Serena "you make me shudder" Lord Wrotham "oh how exciting, I long to make you shudder" 🤣 Edward Fox is fantastic as the villain so desperate to get his wicked way with the young Serena. Diana Rigg is also excellent camping it up as the wicked mother. Have watched this film countless times and never get bored of it. Brilliant cast all around, fabulous film
I love this "strawberries" scene, where he finds out that she knows the family secret, and has kept it to herself thus far. You can see in every word, every touch that Justin is trying to seduce her heart. Remember when he said to her in a previous scene, "Shall I make you fall in love with me?" Well, it is beginning to play out with every gesture; his suttle way of making Serena fall in love with him. And everytime she runs away like a frightened little rabbit, he is triumphant within himself because it is a clear indication that he is appealing to her sensibilities. The way he speaks to her and stares her down is mesmerizing. ❤️
" I came to see your father." "My father?!.... is there no secret that can be hidden from you in this house?" "I found it quite by accident." "The devil you did." Love this part of the conversation.
"Is there any secret that can't be kept from you in this house?" At this point Serena is beginning to carry on like the Lady of the house, who knows everything about everything, even that strawberry's have blossomed in the garden. One reason why Justin probably wasn't so quick to take to marriage is because of his families secrets, he presented himself as cold and distant so he couldn't get close to people, always having to hide the families indiscretions. But Serena figured him out and learned of his inner most secrets. It's a beautiful thing when you can find someone who you can honestly be yourself around and not be ashamed and Justin's found this in Serena. He already loved her before, but knowing that he can trust her and that she has a loving relationship with his father just took things to another level for him, he's even more convinced that Serena is the one for him and flashes this approving look on his face as she runs away again.
'Mandrake may be your mistress, but it is not my master.' Good stuff! Also, I know the British are known for restraint, but she so amazingly calm and polite in the conversation following her attack.
6:42 Justin is full of jealous rage. But no true man (gentleman) wants to hear a lady was forced upon. Why did she faint so much? Woman aren't dainty flowers. She should of asked Justin for a sword...
I would have fainted just running outside and then through the tunnels and up the stairs. So glad we have elevators today. Although the exercise would do me good.
Soppy romantic story but a great cast with great setting, so many abductions and intrigues as only a teenaged girl would love. This heroine has got to be the luckiest girl in history with all the times her honor's been saved. I wish I liked Helena more. Such a beautiful woman who has always struck me as being crazy.
Justin mother's is a trip, money grubbing, nasty just plain evil selling Serena to that disgusting lech, Serena is brave, beautiful, loyal and smart, I just love her.
@opreaana1673 Lord Vulcan Sr. told Serena that Justin changed after knowing the plot of his parents to save the name of the family and position in society, but I think there was more, something related with a woman. That scene confirmed it to me when he said, " you are like all of the rest". Maybe a woman he met before La Flamme. To know more deeply we have to read the book or listened the audio book.
Diana Rigg and Anna Massey--two terrific Mrs. Danvers portrayals in two excellent PBS productions of "Rebecca"--a much better english romance and by a much better writer than this claptrap. Also, the odious dirty old man (Edward Fox) is the father of Emilia (and husband of Joanna David who was Anna Massey's 2nd Mrs. Dewinter) who played Diana Rigg's 2nd Mrs. Dewinter.

And his devilish smile at the end after caressing her palm.

"Saddle him!" 👍
(Serena is becoming more confident and authoritative, her own person rather than the pawn of others!!!! 🎆🎉🎆)

one of my fave movie. Good thing that I've seen her in her earlier movies before I've seen her weird characters in more recent ones.
That duel was ridiculously funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the way they stood, 9:14 🤣🤣🤣 I'm sorry i can't take it seriously 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Vulcan of Mandrake
such a great name!!
6:42 Justin is full of jealous rage. But no true man (gentleman) wants to hear a lady was forced upon. Why did she faint so much? Woman aren't dainty flowers. She should of asked Justin for a sword...
To be fair, corsets were still a thing.
I love this movie! She does seem too strong a personality to faint so much.
I would have fainted just running outside and then through the tunnels and up the stairs. So glad we have elevators today. Although the exercise would do me good.
Probably couldn't breathe in that corset smh

how could they rush anything so wonderful as the story of the Hazard of Hearts..
Justin mother's is a trip, money grubbing, nasty just plain evil selling Serena to that disgusting lech, Serena is brave, beautiful, loyal and smart, I just love her.
Beautiful! They could have chosen a better looking . Plus she is a child make Vulcan look like a paedo
9:21 He's so short next to Vulcan! Teehee XD
Why am I imagining this as Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth's fanfiction ?
Someone help me.
Justin is sooooo gorgeous!
And insanely jealous! You can feel his rage, hurt and posessivity!

Lord Rootum is a total git. Love BC movies
And I thought my mother-in-law was bad. I would want nothing to do with this crazy family.
helenaaaa😍😍😍
9:48 of the video is boolsheet. The assisting seconds had weapons and would have immediately shot the cad who turned early.
Diana Rigg who plays the mother, she is not very nice.
Oh really? From the Avengers? She still looks very pretty.
yes. That is Diana Rigg from the Avengers. She has been acting a long time. A very good actress.
Yes the evil lord has an earring aid.
So, this is what Lady Olenna Tyrell was up too.
Are both villains named a Harry name? Harriet, and Harry? Harriet Vulcan, and Harry Wrottum
she fants alot :0)
Wow! you're right! lol

9:22 lord ruten is a midget compared to lord vulcan LOL XD
Is it me, or does Lord Wrotham seem to have an earing aid on his left ear, when he was assaulting Serena in the coach?
lauranna24 lol I've never heard of an earing aid but he might have had a hearing aid.
poor horses
why does he have a monobrow? So distracting.
The fainting seems a bit random. It's more something that happened when women wore corsets.
True, but I would have fainted just running through the tunnels and then up those stairs.
Christi Na
He reminds me of Bert from Sesame street
9:47 no one runs after ruten?
dang she fants alot
lolol
so predictable!
Feel disappointed when watching the film after reading the novel
Movie didn't do justice with the novel.
