I admire your honesty in regards to surfing the really big stuff Koa. Us mere mortals tend to think guys like you don't give surfing 15+ another thought....but the reality is that it's scary and dangerous, no matter who you are. Stay safe mate and enjoy the trip!

Tomorrow I take my driving test to get my license. If I pass the world of big waves will finally be open for me and I can start training for mavs. Living only an hour up the coast makes it just far enough that no one will take me but just close enough to make me want to surf that break more and more. If I get my drivers license tomorrow maybe I’ll see you out there next time you chase the swell to Cali🤙🏼

Yeah I got ripped going to Hawaii & back from Tokyo for my boards. When I checked it was free board travel from Australia, but coz I was going 1/2 the distance from Tokyo they charged me $200 AU each way....looking forward to the next week....hey Jack drink less before filming Koa's interviews m8 ; D

Do you always prefer point breaks to beach breaks? Why? Because you have a better idea of where to sit?
I mostly surf beach breaks in Costa Rica...but maybe that’s why I’m having so much trouble learning where I need to be to catch the wave! 🤣
AnneAeroSecret Puerto predominantly closes out. But Koa doesn’t want to say that. That’s just what beach breaks do, a lot!
My home break is usually pretty open and the wave holds, unless it’s been storming a lot.
Whether Puerto is closing out or not, it looks like a scary wave in a swell. Yikes!
was in north shore once and fond memories of the biggest roaches i'd ever seen! looking forward to seeing the porto/mexican trip/adventure since I'm thinking of moving there one day. so report back on the contest as well as a bit on local life too.
