  • I've seen videos that teach you how to publish a book with Amazon, and other videos showing you how to format them. I haven't seen too many that do BOTH! So I decided to make one. This video takes you through EVERY step of the way from how to size your pages for a bleed to how to properly upload your book on to KDP. Remember to subscribe and like the video. Comment below if you have any questions (I cover a lot!) or want to see any other videos.

    I am co-writing a book with two fourth grade girls about how to say thank you and how to apologize. One of the girls is writing the stories, one is illustrating and I am writing the "how to" sections between the narratives. Today, we watched your video together and they found it very interesting. After their request for me to help them learn to write and self-publish a book, they have been shocked about the complexity of formatting! • @IzzyBBooks
      @IzzyBBooks  2 года назад +1

      I’d say you’re ready. Just combine them as a pdf in acrobat. Make sure that first page is on the right as it will be a one page spread on a right hand page. Then everything after is a two page spread. Once you upload you’ll get to preview your book on the spot and see what you think. I do think RGB will work, so you should be fine.

    When you say Free ISBN # and they own it , does this mean they now OWN my book and it can only be sold by them?
    Working on low funds those c notes hit the grocery bill rather hard :)
    Also , the trimming and formatting has been perplexing me until your tutorial. My question is can we use a template to create in that would eliminate the trimming process and be more like resizing process?
    I just set up a dedicated computer with Win 7 offline as I could not seem to locate a typewriter and I prefer offline work. Would you know what older version of Adobe might be useful and compatible for photo editing.

      I don’t typically recommend using the free ISBN. But I haven’t seen any real damage in using theirs unless you’re planning on selling the book outside of Amazon. If you want to sell the book in other places or stores you would need your own ISBN. And yes… they’re expensive.

    Hi Izzy, thank you for the informative video, love your enthusiasm. As a publisher, did you register your publishing name as a company, or registered with the state before using your publishing name, or decided to use your name without any formal filing process with the state or city. And, for KDP, can I use any made-up publisher name or should it the same name as Bowker's ISBN, and LCCN (is possible to make up a publishing name for Bowker and LCCN). Also, for KDP, is it possible to publish a nonstandard trim size book, for example, 11 x 8.5 in. book.

Will I be able to sue, if I didn't make a copyright for my story? Also, I wrote a children's book. But I do not have any artwork. I can draw but I want to publish my book now to have some type of dated proof of my book. And making cartoons for each page is going to make my release date longer. Can I publish my book without the artwork then add the artwork later? Or should I even do that if I could? And, if I got my book copyrighted, before I added the artwork, will I have to re-register my copyright, once I add the artwork?

I went back and opened up the cmyk files and created a rgb conversion action and saved them as rgb. No the gutter is always at the center of the two page spread. It never changes. And it’s best just to try and stay 2 inches away from the gutter with all valuable art and words. Items can be in the gutter. Just make sure it’s not vital to the story.

Do you just up load both manuscript and art and then put it together? How do I get the text on the art? Make the actual pages? Is that something that happens within KDP? Or is there another program/app? Thanks, Bonnie Martin

    • @IzzyBBooks
      @IzzyBBooks  11 месяцев назад

      If the art is separate you’d have to use a program like indesign or photoshop to place text on the art. Formatting is a BIG part of all of this and takes just as much skill as illustration and writing. There are people in the industry who only do formatting and book design.
