Good day Izzy, I would like to say thank you very much first, because I have been looking for a way to resolve the issue regarding my children's book regarding the paperback on KDP. A million thanks Izzy!! Your video is so easy to understand and exactly what I’ve been looking for!! Thank you so much for this invaluable info! 🥰👍 Also…can’t wait to see your ebook video! I’ll be back 🙏👍
I haven't even watched this video yet, but based on your intro this is what i been looking for. I published my graphic novels in kindle only because the formatting for print was just too difficult for me to wrap my head around so i went with a print p.o.d. company that specializes in comics etc but i periodically will peruse the internet\youtube for any new updates.
I’ve been trying to upload my interior but kept getting problem. I think I know the answer after watching this. I uploaded cover page and 2 page spread. And I did the same for interior! But your video, your interior was uploaded as per page spread. I’m going to try now and hopefully it works!
Thank you so much for this video. You're really funny. It was as entertaining as it was informative. One question though. I was wondering why you had some of your illustrations in the bleed. Wouldn't they be cut off?
Nope! Only essentials can’t be in the bleed. Now I’d never put really important parts of the illustration in the bleed but it’s okay to have some there.
Izzy B, great video! Thank you! I have a question about the number of pages. I am creating a 24 pages (including the covers) book. Should I add "dummy" pages or is that good? Can the interior of the covers be printed?
Thank you for this video. This is what I was looking for. I think there's at least one aspect you missed or just didn't have in plan to present. When you have an illustration going on two pages, how do you select the image when you split. I'm asking this because with the gutter, there must be some alignment that needs to be done. I've seen another video where the image didn't align nicely so the author had to overlap the images. I would appreciate if you could show me how you create a seamless illustration on two pages.
Can you make a video about the steps to get the ISBN? I am located in Spain, but my book is in English and I want to be able to send it to an English market, so I am not sure how to proceed. Sorry if this sounds stupid :-$, hahahaha. Thanks again for all the great info!
Hi Izzy, I created a children's book, using plasticine for my illustrations. Thank you for the excellent video. One question though. If I want to add graphics/colour to the inside of the front and back cover, how do I go about it? Thanks
Unfortunately you can’t do this using Amazons KDP. If you’re wanting end pages on your book you’ll have to go through a large offset printer. I have a great one who makes incredible books, but you pay more upfront.
Thanks so much for a great video! Where do I find those templates you mention on kindle direct publishing? could you post a screen grab of a button? I only see posting options etc...

Hi Izzy, thanks for this interestiong video and your Book, im woriking on a book project with KRita, Could you let me know exactly i should write in the Width box and the Height box , also what Resolution is the best for color...Thanks, Joseph
Tnaks to take the time to answer, Izzy, If I am working with krita program, can I go ahead and construct my 35 pages, and, Once finished, just moved them in the Kindle templates?.. Or I'm I wrong?.. Thanks Bros, I just need to be set ..then I can go ahead I started for good, This should be my last question.. Just need to get set.. God bless Joseph..
Hi Izzy. Thank you so much for this video, it was very informative. My only question is, which program were you using to format the interior of your book?
Hi Izzy, thank you for the informative video, love your enthusiasm. As a publisher, did you register your publishing name as a company, or registered with the state before using your publishing name, or decided to use your name without any formal filing process with the state or city. And, for KDP, can I use any made-up publisher name or should it the same name as Bowker's ISBN, and LCCN (is possible to make up a publishing name for Bowker and LCCN). Also, for KDP, is it possible to publish a nonstandard trim size book, for example, 11 x 8.5 in. book.
Hi Izzy B, I enjoyed your video. I do have a question...I see you have your pages as picture and text. My manuscript is separate from the art work. Do you just up load both manuscript and art and then put it together? How do I get the text on the art? Make the actual pages? Is that something that happens within KDP? Or is there another program/app? Thanks, Bonnie Martin
If the art is separate you’d have to use a program like indesign or photoshop to place text on the art. Formatting is a BIG part of all of this and takes just as much skill as illustration and writing. There are people in the industry who only do formatting and book design.
Just found your video. Very informative. I'm about to publish my children's book with KDP. I have a question about downloading the "cover" that you mentioned in your video. Is that step for the front and back cover? In one document?
Hi, I have , please, question about ISBN code. You are saying that it is better to buy your own code. But is it possible to make a second edition of a book with a new ISBN? in case if it is the first book and you have a lack of experience and budget... maybe you already have a video about this? 😉
I am grateful for your channel! I am currently in the process of finishing up and releasing my very first children's book. I am having a hard time on creating a two page style PDF to send as ARCS to a few people prior to release. Do you have any advice on how to do that? Thank you so much!
great content man! Quick question, if I have a date selected for my paperback to be released, could I still publish and order my own books before it goes live for everyone else to buy?
Isn't text usually added with a vector program? Just wondering if you can see the difference between setting type in illustrator or inDesign vs photoshop? Love your videos!
I use inDesign usually. But I wanted to show a method that I think most could do. Honestly I’ve done both and I don’t see a huge difference. At this point I just really like all the options indesign gives.
I have a couple questions about ISBN's and Copyright, what are they exactly? When do we get them and why do some people say copyright is not needed? Do you need a new one for every book you publish?
Hi there, I’m totally new at this, I’m a watercolor artist and have been wanting to put my work together. I have been turning my art into greeting cards, postcards and prints. Is adobe Illustrator the program I need? Thank you for your help
If I don't get a Copyright, before I publish on KBP and someone took the story from my book, and made a movie from it. Is that legal? Will I be able to sue, if I didn't make a copyright for my story? Also, I wrote a children's book. But I do not have any artwork. I can draw but I want to publish my book now to have some type of dated proof of my book. And making cartoons for each page is going to make my release date longer. Can I publish my book without the artwork then add the artwork later? Or should I even do that if I could? And, if I got my book copyrighted, before I added the artwork, will I have to re-register my copyright, once I add the artwork?
Thank you so much, Izzy B. This is an excellent video. I have all my pages created in Apple's Pages and have saved them as PDFs. The images and cover were created as jpgs 300 dpi with text added. I've allowed for the bleed etc. Can I now combine them as one pdf? I used RGB, which I read is OK. Thanks in advance.
I’d say you’re ready. Just combine them as a pdf in acrobat. Make sure that first page is on the right as it will be a one page spread on a right hand page. Then everything after is a two page spread. Once you upload you’ll get to preview your book on the spot and see what you think. I do think RGB will work, so you should be fine.
@@IzzyBBooks Thank you so much. That's really appreciated. If I may ask another question: Should I add an image of my own ISBNs to my back cover? I'm really looking forward to your e-book video :)
@@TheFlitlits1 Your ISBN can be uploaded seperately, but they will put the ISBN where they want it. If you want full control I recommend doing it yourself. I hope I'm not too late at answering this question for you.
@@IzzyBBooks Thank you so much, IzzyB. I'm almost ready to add the ISBNs to my series. I'm so pleased that I watched your video with details relating to CMYK. Even though the adaptations from RGB was intensive, it's been a positive move. Looking forward to your further videos ⭐
I’m an illustrator. But I will say Upwork, SCBWI, Behance, and also finding author groups on Facebook are some great ways to find illustrators. Just be careful! There are a lot of scammers out there who will just use clip art.
do you need a back cover too? can you put the description on the back cover? I didnt see a spot for back cover when you were uploading the front cover.
Thank you so much! This video was super helpful! I do have one more question: does everything that goes beyond the trim lines on the page get cut off? Or is it more like a prevention for when there is an error in the printing process?
@@IzzyBBooks Alright, thank you for your quick response! I will just make sure that all my drawings fit between the trim lines then, just to be safe. Thanks again!
Not that I know of. The ebook creator can have a bit of that but not really. If you’re wanting a true interactive book you can make an app. I actually have someone who can make this if you email me I’ll give you their contact info.
@@IzzyBBooks it's an activity interactive book for kids.. the design is ready for publishing but as i understood there's no option for publishing an interactive one.. it's only for picture books right?
You create your barcode using your ISBN. There are some sites that offer free ISBN barcodes, but the best ones I’ve seen will make you a high res professional barcode using your ISBN for about $20-$30. To me it’s worth it.
Thanka for this. I'm struggling with uploading PDF for eBook creation. The formatting is a mess. If you have any video that clarify this pleas let me know
This is a very helpful video :) Thank you for opening the door for people! Also when you made your title page was it in Photoshop? I want to cut out the white part as well, but I don't think I can on my drawing app.
I done a ebook but now I'm trying to make a children's book. I have the story but I not sure how to make my characters for the book. I'm not good at drawing so is a program that's not crazy expensive that I can use to get started. How to video would be great thanks.
Thanks for this, very interesting! Just a quick question - what software do you use to write your actually book on first? I have word for my writing and ideas but do you use something better? Thanks
I illustrated a book that was published via Ingram Spark, but the author would like to also publish via Amazon. However, I created my illustrations at 300 dpi, and the cover template for Amazon is set up for 600 dpi, so I would need to blow up my artwork and I'm worried about quality loss. Will Amazon accept the template if I change the dpi of the template document to 300 dpi?
Thanks @IzzyBbooks please I need advice. I did a children book on canva and it's about 72 pages when I download in pdf it's about 567mb now I try to publish but it's taking a lot of time and not successful. Please how can I do it right?

Great video! Where can i get the psd templates if possible?
I think they had them on KDP
Great video. Thank you. Do you have an InDesign picture book setup for KDP? Did your export your cover pdf to include the bleed?
Yes I totally have a permanent file set for InDesign. Do all the work ahead of time and it makes the rest smoother
Hi Izzy, thanks for this interestiong video and your Book, im woriking on a book project with KRita, Could you let me know exactly i should write in the Width box and the Height box , also what Resolution is the best for color...Thanks, Joseph
For resolution 300 DPI CMYK
Thank you,
Tnaks to take the time to answer, Izzy, If I am working with krita program, can I go ahead and construct my 35 pages, and, Once finished, just moved them in the Kindle templates?..
Or I'm I wrong?..
Thanks Bros,
I just need to be set ..then I can go ahead I started for good,
This should be my last question..
Just need to get set..
God bless
Joseph..
Hi Izzy. Thank you so much for this video, it was very informative. My only question is, which program were you using
to format the interior of your book?
I use InDesign to format. But you can format in photoshop too. Then I transfer is to Acrobat
Also, for KDP, is it possible to publish a nonstandard trim size book, for example, 11 x 8.5 in. book.
I filed it with the state just like any other LLC would. It wasn’t a hard process
Just as long as your publisher is the same on your ISBN as for your imprint. You can make it up
Hi Izzy B, I enjoyed your video.
It’s all one document. They have templates available
I can help you do that if you don’t mind
Hmmmm not sure.
great content man! Quick question, if I have a date selected for my paperback to be released, could I still publish and order my own books before it goes live for everyone else to buy?
Hmmmm I don’t think so. That’s a good question and I honestly am not sure.
Thank you for the info. If u order books to sell in person, what do u use to take payments?
I use a square reader
Is Adobe Acrobat the necessary pdf format to use or is there another template that can be used for KDP publishing?
You are the man
Thank you
Hi! Can I ask what type of computer would you recommend for being the author but also illustrating
I use a MacBook Pro
Hi IzzyB, what site do you recommend getting the ISBN from? fyi, your videos are extremely helpful.
I use Browkers and never have had a problem
My identifiers is the website and I said it wrong. It’s Bowker
@@IzzyBBooks Thank you for taking the time to respond. Have a great day..
Hi there, I saw your tik tok on illustrating on procreate. Do you have any RUclips vids on that please? I.e page sizes etc on procreate. Thanks!!
I should do that next
Subscrizzy to Izzy now!! Thanks for the walk through sir 🎉
Anytime. Glad to help!
Can you suggest ways or websites to get your book illustrated?
I’m an illustrator. But I will say Upwork, SCBWI, Behance, and also finding author groups on Facebook are some great ways to find illustrators. Just be careful! There are a lot of scammers out there who will just use clip art.
do you need a back cover too? can you put the description on the back cover? I didnt see a spot for back cover when you were uploading the front cover.
Yes. You don’t need a back cover for the ebook. But definitely for paperback.
Thank you so much! This video was super helpful! I do have one more question: does everything that goes beyond the trim lines on the page get cut off? Or is it more like a prevention for when there is an error in the printing process?
It’s more of a prevention. But just assume it’s more than likely getting trimmed off. At least a bit
@@IzzyBBooks Alright, thank you for your quick response! I will just make sure that all my drawings fit between the trim lines then, just to be safe. Thanks again!
Thank you so much! Is there any options for an interactive book to publish in Amazon?
Not that I know of. The ebook creator can have a bit of that but not really. If you’re wanting a true interactive book you can make an app. I actually have someone who can make this if you email me I’ll give you their contact info.
@@IzzyBBooks it's an activity interactive book for kids.. the design is ready for publishing but as i understood there's no option for publishing an interactive one.. it's only for picture books right?
Like it has cards with it and stickers..not a story
Thank you for the informative video. However, do I need a barcode in addtion to an ISBN number? And if so, where do I submit it?
You create your barcode using your ISBN. There are some sites that offer free ISBN barcodes, but the best ones I’ve seen will make you a high res professional barcode using your ISBN for about $20-$30. To me it’s worth it.
@@IzzyBBooks Please elaborate more on your reply here.
Izzy B. When I'm doing illustrations for print, should I illustrate in CYMK or RGB?
CYMK BIG TIME!
Thanka for this. I'm struggling with uploading PDF for eBook creation. The formatting is a mess. If you have any video that clarify this pleas let me know
Make sure it’s a KPF and use their software to make it. I do think I’ll make a video on this.
@@IzzyBBooks thanks for replying 😉 okay cool. I'll give it a bash
Do hardcovers show up in prime as well? What service do you use for hardcovers?
I offset print for hardbacks. It’s the only way to make real money. Anything else will leave you broke.
Hey @iIzzyBBooks great video man, I just started and was wondering what is the best aspect ratio for a children's book?
Typical a book is 8.5x11 or 8.5x8.5 when using KDP
@@IzzyBBooks Thanks for your reply!, do you know how many pages should be ideal for this kind of book?
This is a very helpful video :) Thank you for opening the door for people! Also when you made your title page was it in Photoshop? I want to cut out the white part as well, but I don't think I can on my drawing app.
I typically make it in photoshop.
I done a ebook but now I'm trying to make a children's book. I have the story but I not sure how to make my characters for the book. I'm not good at drawing so is a program that's not crazy expensive that I can use to get started. How to video would be great thanks.
Procreate on the iPad is only $10!
Thanks for this, very interesting! Just a quick question - what software do you use to write your actually book on first? I have word for my writing and ideas but do you use something better? Thanks
I do most of my writing in Google docs so I don’t lose it. I’ve lost some stories before and it’s devastating
Is the cover rgb colour or cmyk colour and do you have to format it to 300 dpi?
Everything is CMYK 300 dpi
How do you get those trim lines in PS?
They are guides. They’re not as easy to make as indesign
Thanks @IzzyBbooks please I need advice. I did a children book on canva and it's about 72 pages when I download in pdf it's about 567mb now I try to publish but it's taking a lot of time and not successful. Please how can I do it right?
