The noodles work great on narrower quilts. I had a wider quilt, so got a wooden dowel that fit snug in the noodle hole. Glued that to interior of the "adjusta-noodle" with enough sticking out to insert in another noodle. Expanding noodles ! ! Mine is snug enough to hold together but you could use masking tape if needed. Then I can use the exact width I need without having a dozen pool noodles to store.
Great video! I've been doing this method for a while and it WORKS! Try it! You'll like it! I've also duct taped two noodles end to end to make them longer!
I put two pool noodles together with the dowel in the middle of the hole and glue.them that way it covers your entire quilt. And I spray based my layers together
That is our Quilt along we did in 2020. It's a great skill builder with each block focusing on a different technique. You can find it all here: www.onwilliamsstreet.com/pages/online-quilting-bee-2020
You could check home improvement stores, you don't even need a pool noodle, you can get insulating tubes that are basically the same thing! They are foam noodles meant to go around pipes. They seem to be stored better and don't bend as bad

@@OnWilliamsStreet My sister and I were basting our quilts together watching how you do it with the noodle and we heard the crash and we both said -- it sounds just like us when we try to do this! We're knocking everything around with our batting and whatnot and, as you say, scissors flying every which way! We did not have noodles but we had some cardboard tubes from ordering home dec fabric and used those and it worked super great! Thanks for your ideas! We both came out with smoother quilts for sure!!
@@janicebadeau I'm glad it's not just us! I like to say I live in managed chaos most of the time. I'm so glad this method helped and love the idea of using the cardboard tubes! I'm all about repurposing.
This is a wonderful video. I have watched it more than once. Thank you for making the instructions so easy to follow.
You are so welcome!
Thank you so so much. I am so glad you show a large quilt.
Any time! We figure since most of our quilts are big we need to learn to finish big quilts.
Your tutorial is so good, I can't wait to try this method. Thank you for sharing 🙂
You are very welcome.

That's a brilliant idea! I'm going to need an extra set now.
I pin the fabric on the noodle when I start. This helps a lot.
That is a fantastic tip!
Great video, just what I was looking for. Thank you.
You're welcome!

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
Should have a fourth noodle and roll up quilt sandwich as you go
To avoid scratches on my table as I am pin basting, I lay my 36x48 cutting mat down first and shift it under the area
I am pinning.
That's a great idea! Another bonus for having a nice big cutting mat.
Great video thanks. Can I ask what quilt pattern this is? Thanks

Thank you for this great demonstration! Where do you find straight pool noodles? At the stores, the are always bent in a curve

Can some one tell me where to get the pattern of the quilt she used. Thank you in advance.

I put two pool noodles together with a wooden dowel in the middle told them glue and tape them then you don’t have the floppy ends
Such a great idea! I love that it gives the length for the whole quilt.
Oh no!! What broke?!!
I just knocked my scissors on the ground! All is good. Nothing was damaged fortunately.
