He is able to get unemployment for the 8 hours, because of that, he is racking in that 600 a week on top of his pay and the day of unemployment supplement. Meanwhile my daughter who is a CNA and full time student is barely making over minimum wage, working through this exposing herself and her family. Most definitely a broken system!

This caller’s situation happens more often than we all think. I’m in the recruiting field and there was a situation where a candidate was offered a full time job with benefits and holiday pay, and remote from home temporarily until covid gets resolved, but the candidate didn’t want to start until July because he was getting more from unemployment benefits than the wage he was offered. So he wanted to start in the next several months, but the manager had a need for him to start at least within 2-3 weeks. Candidate and manager came to an impasse about start date.... let’s just say the guy wouldn’t give up the temporary benefits for a full time permanent position. And people want to cry about how they don’t have a job and unemployment rate is the highest it’s been since the Great Depression. I was floored that the guy turned down the job. This is what our tax dollars are paying for. 🤨

You dont care if they got sick, or if someone in their house got sick, or what they got going in their lives. All you care about is hitting your quota, reaching for your bonuses, and using other people for personal gain. I'm not even sure what you do even counts as real work. I see a lot of people here talking about how unemployment is paying more than working than someone who is working.
This extra $600 isn't forever. It's a very temporary thing. Unless Congress extends it right now the extra $600 is set to expire July 31st. Then if nothing changes people will go back to normal pay. This extra unemployment is meant to help keep up with rent, medical expenses, and food.
It's good on this guy to get some money advice as to not get used to the extra $600 cause those who do will face harsh reality when it concludes.

Why are wages so low that people need a second and third job to pay the bills (even when NOT drowning in debt)? Why aren't they complaining about the companies paying workers a pittance with poor working conditions yet are making massive profits (Amazon anyone? Feedlots?) The issue isn't unemployment benefits - it's the ability of corporations to not pay living wages!

Use and save the money wisely Kirby, because you will be back to a very low income once this is done and people forget. I never understood the reasoning for paying off my car before my house. The interest on my car loan is very low, and I opted for a 3 year loan as well. @@Blitz513 I don't plan on selling my car, so depreciation doesn't really justify things for me. I drove a 98 civic for 13 years, until it started making me late for work. Then I bought my current car. I took out payments because I had no credit history and I wanted to buy a house. I followed my bank's recommendations. I could have purchased 4 brand new cars in cash (because I bought a honda not bmw), but credit history was the goal. Not to mention I needed a reliable car, as my old car kept making me late to work. I put 20% down on my home... So, I look at money in terms of time. If I put 10k on the principal of my house rather than pay off my car this year, I'd save myself so much more money in interest over the long term. That's the reason I am keeping the payments for now. I've made a plan to pay off my home in 8 years instead of 30, which is very easy for me to do even with a car payment.
