Hi sorry another question: looks like our kid will be in the room marked wheelchair accessible (despite the fact we didn't request one and don't need one, which is kind of unusual). Any insight into how those rooms differ from the regular rooms? thanks!
Sort of, I never had any friends in those rooms so I never got a peek in the rooms. However if your child received one of these rooms they may have lucked out! From my understanding the rooms are larger (as they are meant to accommodate a wheelchair) and are room X10 -1 which is faces the ocean (although you probably would not be able to see it from floor one and would just face some bushes/the parking lot. I think getting assigned these accessible rooms is fairly common for people who don't need them, its just a matter of luck. As only so many people need them, and only so many people apply for LLC's. Additionally these rooms are across from the largest washroom on the floor (which everyone can use) but it has a toilet/sink and a large shower in one room. (the other washrooms on the floors are split up (one room has a toilet/sink the other is a single shower)). Hope that helps!
Hi, I got my mini fridge from online off of Best Buy Canada. It is the "Insignia 3.1 Cu. Ft. Freestanding Bar Fridge (NS-CFR32C1) - Cream - Model Number: NS-CFR32C1 Web Code: 15323510". Hope that helps!
Happy you liked it! I got most of my fake plastic plants from IKEA (the ones on the wooden shelves above the bed). Then the ones on the white shelf by the window I just got from friends or from places like home depot or plant shops. UVIC as has lots of plant pot painting nights where they usually give you a free plant when you paint a pot so my friends and I all went to quite a few of those.
Hi is this video from 2022-2023? We’re trying to figure out if the furnishings are the same. Our kiddo is staying in one of the “100” level rooms this upcoming year. We don’t know if that is on the first floor. And our kid heard that UVic got rid of all the residence furniture for all the buildings, and replaced all the furniture in all of the buildings with the same furniture as they put in “building one” last year. Thanks!
@@glenciurysek8319 Hi! yes this video was from my first year at UVic which was 2022-2023. The way that Uvic lists dorm numbers/levels (at least for south tower) is a three digit number followed by a "-1". Where the first number indicates floor level and the following two digits are the room number. I was room 323 so I was on level three and the twenty third room on the floor. (south tower has 20 dorm rooms per floor). The "-1" just means it is a single dorm. So yes if the first number is a one then your child would be on the first floor. At 1:30 in the video I show a photo of the building floor layout the room numbers, these numbers are the same for each floor. As for the furniture I am not sure, it seems like it would be a lot of work to change all the furniture in every dorm when some res buildings (such as south tower) are not very old. However if your child received an email or something like that indicating they were switching the furniture then that is probably accurate. Hope that helps and if you have any further questions feel free to leave a comment.
Hi, I'm moving into the South Tower tomorrow. Thanks to your video, I'm happy to have been able to check out the room beforehand! By the way, is there no personal fridge in the room? 😊
Hi happy you liked the video, no there is no fridge included in the dorm room, you would have to purchase your own if you want one ! I would recommend getting one with a separate freezer, they are more expensive but worth the cost in my opinion !
I love the vibe of your room!! Also what’s the two posters you have on the wall, the flower one and the moon one? I want to buy it
Hi happy you liked the video, I got the posters from Munro’s Bookstore on Government Street in downtown Victoria!
i’ll be in your same room this fall!!
Omg thats so cool, I loved south tower! Hope you have a great year!
