"A writer who says that there are no truths, or that all truth is 'merely relative,' is asking you not to believe him. So don't." -Sir Roger Scruton, Modern Philosophy (1994)
Roger was real fan of classical music. He could listen to carefully and appreciate an endless world of music magic. I think this made him so sophisticated.
Brilliant! He articulates Tommy Robinson's position in nicer tones and without the affect of one who really lives the experience. Nonetheless, the two men talk of the same reality. Roger is dead; Tommy is not! We should all listen!
If the West is ever stronger it is because of the power and presence of the God of the Christ, Jesus Emanuel. While Christians can defend secularism within their boarders as part of the God granted right of free will, we cannot endorse it as a hope for a future or love. Islam cannot do this because they do not separate their government and religion. Islam does not recognize the intrinsic right of free will and the final judgement of God. Islam and strict religious Judaism both defend the right to murder the sexually immoral. They tend more to justice than mercy and strict abiding in their respective laws to earn God’s favour. Christianity, in light of Christ, puts love, mercy and healing of individuals and by extension, healing of the community, in higher esteem. The law remains as someone who would adhere to a strict regime of health, beneficial for those who have not fallen, but all have fallen except Christ. The reality of our world is most of those who would judge and have the power to enact judgement are also guilty of the sins they are enacting judgment of others on.
I’m not so sure that animals do not harbour resentment or hate. Recent studies of chimpanzees demonstrate they do in fact resent injustice and do become enraged, when for example, one chimp is fed a desired food but another is purposefully left out. Among chimps, an atmosphere of animosity is suddenly acted out so that a seemingly innocent animal is set upon by the entire troop and so we see the concept of scapegoating, but mentioned here but in only a human context
RIP Big Roger (love this fellah)

It is true. The West's ability to criticize and satire anything is a strength.

A true intellectual giant of our times.
Brilliant lecture.
The Greatest Conservative.
Sounding more left leaning liberal here at the conclusion
@@rodderz5615 He was a true conservative, not a Tory.
True analysis about the regression and retrogression of the Muslim.
Wonderful.. starting to study.. we need to recover western values!
