NO BAD DOG ARMY! Like and comment as fast as you can to support the channel! 👍🏻❤️
Hello! My dog is only 20 pounds and very dog reactive, he needs a little better leash handling. What do you recommend for him? A prong type collar plastics or metal, or the 280C that you use a lot?
I love the channel. Tom is fantastic with both dogs and their owners!
She listened and she gave no excuses and she’s exactly what the dog needs right now
💯💯!!
I love how "dog training" is more about teaching the humans how to handle their dog.
Always!!
No BAD owners! 😉
@@yun9393 Except animal abusers.
It's the truth dogs act how their owners give cues for them to act. You have to be firm, loving and give trust as much as you expect in return.
When you said you were getting another dog out and the plush slid out- I was not ready lol
HA! GOTCHA!
One of my favorite parts of his reactivity videos!
@@tomdavisofficial what type of dog was the white fluffy one
@@IIWolfsII I am pretty sure it’s a Samoyed.
You can always hear an anxious German Shepherd before you see them!
Always! haha
Absolutely not true German Shepherds can wine without being anxious that's how they communicate. They like to talk I like the fact they like to talk, my dog doesn't over talk but sometimes we have conversations. 99% of people that have German Shepherds don't understand Shepherd's language
You could see the moment when the owner and her dog both relaxed when they “got it”. What a perfect example of actually seeing the “Tom” method kick in and the confidence it inspires. Thank you Tom, more great content that is helping us all.
Thanks so much, Susan!
I think I watch too many videos! I'm over here like put the leash in the left hand, relax that arm, don't look at her the whole time 😂 amazing as usual Tom!!
hahah! Yup, you got it! :)
That was me too 😂
“Realistic dog training for realistic people with realistic results” - yes Tom! Your videos, virtual one on one training and content trained my GSD. He’s 11 months old and we work everyday to build, build and build the relationship. Everyone - when Tom says the micro leads to the macro he is telling the truth! 💯. We are proud to be a part of the No Bad Dog army! George the dog is an ambassador to that!
YES! Thank you so much, Katherine!
Owner's shirt is Italian for: "the more people I know the more I appreciate my dog"
Thanks!!
I loved the moment when it all clicked with the owner! The confidence she gained was great.
Yes!
" pop it" that is what I repeat to myself when I walk with my dog, also I have to remind myself to praise him when we go out.
That's why I love watching all of the videos, they help me so much
Yep! Keep working on it
Watching your videos helped me train my German shepherd. He’s a RUclips sensation now. People come to our farm knowing his name. In fact he’s our LIVESTOCK GUARDIAN and raised an orphaned goat. Thank you ❤
I love seeing the shepherds you work with so much more relaxed once they know what is expected of them. We are working with our shiloh shepherd who is so smart but at that teenager attitude stage so training is being tested now.
I love the quote from the book Stop, Sit, and Think that says "Whenever you select a dog which has sufficient poundage to give him/her the strength to have their own way, you must offset the strength by knowledge and the desire to please."
Thank you for helping so many (including myself) find that knowledge!
Like clockwork!
I love how receptive and smart the owner is and how she’s really trying to learn. What a gorgeous GSD too. So awesome!
Moka got so much more comfortable as her owner's confidence increased.
Thank you for showing this - it provides a navigation map for viewers working with their own dogs.
Great tangible feedback from the owner 👏
Yes! Thanks so much for the support, as always! ❤️

I’ve been watching all your videos since since I found you. I adopted a four year old Aussie Shepherd/Doberman mix from a kill shelter. He was 20 lbs, and oh so sickly. A year later (and $600 in vet bills) and I have a healthy, happy 40 lb. dog who has SUCH a different attitude than any other dog I have ever had. It sure took me by surprise. Your videos have shown me what training tools to purchase, and how to understand him better. I loved the stinker, I just didn’t understand his actions. You’ve made all the difference. We have a ways to go, but at least we are on the right road. Thank you so much. I never realized how different Shepherds could be than all my other dogs. Again, thank you.
Thank you so much, Susan! I appreciate the feedback!
Such a great owner with her! Very confident when she got the hang of it!
What a wonderful lady!! Sees a problem, finds out how to fix it, and then listens to the expert!! Kudos to this gal! And you can see the love between them, so presh ❤️ Mocha just needed to trust that Momma is in control and she took the guess work out of it all for a sweet lil girl. Loved watching this one!! Well, I love all of them really but sometimes the owners tick me off😂
Yes! She did great!!
Good to watch such quick progress with a large breed. "Realistically" not so easy in real life. My admiration to the lady owner for being patient, passionate and loving. Greetings to the entire NO bad dog army from the other side of the ocean.
Thanks, Madie!
Engagement and timing are such an important aspect of training and owning a dog, love your ethos and methods!
Yes, agreed!!!
@@tomdavisofficial your results speak for themselves!
Tom I want you to know you are helping people even in Mexico. Here the only trainers I had available close by are silly cookie trainers! Her dogs makes great tricks tho (when she feels like it) . You are helping my rescue sweet Border collie/lab mix to behave in walks, couldn't get the real herm sprenger over here tho, but the cheap knock off is kinda working, (we even home made the security clip) we are trying and watching all your videos. Thanks for sharing such good information
Thanks for watching!!
i love seeing owners that are ready to learn and absorb your teaching
Yass! Thanks for watching!!
Good Day Me. Davis, I've been watching all of your videos and I thing they are great!! And I have shared them with friends and neighbours, the thing is we live here in Colombia and most do not understand English. So from a market point of view having some kind of Spanish translations of your videos online would be an incredible opportunity getting all of the Latin America viewers!!! I'm telling you this because there isn't a spanish versión of you yet, not even close. So if you can find somebody to do you the "favor" 😉, latín América and Spain would be very great full, keep it up!! Cheers!
GREAT IDEA! Thanks Valerio!
Can't emphasise enough, listen to and watch Tom's TIMING AND CORRECTIONS. I think Tom would back me in saying once these two things fit right with the process, your half way there. Thanks so much Tom,as per,for educating all of us dog trainers, handlers and lovers. The uk loves you buddy!.l
Thanks so much, Darren!!
I would LOVE for my one year old GS/mal to have the opportunity to train with Tom! We live on the west coast tho. Trying my best to work with her myself by watching these videos! Keep them coming!! Much love and support for the No Bad Dogs community ❤🐶🙏
Amazing to see this beautiful dog and the owner get more confident 💪 Love this video!!
Thanks so much, Mihoko! ❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻
I have only just found your channel and have watched a few videos. So far, I am impressed that most owners seem to have the basics down quite well, heel in particular. They do not come up with excuses, but seem to readily accept the training tips, and are willing to work. So unlike what you might see on certain tv shows ('it's me or the dog' comes to mind) where more often than not, the dog does not even get walked at all, and has never heard of heel or a release command. Will be checking out more videos.
I've owned 3 dogs before my gsd. They definitely take a different level of training! Once you bonded with them they're amazing but it takes Work!
Thanks for the feedbck!!!
This helps a lot. I adopted a 10 year old Belgian Shepherd and she does this exact same thing.
She's really great. But she always gets reactive with other dogs.
u have been the best person i’ve found to help me with my reactive dog. tried the no punishment kind of training before getting a prong collar and god what a big difference in the two. the prong collar saved my life lol he is so much less reactive and listens so much better than 2 months ago when i started working with him prior to adopting. thank u for helping so many people and their dogs
Happy for you Amber, thanks for the feedback!
Oh, yes, I can relate to that feeling of always looking around for other dogs with my rescue GSD.
I have so much respect for this owner!!! She's by far one of my favorites of your clients!! And her GSD is absolutely beautiful!!
Great video Tom. Mocha has very beautiful coloring. Could really see how tense the owner was at the beginning and the last clips outside, how relax she was. This video is great to prove that using a tool in the correct way makes all the difference, meaning the Prong collar.
Thanks so much, Ben!
Thanks Tom, great training lessons……as always. This is the first time in my life I’ve had a dog who is reactive and I just binge your videos every time an issue comes up. He’s just about to turn two and he just keeps getting and better.
Me too, it’s like I’m writing a dissertation on dog reactivity training. 🤔😂
Finally a Samoyed on the channel! (Although it was only an extra. Haha). Tom, would love to see a video with you working with a Samoyed! Mine is named Luna as well!
- From a fluffy cloud owner.
😎😎😎!! Too funny!!
She's better than most owners honestly I'm pretty impressed wit the lady
Hey Tom, In the beginning l was doubtful of the owner, by the end I feel you made great progress. Great to see the dog have better direction. Nice.
Thank you so much, Mike!
Thank you, friend. I and my 6 month old GSD certainly needed this one! NO BAD DOGS! ❤
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you for another great video! This is exactly how my dog used to react untill I started to use these techniques!
Thanks for watching, Nev!
Another fantastic video. The 'pop' on a prong is short but sweet. Works quick and very well.
Thanks so much for watching! Sarah!
training the human first, i like it. this guy really understands the dog's behaviors
I like this owner 👍
She’s the best!
Thanks for this video Tom, as I am planning to get a German shepherd later on, this video gave me some good advice.
Yes! Hope this helps, Jan!
Great Job Tom. The dog seems a lot happier after reconditioning and tuning up the owner. 🙂
I like these videos. My gsd is 1yr and refuses to heel or loose leash walk and absolutely see prong collars as a challenge. I've moved to a gentle leader and hope that will help.
Hey Tom! Great Video! Could really see a change in the Handler by the end! Love it! Moka is Beautiful! I have 2 German Sheperds and I am struggling with separating them for any amount of time!
For sure!!
Damn that's a strong woman in every sense.
yep!
Great owner! Very insightful, very receptive. Lucky dog. Good job!
Thank you so much for this and all your videos, your teaching me so much to help me with my very reactive covid GSD!
This is exactly the video I need. thanks!
Thanks so much for watching!!
Dude- you are just so awesome. You make it natural and exciting and empowering for dogs AND owners. I am so glad I found your channel and my German shepherd is benefitting greatly! Thank you!
As a German Shepherd owner working with my reactive dog, my question is, how do you manage when the other dog approaches aggressive or in hyper state and it is not on a leash. I lose all control.
You have to avoid the variable you can't control
Walk in the opposite direction.
We watched the video... we being myself and 6 GSDs.... they all approve 👍 👌 👏
NO BAD DOGS!!!
Love your content. ... keep it up 😤💯
Great lesson, always working on my timing.
Thanks so much!!
More German Shepherd videos! In one or 2 years I wanna get one and I wanna train him right!
We have lots!
My German Shepherd behaves a little like this one. He’s leash reactive on walks. He loves other dogs in daycare so it is definitely a leash/ territorial issue.
Great info. I just adopted a 2 year old Malinois. He’s great around people, but when he sees a dog, he’s very reactive.
well done by all 3 of you 💯🤌🏼
Ha! Thanks so much!!
That is the prettiest GSD yet! Except for mine!!!😊🖖
ha! Thanks for watching, Brandy!
Excellent info as usual. Thanks Tom. Really wish you were here for my Ozzie.
Hey Tom. Do you have any tips for when you pop the leash to get the heel, but the people around you just see it as you being overly aggressive towards your dog and just being a bad owner??
Such a beautiful dog ( besides Lakota).😍😍😍😍 I was waiting for the Flexy party ( of one) in today’s video. 😂
Now I have to try to find my newfies' old prong collars for the new pup. He's half catahoula and half GSD, didn't know you can't purchase them anymore. Why, for goodness sakes. The real advantage to this training, besides a very good instructor, was also the ability to work around the other dogs that maybe while not completely obedience trained but also were controlled and not running free doing whatever.
Such a great video. Usnhumans need to be trained and this shows that. Loved seeing how once the lady was more confident that the dog was more confident to. Reminds me of me and my girl. Lol.
So helpful. Thank you.
All the vids of you and GSDs and all i can do is wish i could get some sort of help in training mine being that i'm not working. great content.
In this video you say the 3.0 prong is good. In your other videos I've watched you use 2.25. What criteria do you use to determine which size you use.
Love watching your videos!
Ur videos have been a really big help!
So happy for you!!
This is super awesome.. great way he is explaining
Great owner ..took on all.of it and done it well done guys
This was great! I am so looking forward to sharing this with my husband. He has had a bit of trouble with our mix’s anxiety on walks, she hears a dog bark and tries to run for home. I know how to do these things, but am having trouble teaching them to someone else. This is going to be great!
Thanks for keeping it REAL!!
Thanks, Lisa! :) ❤️ I appreciate ya!
Found you from tiktok and I’m glad I did
A huge part of a dog's actions are taken from cues from their owners. If you are tense, nervous or excitable, the dog will be too.
My German Shepherd is a 1.5 year old, literal rescue that walked up to our house starving and filthy 9 months ago.
He's going to be neutered after the first of the year, so currently has all those male hormones raging.
Yet, in my training, I used a two part action for every new task. I taught him what not to do by correcting him verbally, then immediately giving him a task I WANTED him to do, then calling to me, having him sit, then giving him lots of praise and scratches. I haven't even needed to do treats as reward. This particular dog is super responsive to praise, both verbal and tactile.
I no longer need to have him on leash... Even when other dogs come near. He gets three commands at that time. If he reacts to them it's, "no, sit and watch". He does exactly that.
I've had dogs all my life including several GSD's. I don't use normal commands or training methods, but they always seem to work for me. My current GSD though is a singularly unique pup. I've never had ANY dog take to so many commands so quickly, often after only two tries. I firmly believe it's because I saved his life and have treated him with the a live like I felt for my my first one as a young child.
I've only ever had one other dog that I felt totally confident to have off leash in any environment.
Now.... This doesn't mean I never have him on leash. There's situations where it's required.
Love the feedback at the end.
Me too!
Haters gonna Hate, but I can't agree with them! Tom the #1 trainer in my books! Keep it up. Would love to see a vid or short with you training your dogs, just to take a breather from behavior issues 😎
👍🏻
Almost forgot.....very good video, Tom. I always enjoy your channel and your demeanor is very pleasant. Not like some trainers who are loud and obnoxious. Can't stand that kind. Everyone needs to avoid them
"più gente conosco più apprezzo il mio cane" on her shirt is a phrase written in italian and literally says "the more persons I know, the mor I appreciate my dog"
I own a 7 month old shepard. This has helped me greatly. Shes amazing but its me that lacks the training.
I may love Kota as much as my big boy- wellll close. always watch her in the background.
They come to train their dog and Tom train's the owner 😂❤
Great GSD owner. I think she could easily learn to train other people's dogs.
Love these videos!!
Thanks, Suzanne!
@TomDavis have you produced any videos on clicker training? I am training a friend's 10 pound Mini Schnauzer using a clicker. I used one with my Mal x GSD before transitioning to an e collar.
My german shepherd also has a lot of reactive/anxious behaviour and we can’t even walk her on the street because the cars make her freak out. Not sure if you guys have a video on it, but if so I will find it cuz I’m ready to do whatever it takes at this point 😵
Love it!!!
Thanks so much!!
Hi, just wondering how to eliminate dog whining during training? I have a GSD at 10 months, she been during great with her training until recently, she started whining whilst training at first it was with long commands for example sits, downs, stands etc at a distance, but now she just does it on all commands that are at all challenging aka anything that involves her to exert physical energy or anything at all boring or she decides she doesn't like. As funny as it sounds its starting to cause problems as I have to stop training when she starts this as I don’t want to reward her when she's showing this behaviour. By the way she gets rewarded whilst training throughout the day in the form of her kibble no bowl feeding at all so as you can imaging no training no food, which concerns me. Also, I might have rewarded her for a correct command whilst she was whining in the past so I totally understand this could be my fault which is most likely but I need to fix this either way, Please help!!!
I feel for the lady my girl was the same attended all classes tried agility she did what was asked then went under the table she was three yrs on mon walks passed dogs but I always walk on the other side of road obedience great I feel for her with her little insecurities
OMG - I have a GSG that is a carbon copy of this dog. She would take a bullet for anyone in our family. She is a sweetheart. No pics are needed. They are identical twins. But Maggie (my dog) is very intense but the behavior is identical.
👍 love your work
Thanks so much for the support, Jen!
I’m here for it today.
❤️❤️❤️
She's doing great 😊
She is!!
I love this!
Thanks so much, Hailey!
Very carefully
My GSD is the save exact way and it feels hopeless. Going to try prong collar instead of gentle lead( it is just so nice for walking )
And I know I’m late commenting but I will get 5 feet of attention then loses it and have to turn so around… 100s of times
Great job Tom. Lovely dog to work with . Thank you : )
Thanks so much, Laura!!
How do I correct my German shepherd on when greeting someone by jumping up and down in front of them kind of like a chest bump but happy to see them?
Great f’en video homie!
Most ppl are not afraid of GSDs ...they are afraid of you not being able to handle your dog. Especially when it is a GSD. Beautiful dog btw.
This one was really, really good!
Nice job Tom!
Thanks, Joe!
