You know what, I didn’t think much of it! But now that you say it I have noticed a little chipping on one of my new fathoms. Thanks for bringing that issue to my attention
Planning to fish this reel in October for bigger Tuna on a charter...been looking for other real world reviews but have not found any, in your opinion - as you've been fishing with it, is this a good 80 lb set up for larger BFT or YFT (maybe up to 100-120 lbers)? Appreciate your feedback.
Absolutely great 80lb set up!! Just a heads up though, some of the newer fathoms have had some issues internally and the paint chips on these reels like nail polish. If you want to play it safe the older model 60’s are also a great option!!
@@fired_up_fishing thanks for the reply. I did see your vid about the possible issues with the internals. That said- would you use this 80LD2 as a 100lb set up if internals were not in doubt right now? I do have the gen 1 - 60ld2 as my current 80lb rig. Just wanting to see what else this new 80 can be in the line up. Thanks again for your input.
I fish a Daiwa vip saltwater trolling rod, or a Penn international trolling rod! If you didn’t want to fish a trolling rod, I’m a huge fan of the phoenix axis rods. One of their heavy rods would pair really well with this reel
Right now I have mine on a Penn internet trolling rod, but depending on what you are fishing for, you could really put these reel on so many trolling rods. Extremely versatile. I would also put this on my old diawa VIP saltwater trolling rod. Let me know if you have anymore questions
Been on the fence for a minute but I think I’m gonna pull the trigger and get it
You won’t do it!!! 😂
I've been driving by this pond not far from where I live.. you think this reel could handle large mouth??
Thanks in advance
@@gabrieltiso8537 haha debatable 😂 you might want to upgrade to the Penn international haha
@@fired_up_fishing awesome!! This is why we subscribe folks. Going to look into it 😄
Have you had any issues with paint durability yet? Have heard and seen mixed reviews on the paint quality.

Was that all in one take?! This guy definitely knows his stuff
Haha thanks gabe!! Can’t wait to land some fish on this reel!!

@@JohannDiel I would absolutely use it as a 100lb set up! You can definitely stop some big fish with it
@@fired_up_fishing BOOYAH!!!! Great to hear!

Im really excited too bro I’m getting one of those I hope soon 🤙
Nice man!!! I’ve caught some nice fish on mine already!!
Fathom or Marquesa which one you would choose?
If you can get your hands on one of the black fathoms, older models, that would be my choice
What trolling rod would u pair this with?
