gold/beige, should hopefully arrive in a week or so. Thanks for the great videos, and I enjoy the watches you choose to feature

I agree the "70s" is a mistake on the dial. Otherwise it's a beautiful watch.
The price is to high for me here in Switzerland, I prefer buying the Certina DS Action Powermatic 80 Diver Sea Turtle Conservancy Special Edition (what a long name) for example.

Ceramic insert bezel ??
The skydiver watches that are sold in Switzerland have a triangular shape on the hour hand. Only the quartz version has a round hour hand like Rolex. I am confused.
Yup, there is a 3rd version that has mercedes hands and automatic movement. ( i think it's the previous collection)

OK they reissud a vintage watch of their brand but it was still a copy of a sub. But sure the thinness and 2892 is a big plus against a comparative squale, steinhart or even san martin and cronos subs.

TIL according to Edox reissue of a Sub homage makes it... not a Sub homage😂It's funny how watch manufacturers will create any kind of "secret project", "never before seen in public", "top secret mysterious wealthy Swiss colonel order for the elite mountain paratroopers(lolololol)" and other tear jerk stories that never happened to sell their watches, they learn from the best - vintage Rolex flippers, now the stories these watch peddlers are able to produce are award worthy😂
I have nothing against homages, I used to wear them all the time and still have a few that I don't wear anymore, but just call it what it is, no invented BS stories, there's no shame in it, almost every brand that is on the market long enough have made a copy of ether Carier Tank or one of the Rolex models in their history. Even big names made Rolex homages, as examples - Hamilton copied Sub, Datejust, Explorer II and Tank, BAUME-MERCIER copied Datejust and Tank, Eterna copied Sub and Datejust, Citizen did a homage of a Sub and Datejust, Casio copy of Sub and Datejust, Seiko homages of various Rolex models and Carier Tank, Orient have made one of the best copies of vintage Daydate and Sub, Bulova copied almost full Rolex lineup, Glashutte copied Sub, Zenith copied Sub, Datejust and Daydate, Longines copied Datejust, Daydate and Tank, even Vacheron made a straight up copy of Rolex Turnograph and Cartier's Tank! So relax Edox, you're here just to ride the Rolex homage gravy train😄

I'm a watch nut, so I don't need excuses to want a watch. BUT...why does the fact that it was a 70's homage to the submariner make it more desirable, versus just admitting it's a sub homage now (the same as it likely was originally)? It's an entertaining story, but in reality it's probably just a military guy who said "make me something like the submariner" back in the 70's. I'm not sure I follow why that makes it any different than a modern homage. Don't get me wrong, I kinda like the vintage elements, but in the end it is what it is.

The first dive watch was made by Blancpain in 1953 called 50 fathoms. The Rolex Sub was a copy of that watch and came out in 1954. Now where do we stand? Do you know who first came out with the Mercedes hour hand by any chance? I don't know, was it Rolex? Thanks

But then because they create a special projects in the 70,s copying a Rolex submariner, then it's not an homage anymore but a reissue?!!!
