i've been learning piano from various youtube lessons for 2 years now. you're the best teacher on here in my humble opinion. i have learned so much from you. thanks for all your effort, greatly appreciated!
Nate-you’re teaching the background soundtrack to my youth with these tutorials, this, The Weight, so many others. It’s so nice to see these songs recognized down another generation. Hope everyone can be generous in their support to you, you deserve it especially given how thoughtful these lessons are. Continued success and blessings.
Tough song to make sound good, you pulled it off. It really sounded great. Then when you did the advanced horn section I was hooked. Off to the piano I go with a new song to nail. Thanks Nate. You truly did a wonderful job on this.
Lately, you have been dropping new tutorials on the weekend I always look forwa😊rd to the weekends. Im currently working on my backlog of all your wonderful tutorials. Im working on "Desperado" at the moment. After that Ill probably do "The Gold Rush". I love your channel
thank you for all of your piano lessons man they are so useful and educational, could you look into doing a lesson for “Oh you pretty things” by David Bowie it’s such a amazing song
I have tried learning through so many other channels but you are the only one whose lessons stick! Would you consider doing 16 Carriages by Beyoncé? I love the drop when she sings “16 Carriages” and would love to be able to learn it.
Great tune & tutorial, I would like to have a go at learning this one. One question occurred to me. When playing inverted triads in the right hand, should one also invert the bass notes played in the left hand. Am studying your video hard, to see if this is something you do.
Great question! The simple answer is no...the root of the chord is still the root of the chord that you want to emphasize with the bass to ground the sound. We invert the right hand for different reasons...to make the chords flow more smoothly and be less jumpy, to get just the right amount of "brightness", or to create and imply melodies by controlling what the highest pitch heard on each chord is. But changing the bass note to a different chord tone seriously changes the character of the sound. Sometimes that's what you want! But in that case it will be specified...an Am chord where you play the 3rd (C) instead of the root (A) would be written as Am/C Cheers!

Thanks very much for taking the time to answer my question, I now also understand why they write Am/C on the lead sheets. @@PianowithNate

Hi! I'm curious about this, could you link me to what other lesson you were using?
