I think I first saw him as the second butler on Soap after Robert Guillaume left the series. But he's the kind of actor that, once you see him, you never miss him when you see him again.
The 7.63mm Mauser wasn't used by the Nazis. They used 9mm Parabellum in all their frontline service weapons. 7.63mm Mauser was used in "broomhandle" C.96 Mauser pistols. A lot of them were used by rear echelon units, ethnic SS units, and auxiliary troops in occupied countries. You couldn't tell a 7.63mm Mauser slug from a 7.62mm Tokarev. They are roughly the same weight and have similar cartridge cases. Only the headstamp would be different.
@@SidneyBroadshead Actually, it was used by the Nazis in captured PPsh-41s and PPSs' on the Eastern Front, the round being similar but slightly less powerful than the Soviet 7.62 round.
One of the very few Law and Order cases where I wanted the perpetrator to not be found out or jailed at all. I feel sorry for the victim's wife and kids but fraudulently nabbing the funds out of an old man, a veteran too at that, is disgusting. And it makes me wonder had the victim not been found out and killed by the old man, would have done the same to more old people?
Can’t help but feel bad for Lonnie a capable senior citizen who had all his money stolen from that guys phishing scam putting him back into poverty entire life just gone like that
I gotta say, on the one hand, I'm disgusted by the "victim's" crime. On the other, the poor old man had the chance to pursue the matter through the proper channels and he chose not to.
Love this show. I started watching Hill Street Blues recently and had to stop. Found it kind of weird, odd, too theatrical, incongruent, overacted, not serious enough for my taste. Btw, English is not my main language so maybe I'm not being precise enough with my description of how I felt.
The ME said "7.63 Mauser", short for 7.63×25mm Mauser, which is indeed a pistol cartridge. The detective commented that it's a Nazi cartridge, since the Nazi sidearm Mauser C96 is chambered in 7.63 Mauser. You might be confusing it with 7.92×57mm Mauser or 7.65×53mm Mauser, both of which are rifle cartridges.
I'd agree ordinarily, but even younger people living on the streets die from illness or violence. Andy H. put an 80-year-old on the street. He had no care if Lonnie had family or friends to shelter him. In fact, I doubt Andy thought much about Lonnie Jackson after he stole the man's home and dignity. Andy endangered Mr. Jackson's life for money and didn't care if the man lived or died. And in this day and age, the greedy, psychopathic disregard for other's lives isn't something anyone should count on to shield them from the consequences of their actions. You get what you give, and Andy got what he gave: Cold and brutal disregard.
Not just a WWII weapon, but well before that as well. A Mauser C96, aka the Broomhandle. First released in 1896, and was produced all the way until the 60s or 70s. Now they're sought after as collector's items or as a means to create Han Solo's blaster. Fun fact 1: the 7.63x25mm Mauser was the most most powerful round in the world up until the introduction of .357 Magnum. Fun Fact 2: the Soviet pistol and submachine gun round, 7.62x25mm Tokarev, is dimensionally close to 7.63 Mauser, to the point that the Mauser round could go in guns that use the Tokarev round, like the Tokarev Pistol and PPSh submachine guns. The Mauser round fires at a lower pressure, but could still feed reliably. However, I wouldn't put the Tokarev round in the C96 - The Tokarev round has a much higher pressure to it, so you'd be turning your Broomhandle into a live grenade.
@ Still technically is, but actual authentic ones are rare and very expensive (my guess with the guy in this episode the pistol was a war trophy). Ammo is also an issue - it’s still made, but it’s rare, and also prohibitively expensive. Also I was referring to when they stopped producing it. I think it was in the 60s or 70s. I will check. Edit: manufacture of the broomhandle stopped in 1937, but the gun remained in service until 1961.

One of my all time favourite episodes!! The acting in here was just top notch.
This is one of the best episodes of Law and Order. Riveting from start to finish.
What I love is the variety of accents: Yorker, Yiddish, rural, African, etc.
I can honestly never get enough of Roscoe Lee Browne's voice.
Fun Fact: Lonnie’s attorney is played by Roscoe Lee Brown, whose voice some may recognize as the Kingpin’s from Spider-Man The Animated Series.
So that’s where I have heard the voice

Good ole Lenny can't be the only deadpan snarker of the duo.
I remember this episode very well. He could’ve gotten away with it, but his son intervened.
Actually, his pride did.
One thing every con man knows is that one day, your luck is gonna run out.
I love law and order
Same
Stealing from an old man like that. Not on!

"Taking a man's livelihood is akin to killing him." -Dave Chappelle
Guy took the mans livelihood and dignity, he took it right back.
That guy is right about grandchildren, loving their grandparents, especially if their World War II veterans

Wanted to watch more ❤
One of the stories where Jack McCoy wasn't too thrilled about who he was prosecuting, a victim of a con shooting the con man.
I remember this episode i really wanted him to get away with it
Joe west cw the flash?? “Barry did u create a flash point again”
I was hoping the weapon would be a welrod. Give the spy vibe.

Fraud is bad but I'm pretty sure murder is worse.
Depends who is the victim

In fact being killed by a WW2 weapon it's fishy

Is it just me, or does Anita Van Buren look like Kamala Harris?
Definitely white eyed you.
It's not just you
You mean she's a Black woman with a light complexion. Other than that, no.
