A little training could make it work easily and as proven by the Landsknechte around the 16th century, you don't need much of it, they were swinging those things like butter knives. Even better when it's made out of valyrian steel which is known to be far lighter than regular steel It is said that Ned Stark used Ice during the siege of Pyke

i really like Aemond but sincerely Daemon as way more experience of war and "real duels" in the book, (even after, Aemond mainly fight on Vhagar, not with his men). Daemon used fearless tactical skills to kill Aemond, it was something unexpected for Aemond, Daemon slams. Number 2 Cregan Stark
Daemon's countless war experiences in battle kinda trumps a knight who spends most of his time in tourney's and in the king's guard and an edgy teen who only trains with the sword but depends on his dragon for most of his kills.
1.) Criston Cole who literally waxed Daemon and Harwin Strong as well as the Cargyll twins 2.) Roddy the Ruin took out the most senior knight of Oldtown and Ormund Hightower in a 2 v 1 and lost his sword arm and still managed to kill both! 3.) Daemon Targaryen. A renowned warrior and tourney fighter with a bunch of war experience. 4.) Aemond Targaryen is described as a deadly swordsman but we know of none of his feats 5.) Pate of Longleaf AKA Pate The Lion slayer who cut down Jason Lannister in the Fishfeed and was a hero in the first battle of Tumbleton
If this included all stories including Game of Thrones and back stories as well… The list would be completely different! Arthur Dayne would be at the top!

Criston Cole would be the best warrior of this time period if we are going by the books, and it's not even a contest. In the show it does seem like they have buffed Aemond and Daemon, but we'll see what happens

Well. In season one you saw Aemond not challenge Daemon when he had the chance during dinner he backed down quite fast. And Daemon took on the crab feeders army by himself. What did Aemond do in season one that made him a better warrior. Getting Vhagar was a big deal but the only warrior scene we saw was him in training with Christon

I don’t agree with Aemond being 1 on the list but perhaps if he lived longer and gained more experience. At his young age he’s able to contend with Cole and Daemon, I’d imagine if he lived up to their ages he would easily outrank them. Then again perhaps not, progress isn’t always linear.

Whenever people cite the training session with Criston Cole as Aemond's combat feat, I laugh out loud. He's the prince. Criston Cole was definitely holding back so not to hurt him. If they were in an actual fight, Criston would definitely have beaten him.

Well. In season one you saw Aemond not challenge Daemon when he had the chance during dinner he backed down quite fast. And Daemon took on the crab feeders army by himself. What did Aemond do in season one that made him a better warrior. Getting Vhagar was a big deal but the only warrior scene we saw was him in training with Christon
