I wonder if the recoil design has a issue if not held firmly enough? Like it’s suspicious that with 3 people and 4 mags 2 messed up with 1 person 🤔 I understand high points have a reputation, could this be a cause?

I bought one of these on sale at a local firearms dealer, went on hi-point website looking for some accessories and entered a drawing that hi-point was having, I won a another C9. I got laughed at so many times at the range for them, but I hit 10 out of 10 shots and center of the target more then anyone else there

My first pistol was the c9, high point doesn’t spend a lot of if any time finishing. If you take the slide off and do some file work do some polishing and bend the spring or replace the spring in the magazine it becomes a fairly reliable fire arm. My biggest issue with it was the grip always felt slick and every once in a while the slide would bite me. High Point the brick that goes bang !

They find little bs to complain about a hipoint. The one person is right though, most people who complain about the hipoint are rich & well off & boast about what expensive guns they have. I have the 9 & the 45 & it does damage like any other gun.

I've owned a C-9 for years , I bought it used for $50 and it had a problem with the mag release spring , one call to Hi Point and 2 days later I had a new sppring , grip panels and other goodies all at no charge 100 % FREE ! I like the C-9 so much I bought a 45 . To be honest the only problem I've run into while using either is squib loads which cause failure to cycle issues " not the weapons fault " ! Both will eat any ammo I feed them from factory new , steel case and all manner of reloads . While Hi Points are like carrying a loaded brick you can't beat them on price , value , and IMHO the best no questions asked no bull warranty in the business ! Ugly YES ! heavy YES ! Bulky YES ! fun to shoot YES ! great truck / boat gun ! And yes like all firearms they should be broken down cleaned and lubed before use ! Great video ! Thanks !

I remember the first time I saw a Hi-point I wanted to throw up. I told myself I would never buy one merely based on the fact I couldn't stand the sight of it. Fast forward 10 years to the point where I've collected about all I want to collect and I find myself infront of a C-9. I bought it mostly for laughs and took it to the range.....accurate and dependable is how I would describe a Hi-point. Ugly but functional. I still shoot it every so often just for fun. Another great video sir!

@@colt45peacemaker LOL. As much as I love the joke and meme, Hi-Point is a good budget option. I don't own one. I use the jokes too.
But honestly, these ugly, heavy, firearms seem to perform beyond expectations. Major gun channels have abused them and shown that they will stand up to out of the ordinary abuse. Hell, I've seen them out perform major brand names. I was shocked too.
I'll admit they are not practical for a concealed carry, but they seem to work even when shot! Yes. Shot. Lol. (See demolition ranch) Also see IV 88 video on them.
I'm glad they exist. I'm glad for their price and I'm glad they have such high customer service.

      @colt45peacemaker 2 года назад

@@BushcraftingBogan Hi-Point in my opinion is a budget gun but not for the new shooter as they are marketed to be. There are a few problems in operation...
Magazine feed lips are not like any other pistol.
The slide requires to be pulled back far enough to cock the striker (not easy for many people).
It will chamber a round but sometimes not catch the firing pin.
My C9 has been reliable with self defence ammo and somewhat reliable with target speed loads. Forget gunshow reloads.

IDK but I was always taught by my leo dad that a new gun out of the box needs cleaning to get rid of the manufacturing gradoo that the maker may have missed. Do this before firing a round so as to prevent that same gradoo from getting into the works of the gun and less "break-in" time is needed. I have done this and after 60 years of buying guns that advice has not failed me. Thanks for showing us.

I need to add a story of a friend of mine who was dating a female police officer. She wanted him to "bring his gun " and meet her at the range for some recreational shooting. He came to my shop and bought a Hi-Point C-9 pistol. He said he didn't want to spend a bunch of money just to go to the range with her. He came back to me a couple of days later and said when she started pulling up guns out of her bag he figured she's out of his league, for sure. She had a Colt.45, a Sig, a Kimber and an old Remington mod.41. He said he out-shot her all day long with his C-9 and basically embarrassed her. He doesn't think they'll be going back shooting any time soon .

Not everyone can afford to put down the $$ for the big names when they have kids and a wife to take care of, but they do need something they can feel confident in for protecting their family.

I don't mind a Hi point I've own them before. Ppl fuse about all the failures I understand why. You buy a gun you should want it to shoot right. But my the way I see it is before you carry a gun you need to get comfortable with it plus the more you shoot it the better feel you get for it. I like to put at least a 100 Rounds down range at test the ammo I'll be shooting for carrying. I've owned a few high points. Plan on buying some more.

Good video. In the early 90s, a pal I worked with was going to let his license expire. I bought the last of his inventory, 3 High Point 9mil. I paid $72 apiece. I gave my two boys one each and I kept one that I yet have today. My youngest son said at the time "Thanks Dad, oh, it's not a Smith&Wesson." I told him "If you don't like it give it back and go buy a Smith&Wesson. If you have to use it on someone breaking into your house I promise you the last thing the guy's going to ask is what make of weapon you used." Anyway, Never had a jam. High Points are the SKS's of the pistol world, durable, reliable, etc...A little too heavy to tote comfortably but I have other 9s, Ruger, Taurus that I carry but if I were in a gunfight I'd prefer the HP. When the ammo runs out you can always throw it at'em. HP are made locally, Mansfield, Ohio.

As the owner, and user, of multiple Hi-Point firearms; I get a kick out of the fact that the major complaint I hear is that it is ugly. When was the last time you convinced someone to surrender by showing them your “pretty” gun?? The only time I have EVER had a problem with mine was when using “self defense” ammo. Standard 9mm or .45 ammo runs all day. For ONE of your pretty guns, I can have a weapon for every room in my house.

I had $100 worth of academy sports gift cards a few years back, went to go check out their after Christmas sales & couldn't find much of anything I liked. I saw a Hi Point C9 for only $130 so I added the $30 +tax out of pocket & walked out with a 9mm pistol. I thought it was a pretty good deal TBH. It's def not my favorite pistol, just so heavy & ugly but it works great. I've never had that slide closing issue with mine but I've always kept it lubed up nice n juicy. It's been reliable & very accurate. I disconnected the mag safety on it right away. I like to work up my extra "warm" test loads thru it when I reload something for the first time with projectiles or powders that are new to me. Also like to give it to my buddies to use if they want a pistol when we go out shooting. I don't have to worry about it getting beat up. Overall it's alright, not terrible. Def worth the little bit I payed for it.

I love this pistol....have 3 of them. I did have to go with a leg holster to help with the weight...just say'n. They are very accurate. Standard rounds tend to mis-feed often so we use flat-top wad-cutter style ammo with no mis-feed issues at all. Able to arm 4 shooters for the price of 1 over hyped glock. Grips are a little smooth and slip with sweaty hands but aftermarkets are available at a very low price.

@@mixup98 It's not bad to shoot. Trained with a USCCA instructor who declared it "the world's ugliest gun" when I took it out of the range bag. Trigger is plastic. Not easy on the finger after a while. Field stripping is a pain because you have to use a punch to remove the pin holding the slide to the frame and initially that pin is easy to remove but difficult to reinsert. I found a company video on disassembly and they say to use a 3/32-inch punch instead of a 1/8-inch as stated in the manual. Sights are nicely marked. I placed all my rounds on target and they were "grouped" but a large group since I'm still getting used to the C9. Gun very stiff out of the box.

One of the reasons it was jamming is that the coating on the outside of the slide is also on the inside of the slide and feed ramp. Often the magazine lips are also a bit off as well. That is why there are a lot of YT videos on adjusting the magazines and polishing the slide rails/feed ramp for better reliability.

I've been using lead projectiles with my C9, and haven't had any issues with function. No key-holing. With a great deal of tries and kentucky windage, I've been able to hit a plate at 200m a couple times with mine! I'd assume that was due to heavy projectiles not stabilizing properly in the barrel. I just have been using cast 120ish gn roundnose projectiles in my own piece.

It was the cheapest option for doing so at the time. Though it's not the best, I've learned a lot by running it. It is wonky and limited for sure, but it runs reliably now that it's broken in.

I bought a High-Point C9 and it looked like the whole thing was powder coated. After I got that off the slide and feed ramp with some 1000 grit sandpaper and buffed it, I had no more failure to fire. It helps to stretch the magazine springs a bit, too. A very accurate and (now) reliable handgun. Not particularly good for cc but good for in the car and boat.

The fugliest pistol on the market, but they are tough and fairly reliable, once broken in. There are some YT vids out there where guys have done really extreme things to them, trying make them fail, and yet they kept on firing. Really. Extreme. Things. HPs might be a viable choice for someone who can't afford a more glamorous firearm, but who needs something with more stand-off range than a baseball bat or a golf club. Nice review. Ah yes, the Hi-Point C9, If I remember correctly, It's a polymer frame striker fired, DA only blowback operated, 9mm Pistol, Single stack 8+1, I think you can also get 10 and 15 round mags for it, They also make a 45 ACP model, I get a flier from my LGD and the last time I checked, They were offering a Combo of the 995TS Carbine and the 9mm C/P Pistol for $449.00 I don't believe I've ever seen a barrel with 3 grooves, I had a Marlin Lever Action in .44 Magnum, that had what Marlin called a micro groove barrel with 12 grooves, It was very accurate, I kick myself in the tail for selling it, I would assume that with a heavy slide and overall weight, that recoil is mild, Interesting video, Thank you Sir for sharing, Stay Strong.

Big, heavy, ugly, accurate and reliable, but best of all American made, cheap and a great warranty. I've had mine for years with 0 problems. Most do require a break-in period. Biggest problem people have shooting these is "limp wristing" due to crappy ergonomics causing feeding issues. Bad guys don't care how pretty the gun is when you shooting at them.

Every time I go into the local sporting goods store the only ammo they have is .22LR, 9MM and .223. This store has a couple of these Hi-Points in stock and for $159. Was hesitant to consider it that is until I saw your review Now thinking seriously about it.
